Change Your Beliefs, Change Your World

Loving FreedomOur beliefs are so powerful that they literally create our reality. Our perceptions translate into our experiences. When we become aware of what we believe at our most basic and primal levels, we can understand with much greater clarity why our life experience is the way it is. Beliefs are nothing more than agreements about reality and they can be changed. They are the thoughts that we hold in our imagination and perceive to be real: consciously, subconsciously, and unconsciously. If we choose to create an empowered, loving, and expansive way of living, then our beliefs must match those frequencies. By refusing to acknowledge and integrate new information, we effectively hinder our growth and our chances for survival as a species. Therefore, it is vital that we take an honest look at our innermost beliefs about life and ourselves to determine if these really match up with our highest dreams and aspirations.

“Everyone has a bushel basketful of beliefs collected from many sources.  Genetic inheritance, family proclivities, childhood experiences, social and cultural influences, and numerous impressions from other lifetimes are among some of the contributors to the invisible bundle of beliefs that define your experience in 3-D reality. Beliefs are the thoughts that you hold most often without question, about yourself and the world at large.

These unnoticed thought-forms are birthed in your imagination and stored in your subconscious memory bank, qualifying your experiences in both the inner and outer worlds.  Your beliefs set you up for success or failure.  If your worldview is optimistic, you will generally be self-motivated with a positive attitude and engage life with joy and enthusiasm; however, if your worldview tends to lean toward pessimism and negative interpretations of reality, then a sense of hopelessness and despair will overshadow your every encounter.”
– Barbara Marciniak, from Path of Empowerment: Pleiadian Wisdom for a World in Chaos

ProgressEssentially, all beliefs are either constructive or destructive in nature, based in love or in fear. Loving beliefs expand, unify, and bring forth more life, peace, and higher understandings. Fear-based beliefs contract, separate, and divide, seeking to define and categorize everything so that we are more “protected” and “secure”. While fear-based beliefs have played a role in ensuring our survival,  they only serve us up to a certain point. When the majority of our individual and collective beliefs are rooted in fear, the world takes on a nightmare appeal where crisis, competition, scarcity, killing, famine, and inequality become the norm. Our ego-identities feed on fear and they do their best to run the show, and it is easy to see this promoted throughout world culture and affairs everywhere. However, this does not have to be the case! It is important to realize that we are responsible for the thoughts and beliefs we hold, and that we can choose to change them at any time.  It is not always easy, for fear is stubborn, but it can be done with loving persistence, especially if progress and a better way of life for all is truly our goal.

How can we tell the difference between loving and fear-based beliefs? Our feelings serve as our own internal guidance system that let us know if something is truly serving us or not. Feelings are the language of the soul. Learn to trust them! No matter what anyone else says, your feelings are your own. Do not deny or repress them, for they are a great gift! When examining a thought, idea, or belief, notice how it makes you feel. Does it make you feel good or bad, empowered or restricted?  For example, the belief that “we live in an unlimited multiverse where all things are possible” makes me feel empowered and confident that life has meaning and purpose. On the flipside, the belief that “there is not enough to go around, so we must compete to acquire our resources to survive” makes me feel bad — that something is not quite right and that things don’t have to be this way. There are distinct differences between loving and fearful feelings and as we practice emotional awareness, we can consciously release limiting beliefs and choose more empowering ones. Our emotional state serves as our magnetic point of attraction — we will attract circumstances, people, and situations that match our predominant feelings.

Perhaps the most important thing to remember is that we are always free to choose our own thoughts and beliefs! We each have our own subjective interpretations of reality and NONE of these are wrong or right from an absolute perspective.  Always remember that you are a sovereign and powerful being and that you deserve to feel and experience love on all levels.  Love, joy, appreciation, and a zest for life is our natural state of being!

There is no such thing as Right and Wrong. There is only What Works and What Does Not Work, depending upon what it is that you seek to be, do or have.
— from The New Revelations: A Conversation with God by Neale Donald Walsch

Our beliefs are so powerful that they actually provide the instructions for how well our bodies operate and function.  If we believe that we are naturally healthy and vital beings, we will be. If we believe ourselves to be powerful, creative, and capable, we will be.  If we believe something to be easy or hard, it almost always turns out that way. When we believe ourselves to be victims of circumstance (no matter what the source), we will remain as victims. Possible or impossible, the decision is always up to us. This is the brilliance of it all – we get to choose who and what we wish to become, no matter what anyone else says or thinks! Our attitudes and self-perceptions are vitally important, as we are literally defining and creating who we are in each moment.  Reclaiming our authentic power is one of the most challenging and rewarding aspects we are facing at this time in our lives.

“Humankind is being tested to become much more consciously aware of how to use the power of thought.  You are born with a multitude of abilities, yet your cultivated beliefs insist you are powerless; therefore, these abilities are blocked out or eradicated from neural pathways at an early age.  The key to solving the great planetary crisis you face lies in the compassionate recognition that humanity has essentially developed a collective fear of the power to create.  These times call for you to know your mind and your beliefs and to become an extraordinary creator of your reality.” – Barbara Marciniak, from Path of Empowerment: Pleiadian Wisdom for a World in Chaos

Ask yourself today if your core beliefs are supporting what you really want out of life. By taking your own personal inventory, you can begin to see yourself with greater clarity and perspective. Remember to be compassionate during this process and not be overly judgmental and critical. Let us always accept ourselves fully for who we are in this moment.

  • Have you consciously selected the beliefs you currently hold?
  • What beliefs have you inherited from your family, teachers, and upbringing?
  • What is in the way of you experiencing the freedom and joy that you truly desire?
  • What makes you most angry and is it possible to forgive and let go of judgment in this area?
  • What kind of thoughts and feelings do you have when you wake up in the morning?
  • What is your body worth to you?  Do you treat it well?
  • What do you think about sex?
  • What do you believe about money and possessing great wealth?
  • What influence does your family have in determining your behavior?
  • What kind of world do you really want to live in?
  • What do you think is possible for you to achieve in this lifetime?
  • Do you believe you are truly free?
  • What do you believe you deserve from life?

Asking yourself questions like these regularly and writing down your responses can be most illuminating. It takes courage to do so, but will reveal to you what you really value regarding life, happiness, health, and wealth. If a belief doesn’t truly serve you, consider discarding it or expanding upon it in some way. In certain cases, it is necessary to let a belief go entirely and replace it with a new perspective. Staying flexible and avoiding fanaticism is key! We must transcend our limited beliefs if we are to survive and thrive as a species. Practice positive affirmations and believe in your ability to transform yourself. For more tips on how to change or release limiting beliefs, please see this article.

No matter what, always believe in yourself and in your own worth. You are perfect exactly as you are in this moment, beyond any and all definitions. We all have our own truth. Recognize your magnificence and your brilliance! Don’t be afraid to shine brightly, for this gives others the courage to do the same. If you have any more insightful questions to add to this list, please feel free to make up your own or share them in the comments below. As we continue to expand our beliefs and understandings, our lives become more meaningful and synchronistic. The sincere desire to know ourselves and to seek truth will bring about profound changes in our lives. Our entire perspective of reality continues to shift and is fully supported during these accelerated times. This creates a ripple effect on the world around us and those we are connected to, anchoring in the frequencies for a new way of empowered living.

Progress is progress, no matter how seemingly small!  Continue to lead by example, for the betterment of all!

More From 'Consciousness'

CE provides a space for free thinkers to explore and discuss new, alternative information and ideas. The goal? Question everything, think differently, spread love and live a joy filled life.

  1. Inspiring. I think that deep down we all know the truth of what you are saying here, but we need to be reminded of it. In the philosopy of “As above, so below”, there is a truth which tells us we must change within to see changes on a higher level. Thanks.

Tone Scale revisited. TY for a thoughtful article.

Have you been reading Louise Hay?

  4. this is a pretty good, and inspiring article. thanks. this is a good list, and there are a lot of helpful questions alike this is the author “teal scott’s” the sculptor in the sky, pg83-89 (couldn’t copy and paste since that’s probably copyrighted. but they definitely helped me in raising my vibration from a depressed pessimistic to an optimistic lover. just as I’d recommend that book for anyone who’s serious in raising their vibration, or just learning from her wisdom and knowledge. she has a lovely you tube channel (along with “spirit science”)

Positive thinking is always a good bet, but I see a lot of magical thinking entering into this article. We really don’t control our thoughts. Our thoughts are mostly a product of our egos, and “wanting to control” is a process of the ego/mind itself–trying to control thoughts and/or beliefs can make them rear up in our face in an ugly manner eventually because we are looking for control. We can be the observer though. There is an observer part of all of us.

We can do practices that help us like bringing ourselves into the now (Thic Nhat Hanh and Eckhart Tolle talk about this), the present, away from the past and the future, and using our senses to do that, but again, it can border on the ego wanting to control, so bringing in the compassionate observer rather than the controlling ego is optimal. But the more conscious we are in the moment without trying to control will bring us closer to the truth we seek.

Our beliefs are generally a result of agreements before we come into this life. We agree before we come into this life what things we would like to work on as a soul and how to facilitate that, what kind of body we occupy, what role our families will play in our soul growth, what experiences we will have, etc. The mind’s/ego’s job is to rid us of pain, whether it is through some form of addiction, etc. Sometimes we are meant to experience pain, which can move us through our growth experiences. When we judge it as a “bad” experience, then we are moving into disharmony and suffering.

Positive thinking and beliefs are really secondary to things like gratitude (and eventually God/Beingness realization, which is a grace bestowed upon us, not a choice), especially if control is involved: Acceptance and gratitude will bring us into the harmony and peace we seek. Rather than trying to control our thoughts and beliefs, which really doesn’t add to our growth, it is better to observe and bring ourselves into the now, and consciously accept our experiences with compassion, and learn from them as we were intended to do–they are there for a reason.

The world is always changing and to try to stop that, or our experiences, is bordering on fear of pain and denial of pain and ego control. Evil and darkness define the light, and to deny them leads to the very evil and pain people try to avoid.

    • Te

Our thoughts are magical. And just becauae you don’t yet have control over yours does not mean that I do not have control over mine. Namaste.

      • Monique

It seems rather arrogant to assume that about someone. Or to relegate all thought to simply being ego. Seems to be missing psychic phenomena for starters. Control here goes with domination, the old style authoritarian approach. There are other ways to work with & flow with all that is. Inlakeshalakin.

    • Caroline K.

I also think there is an element of judgment and duality when we define things as positive or negative. Existence just is, it is only our egos that try to define and categorize and control. When we can transcend negative and positive, or good or bad, then we find more truth in our lives, and a part of this is an acceptance of our lives the way they are, so that we can move through our experiences to find growth and to expand beyond ourselves. I think it is important for people to do shadow work also because it involves an acceptance, and a lack of judgment (ego mind exercise), which allows us to transcend labels. Looking for the sugary, candy coated ego life is a recipe for disaster in most cases. It is a form of denial that shuts us off from our own growth.

      • Grace B.

I think this is New Age bunk and here is why:

Belief always reinforces ego and ego always produces both desire and fear, which is the cyclic polarized inner action that keeps the wheel of karma turning.

The mind believes as a way to possess a thought, either positive or negative and make it as real as possible. The mind also believes in order to make itself real, as an identity and separate entity – but in doing so reinforces the always secondary belief in separation. Mental belief causes the delusion of separation and the accompanying delusion of yearning/seeking to be one again with our own self.

Belief, either positive or negative, being always polarized and with unconscious shadow projected somewhere in our inner or outer (collective)self, pushes our consciousness into a polarized state which causes us to become unconscious of our own ENLIGHTENMENT, which is never not HERE, no matter how deluded we become.

In our TRUE ENLIGHTENED STATE of BEING belief is obsolete in us, something that is completely transcended and what is left instead is highly attuned INTUITION, which is of the Universal Heart, not the egoic and deluded mind.

The misinterpretation of the law of attraction which states that our thoughts should be positive in order to attract positive experience in our lives is totally missing the mark! Reinforcement of EGO does not liberate us from delusion, and UNTIL we are liberated from delusion, there is NOTHING for us to do but focus on being liberated. Anything else is serving ego’s wants and fears and little, puny asshole self… instead of love and compassion for all earthlings.

Some communication is written as a way to assist depending on state… Am not a fan of the “I” word here. Dogma that “ego reinforces belief” that is stated as fact rather than question, doesn’t resonate here. There can be various factors at play, too simplistic sounding here. If you are truly there, are you going to call ego a “puny little asshole self”? This part has played a role also & if you are love, then you also have love empathy & compassion for the egoic states. Appreciate the article & the assistance that may give to those who may read it. Cheerio :)

  6. Thank you for a great article! Absolutely spot-on :-)

  7. Great article, thanks! The picture of Emotional Guidance scale – the same idea as Abraham Hicks had. Everything is fine there except the assumption that it’s always good to move up the spiral. It doesn’t feel right that becoming jealous and seeking for revenge is better than feeling depressed and victimized. Sounds too selfish to me.

    • Monique

Actually question the origin & understanding of such quotes as the “as above”. Question many of the premises & basis of the original article. That imposes various belief structures about reality via its impositions of concepts & ideas as factual.! Experience & research are showing a great deal of Hegelian dialectic going on, everywhere. Am highly questioning of such as Abraham Hicks. Do you understand where these ideas are coming from? Of the influences historically that have shaped various ideas & conceptualisations? The manipulations are appearing with greater clarity & connection from here…

  8. Accelerated times… what a unique way to say it. I’ve read a lot on this subject and had thought I’d rid of all of my limiting beliefs but living in Los Angeles, trying to start a business and improve myself has taught me I may still have a few. “When we believe ourselves to be victims of circumstance (no matter what the source), we will remain as victims.” This line caught my attention and will hopefully help me discover new beliefs as I’ve never examined them in a circumstance. I like the questions too. I think I’m going to start a journal and actually stay with it this time. Thanks.

    • Monique

What a load of nonsense… Yeah, those billion people starving to death presently are there because of their beliefs… Its like bogus notions of “karma” that are tailored for elitist feudal caste systems – those people are suffering because some assholes are insane & greedy, not because they were “bad in a past life”…

Having spent a bit of time now on these subjects, unable to sit through that conceited tripe “the secret” & finding links between the new age, secret societies/services… Not to mention philosophies that suit authoritarian, fascist systems…

Louise Hay is an incredible system bot & likely Operation Monarch candidate… These types support an essentially corrupt system & encourage participation in it. If they were for real, there is no way they would do that…

Here’s some links to get you started…
