Baking Soda is Proving to be an Effective Treatment For Cancer

‘For baking, cleaning and deodorizing..’ and SO much more. It used to be common knowledge that baking soda could easily cure a common cold, as well as assist in numerous other ailments. What happened to all that information? This was not the first time I heard that baking soda was being used to cure cancer. I have come across people who have used it to rid their cancer and then I came across this written piece that was quite intriguing.

“When taken orally with water, especially water with high magnesium content, and when used transdermally in medicinal baths, sodium bicarbonate becomes a first-line medicinal for the treatment of cancer, kidney disease, diabetes, influenza and even the common cold. And importantly, it is also a powerful buffer against radiation exposure, so everyone should be up to speed on its use.”

Below is an article written from the book ‘Sodium Bicarbonate – Rich Man’s Poor Man’s Cancer Treatment – Second Edition’ by Mark Sircus, AC., OMD. I felt it was a good idea to share this information so please be sure to check it out -with an open mind of course. It is understandable how this can seem fa fetched but there are a number of well known natural cancer treatments that are working today that mainstream medicine refuses to talk about.

“There are many reasons to use baking soda but one overall reason is that sodium bicarbonate is a natural substance that will not harm us, our children or the environment because is it not a chemical compound that effects nature in any kind of negative sense. Baking soda is actually a compound that is found throughout nature, in the ocean, in the soil, in our foods, and in our bodies. Baking soda is a neutralizer of many other compounds, which makes it extremely helpful as a medicine in the age of toxicity, which we are all presently passing through.

Life-threatening asthma in children is often resistant to treatment with bronchodilators and systemic corticosteroids. Recent research suggests that administering sodium bicarbonate—an ingredient commonly found in kitchens—in intravenous (IV) form can significantly improve pH and PCO2 in children with life-threatening asthma. Sodium bicarbonate can save the day when nothing else can. The only other substance we can say the same is with magnesium chloride, which when injected will save a person during cardiac arrest and pull one out of a stroke if given soon enough.

There has been work going on at the University of Arizona, using bicarbonate (baking soda) as a potential treatment for cancer. Robert J. Gillies and his colleagues have demonstrated that pre-treatment of mice with sodium bicarbonate results in the alkalinization of the area around tumors. (Raghunand 2003) This type of treatment has been found to “enhance the anti-tumor activity” of other anticancer drugs. This is very similar to the recently published research of injecting O2 directly into tumors where such direct administration of Oxygen also facilitated the action of chemotherapy.

This year these same researchers reported that bicarbonate increases tumor pH (i.e., make it more alkaline) and also inhibits spontaneous metastases (Robey 2009). They showed that oral sodium bicarbonate increased the pH of tumors and also reduced the formation of spontaneous metastases in mice with breast cancer. It also reduced the rate of lymph node involvement.

When it comes to sodium bicarbonate it is an open and shut case. It is already in wide use and has been for decades, even by oncologists who do not want their patients dropping dead too quickly because of the tremendous toxicity of their treatments. Sodium bicarbonate is used routinely to keep the toxicity of chemotherapy agents and radiation from killing people or from destroying their kidneys. In relation to bicarbonate, millions of people in the world either consume bicarbonate ions in drinking water or have been treated clinically with bicarbonate in hospitals, medical centers, or emergency. Sodium bicarbonate helps to save countless lives every day.

Dr. Boris Veysman specialist in emergency medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Jersey describes one emergency room experience: “The emergency department is always noisy, but today the triage nurse is yelling “not breathing,” as she runs toward us pushing a wheelchair. A pale, thin woman is slumped over and looking gray. Without concrete proof of a “Do Not Resuscitate” order, there’s no hesitation. Click, klang, and the patient has a tube down her throat within seconds. I do the chest compressions. On the monitor, she is flat-lining — no heartbeat. I synchronize my words with the compressions and call out for an external pacemaker. Pumping … thinking: Cardiac standstill … after walking in … with cancer … on chemo. This resuscitation isn’t by the book. “Get two amps of bicarbonate,” I say to the intern. The jugular line takes seconds, and I flush it with sodium bicarbonate. This probably will correct the blood’s extreme acidity, which I suspect is driving up the potassium. The external pacemaker finally arrives. Potent electric shocks at 80 beats per minute begin to stimulate her heart. The vitals stabilize.

Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) lives up to the image on the Arm and Hammers box, it is the ultimate heavy weight work horse medicine that every healthcare professional and parent should be knowledgeable about and routinely using. When combined with other strong but basic natural substances like magnesium chloride and iodine one has at ones fingertips a trinity of medical super heroes ready to perform scientific medical miracles in a single bound.

We are talking about serious medicine when we talk about sodium bicarbonate. Earlier and more frequent use of sodium bicarbonate is associated with higher early resuscitability rates and with better long-term neurological outcomes in emergency units. Sodium bicarbonate is very beneficial during CPR.

Bicarbonate deficiency is the most unrecognized medical condition on earth even though it is extraordinarily common.Problems from acid pH levels (relative deficiency in bicarbonate ions) take a large toll from human physiology and the more acid a person gets the larger the problem for cell physiology. Every biochemical reaction is pH sensitive with enzymes being especially sensitive. Our diet plays an important role in maintaining appropriate pH levels in the body.

Most modern diets give rise to unhealthy acidic pH conditions. An imbalanced pH will interrupt cellular activities and functions to extreme levels as ph drops further. Excessive acidic pH leads to cellular deterioration which eventually brings on serious health problems such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and heartburn. “I have used intravenous sodium bicarbonate therapy mostly as a naturopathic treatment for patients who consistently react to allergens or that have chemical sensitivities. This is a great therapy during the Vancouver allergy seasons of spring and fall. The alkalinizing sodium bicarbonate IV can often immediately stop an allergic reaction, or asthmatic attack, since such reactions cannot persist in an alkaline environment. Some of my patients also get benefit from taking an alkalinizing drink every night to reduce their chemical sensitivity symptoms,” writes Dr Eric Chan. “All of my Vancouver and Richmond patients have tolerated this therapy markedly well.”

Uniformly, in ill patients, increasing the alkaline buffer of the tissues makes patients feel better. As mentioned above, this is particularly true in chemically sensitive patients, and can actually be a “cure” in the sense that we are increasing the body’s ability to react in a healthy way to noxious stimuli. If I use the intravenous sodium bicarbonate in such patients, it is usually given twice a week for a period of 4-5 weeks. Sodium bicarbonate is a very effective way of directly improving celllular health by making the tissue more alkaline,” concludes Dr. Chan.

Sodium bicarbonate loading and continuous infusion was
associated with a lower incidence of acute renal dysfunction in
cardiac surgical patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass.

    Awesome find! I made my honey have a glass of water with 2 table spoons of Baking soda and 1 table spoon of molasses just as a cleanser and to change his PH a bit.

      Hey Snaisy, if you use Bicarbonate to RAISE the PH of something the second you put a tablespoon of molasses in it the PH dropped to well below 4. I guarantee it. Molasses will DROP PH drastically. Also use Black strap molasses or another Unsulfured molasses. It’s always best. But if the Idea is to make whatever you’re drinking be more acidic then NEVER PUT MOLASSES in it…

    Just remember to try to use aluminum-free baking soda. :) Most commercial brands are processed using aluminum…and we don’t need anymore of that in our bodies. If you can, buy it in bulk from your health food store, or if you can’t find bulk, check the label and see if it says it’s processed without aluminum. Also, you can probably find some on the internet somewhere that has no aluminum content. -Peace

    • Yes, I read the warning about to make sure that your baking soda has no aluminum somewhere else too, good point.
      I find that often even when researching natural methods, we have to be careful about the assumptions we make even about ‘natural’ products.
      Another similar product easily misunderstood is honey. I’ve read that most ‘honey’ sold in stores has been so heavily processed that it no longer even IS honey. One author said to get it from a bee keeper if you can, but avoid regular grocery stores where it is highly unlikely to find anything resembling real honey despite the label. I ordered my honey online and will likely search out ‘no aluminum’ baking soda same way.

        Carolan, since “store bought” honey can come from anywhere, you are best with local honey…the bees are busy within your environment, which benefits you far more.

    Be sure to get one that says “aluminum-free”. Not all baking sodas are created equal. The ones you get in the supermarket usually have aluminum in them. I buy aluminum-free baking soda in my local health-food store.

    Also- “It is not possible to be a fully educated medical professional without coming up to speed on vital medical information about sodium bicarbonate.” “…no wonder the pharmaceutical companies don’t want doctors or anyone else to know much about it.” Choose one or the other.

    Do you have any medical training at all? Or any other sources to back up your information other than one book? I don’t doubt Dr. Chan is sincere, but its usually best to research a bit more thoroughly (and to talk to your physician) before ingesting something for its medical properties.

  20. Jct: So when I add baking soda to my water supply, not only does it bind with the nuclear fallout (water supply is how it gets into us) so it can’t bind once it’s inside me, but if some should get through to cause cancer, baking soda is good for that then too! Great stuff.

    Regardless of the aluminum content, baking soda of any type will almost instantly kill heartburn. I have been using it for years. At first I used to mix it with water, but now, after a couple of decades of using it, I just throw it in my mouth and chase it with water.

    Here’s another tip.

    Ever have heartburn induced asthma? I have and to the point of barely being able to breathe. I woke up in the middle of night gasping for breath and immediately headed for the baking soda. In just about a minute, I was able to breath much better and with five minutes headed back to bed and back to sleep.

    Will this work for you? Who’s to say. I don’t really see how your body is much different than mind unless you’re from another world than Earth! :)

      OMG! I have that too… I wake up gasping for air and the acid burning my throat!!! I will try this… Hope it works for me too and why not? Your body should not be much differnt from mine though I’m asian.

    Let me add a little more.

    I had a doctor (a real one) try to put me on the ‘little purple pill’ for the rest of my life. I told him that I my heartburn was not caused by a lack of the the ‘little purple pill’ and that I wouldn’t take it. He told me that I could ‘change the pH of my blood’ by taking baking soda.

    Needless to say he didn’t have much to say when I told him I had been taking it (baking soda) off and on for heartburn for a couple of decades and no harm so far.

    I am 51 years old and on NO drugs what-so-ever other than caffeine.

    Why should I put a foreign substance into my body (the little purple pill) when baking soda is so natural?

    As to the dose I use…it varies (for heartburn).

    If I have mild heartburn (although I’m not a doctor, so you will have to dose yourself without my input <–disclaimer ;) ) a take about 1/2 a teaspoon. If I have a BAD case of heartburn I take more. However, I NEVER measure, I just pour some in my hand, throw it in my mouth, chase it with water and mix it up and drink it right then and there in my mouth.

    It really is that simple for me.

    I've had days where, depending upon what I was eating, the heartburn was persistent, so I used it several times throughout the day. At other times I have gone for several days without using any at all. It all depends upon what I'm eating.

    There is ONE caveat. You MUST allow yourself to burp after ingesting the baking soda regardless of what you 'mix' it with. The side effect is a gas (NOT as in flatulence). We are talking about a continuous build up almost immediately of gas in your stomach. I am to believe this is the side-effect of the neutralizing effect that the baking soda has on the acid that is causing the heartburn.

    I say again, you MUST let yourself burp. IF YOU DO NOT, SERIOUS damage could result to your stomach (as in it could BURST internally inside of you. Think of it being like a balloon which can only hold so much air without bursting. If you do NOT let yourself burp you COULD harm yourself!!!).

    Not to scare the h*ll out of you, but most guys (and more gals than will probably admit it) know how to let/make themselves burp.

    So, let yourself burp…and no more heartburn and the effect of the lessening of the heartburn is almost immediate.

    This is what I have done for years. No physician will tell you this and I am NOT a physician. However, this is what *I* do for my heartburn.

    Read the web, what I have written and decide for yourself what you want to do. It is YOUR choice.

  30. I have a 1.5 litre jug with lettering on the side which I use as a marker for how much water I put in (the top of the lettering is just under 1.5 lt) and into this I put a level tsp of baking soda. This gives me a ph of 7.5; I test it by litmus paper on urine samples. So far no problems…

    This is so true! Oncologist told me I had 2 to 4 years to live because of end stage breast cancer throughout my bones. I immediately started drinking baking soda with black strap molasses and my cancer numbers dropped after two months to normal.Numbers have been normal for 1 1/2 years. I went to Mayo and had a pet/ct fusion scan that my oncologist does not have at their clinic and Mayo said the scan was normal, because my doctor could not understand why I was not deteriorating. No cancer cells anywhere in my body! Mayo said they do not understand it and I get the same reaction from my oncologist.I have not had chemo or radiation, because my doctor said at this stage, it would not help. I continue to drink just baking soda when my ph level drops. My bloodwork is still normal. My oncologist said I have perfect blood of a healthy person.Almost two years ago I was told that there was no cure and that I was terminal!

    I have read that Arm & Hammer does have aluminum, whether that is true, I don’t know. I use Bob’s Red Mill Premium baking soda and it says Aluminum free.

    I use it to wash my hair! 1 or 2 tablespoons mix with hot water (amount- about a small size water bottle) and use as shampoo on wet hair. Rinse and then use diluted vinegar (1 amount of vinegar to 8 of water) as conditioner (rinse out). Hair is in the best condition ever and no more need for conditioner. Also super cheap!

    Anna – I am an environmental geologist and I have to tell you – your article is a crock of nonsense. First of all it is a chemical – everything is a chemical. Naturally occurring -or not. Natural elements are not always good – its a stupid assumption. arsenic, lead, mercury are all naturally occurring. Any hydrogologist can cite cases where ground water has naturally occurring arsenic so high its making people sick. its natural but its highly toxic. Sodium bicarbonate will have a real impact on people with fluid retention issues such as high blood pressure. Also, you can not alter the pH of the human body easily – and to do so generally results in death. Ask a physician or biochemist.

    As for a “poor man’s cancer treatment” how misguided and irresponsible to make such a suggestion. Are you an onocologist? Do you have a degree in biochemistry?

    I own a small firm that remediates soil and ground water pollution. We do not work for bad guys – we work for decent clients and the land is our first concern. This kind of fluffy logic is a curse – I see it with self-appointed environmentalists…unencumbered by a real education or any technical insight, the blather on about with solutions based on hear say, non-sense and/or new age stupidity rather than real science. Mean while the real problems on unaddressed and resources get wasted as people squander time, money and effort on ineffectual approaches. They are like religious – all zeal and emotion but no accountability, insight or real education…and they mislead people. Its like the idiots who “oxygenate” themselves with hydrogen peroxide. My god… we use that stuff to chemically oxidize petroluem hydrocarbons and synthetic organics…doesnt “oxygenate”..it oxidizes and produces free radicals.

    Baking POWDER can contain aluminum, NOT baking SODA. Be careful…baking soda is high in sodium, it can deplete your potassium levels!!! I use it occasionally for GERD.

    Read just a little about chemistry and biology and youll see how moronic claims like this really are.
    In a lot of circumstances claims like this also go beyond plain stupid and actually become harmful when people believe such nonsense.

    If you read something on a website that claims to cure cancer, you should really be asking for evidence to back up these insane claims. There is literally no evidence whatsoever presented in this article so i implore you, please, be more reasonable.

      The person who wrote this article is a fully qualified doctor. His book cites hundreds of research articles easily verified most of which were carried out on behalf of the fda

      I would strongly suggest a little research (I have done now for two years and have seen my mother, a friend and a friends father dramatically improve after taking bicarb of soda. My mother is now cancer free for two uears afyer being given three months to live

      • I understand your scepticism and having taken it myself prior to giving it to my mother, I am still living and breathing.

        In the case of my mother she gad a tumour 10″ x 4″. Not an insignificant size and it punctured her lungs twice. She was given three months to live when the the tumour grew nearly an ince in less than two weeks in between lung punctures.

        I wont say the bicarb cured her, thats for others to decide. Maybe it was the placebo effect

        But if its so bad why do they use it in emergency treatment throughout the world (and yes they do I have friends who ate paramedics in Nyc who would not leave without it)
        Also they are taking seriously this as a real treatment in London. Why would they do that if it was bunkum

        Good luck anyway. It does nit harm and could save a life. That has to be good in my books

    I too am surprised by many of these replies. There is no aluminum is sodium bicarbonate. That is in baking powder. The two are unrelated. Also, the doctor from Italy has stated publicly that you can NOT prevent, or cure, cancer by ingesting it. Secondly, you can not keep your body in an alkaline state. Read any book on physiology and you will see that the body will circumvent you from doing so. So please stop believing these myths.

    The amount of comments on this page stating it’s false by very credible persons and the things they say are very easily verified. So why would CE continue to promote such nonsense?

    It makes me ask the question, Does CE really care? Or do they get off on misinformation and mass confusion?

    Addressing the last few comments that are ridiculing the author and publisher of this article about medicinal uses of baking soda…did you not take notice of the several physicians and scientific researchers quoted in this article? They are the ones with whom you should want to take up the issue of the effectiveness of baking soda aren’t they? It seems that, in addition to the commentators following the article and the author, there are also several reliable “men of science” who are willing to come forward with the evidence that baking soda is an effective medicine for a number of ailments. Whom do you think we should put our trust in — you anonymous posters who may well work for Big Pharma–or the doctors and scientists above willing to put their name in the article? Why Don’t you take it up with Dr. Veysman, Professor Gillies, Dr. Chan and Mark Sircus? This article is well supported by scientific research; address that research if you want to be taken seriously, don’t just attack the author.
