If this stargate exists, and in fact has already opened, then I think instead of “aliens” being responsible, that it’s just part of the cycle we’re entering into. I mean if you believe that 2012 is just part of the great cycle, and that entering into this part of the cycle brings about many changes to the earth, then it’s not hard to realize that this thing might automatically fire up when it receives the correct type of energy. I think that better explains so much activity in the area, maybe none of these countries know what’s going on, and they’re simply observing.

What you mentioned about “automatically firing up when it receives the correct type of energy” makes a lot of sense since (my impressions) many of us are waking up and increasing our inner awareness which, perhaps, increases our link with one another…including all beings! And perhaps the water is also connecting with us.
Also, what was mentioned about movies giving us a ‘heads up but lets pretend this is fiction’ was something I have been truly believing for some time.
