TurkeyMore than 45 million of these beautiful birds are killed every year for thanksgiving. When not forced to live on filthy factor farms, turkeys spend their days caring for their young, building nests, foraging for food, taking dust baths, preening themselves and more. They are regarded by many as just a holiday centerpiece, but turkeys have wonderful personalities just like dogs and cats. They love having their feathers stroked, they are conscious, living, breathing beings that have every right to be here as much as you and I do.

According to the US Department of Agriculture, nearly 10 billion animals are raised and killed for food each year in the United States alone. Throughout history, it seems humans have always consumed animals, but it was done so from a place of gratitude, spirit and understanding. Animals were taken only out of necessity, and the inhabitants on Earth in our history had a great deal of respect for them. Today, meat is not necessary, it’s a choice. In fact, there is a lot of evidence to suggest that a vegetarian or vegan diet is a healthier choice.
