Harvard Research Finds Link Between Fluoridated Water, ADHD & Mental Disorders

Fluoride_ADHD_HarvardNew research published in The Lancet by researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) found that various chemicals that many children are exposed to are having a direct effect on the creation of disorders labelled under the name ADHD as well as other mental disorders. One of the chemicals said to be having an effect is fluoride, or variations of fluoride. Governments have been performing artificial fluoridation for a number of years regardless of the lack of effectiveness it has in preventing tooth decay.

The research began in a study published in 2006 which initially looked at the effects of various industrial chemicals on neuro-development.[1] The research continued with an analysis of more industrial chemicals including fluoride. 27 additional studies, including one that linked fluoride to the lowering of IQ in children, clearly illustrated the fact that fluoride is detrimental to brain development and can lead to autism spectrum disorders and other mental issues. The issue is being coined “a silent epidemic” and most health authorities continue to turn a blind eye to the issue.

The two main researchers involved in the study, Philippe Grandjean from HSPH and Philip Landrigan, both agree that the reason for the increase in incidences of chemical-related neuro-developmental disorders is due to the increasing number of untested chemicals that are being approved without proper testing. The public is also not fully being told of the dangers which is causing many to perform independent research to find out the true effects. The issue is not just in water fluoridation, but also in the vaccination of our children.

“Since 2006, the number of chemicals known to damage the human brain more generally, but that are not regulated to protect children’s health, had increased from 202 to 214,” writes Julia Medew for The Sydney Morning Herald. “The pair said this could be the tip of the iceberg because the vast majority of the more than 80,000 industrial chemicals widely used in the United States have never been tested for their toxic effects on the developing fetus or child.”

The fact is, fluoride is a known developmental neurotoxin and practices of water fluoridation have long been proven to be ineffective. If individuals choose to use fluoridated tooth paste or choose fluoride treatments at their dental office, that is acceptable but two things should happen:

1. People should be taught about the harmful effects of fluoride and the damage it can cause to your teeth and your body.

2. Water fluoridation should be stopped everywhere immediately as it is nothing more than a legal way for chemical companies to get rid of toxic waste while profiting.

Fluoride accumulates in the body over time, so even though the amounts being ingested might be small each time, it builds up over years and can cause serious health issues. Research has found that fluoride affects normal endocrine function, causes kidney disease, bone weakness, dental fluorosis, cancer, lowering of IQ, calcification of the pineal gland, arthritis, immune deficiencies, skeletal fluorosis and much more.

“The problem is international in scope, and the solution must therefore also be international,” stated Grandjean in a press release, calling for improved regulatory standards for common chemicals. “We have the methods in place to test industrial chemicals for harmful effects on children’s brain development — now is the time to make that testing mandatory.”

  1. Fluoride is a very harmful food and water additive. It is only good if you want to damage your health, as it gets rid of healthy cells, clogs up your brain and pineal gland, and weakens your immune system. It also causes dental fluorosis, not prevent tooth decay! Plus you get all the mental disorders listed above if you don’t get your water filtered. Don’t ever drink fluoridated water, or use fluoridated toothpaste. Save your health, and don’t buy products from people who poison you while they literally make a killing off of you and your family! http://thehealingfrequency.com/food-additives-killers/

The solution for the fluoridation issue is very simple.
    SIMPLE SOLUTION:
    1. Take the toxic waste fluoride chemical out of the drinking water.
    2. It is still legal and available, so those who wish to take it can then put fluoride in their own glass of water.
    3. Leave the rest of us out of it, giving everyone the freedom of choice.
    PROBLEM SOLVED FOR EVERYONE.

I agree, we should be able to access a supply of drinking water without any such additives. Not happy with the stubbornness of local and nation authorities on this matter.

Be conscious of fluoride and everything it is in. We can get away from chem-trails, but check out your products and medicines.
I stopped drinking tap water or using toothpaste, altogether. Instead I drink spring or distilled water and use baking soda for my teeth. I felt better, more clear-headed and energetic within a week.

In the Lancet study, it’s mentioned in the summary, at least: “Since 2006, epidemiological studies have documented six additional developmental neurotoxicants—manganese, fluoride, chlorpyrifos, dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, tetrachloroethylene, and the polybrominated diphenyl ethers.” I do not have access to the full article though.

Has anyone thought that it could be any of the chemicals they put in the water? I drank water that had fluoride in it. I DO NOT have ADHD nor any other problems, just excellent teeth.

I’m surprised that this section was not mentioned in the article above:

“Lead poisoning is especially hazardous for pregnant women, as her unborn child is also at risk. When a mother inhales small quantities of lead, the chemical gathers in the bloodstream and eventually makes its way to the placenta, where it accumulates in the growing fetus’ bones and brain. Grandjean and Landrigan believe this is just one chemical of many, many more that exist in the world and are carelessly exposed to consumers on a regular basis. Together, the chemicals contribute to what the team calls, “a silent pandemic.”

“The problem is international in scope, and the solution must therefore also be international,” said Grandjean in a news release. “We have the methods in place to test industrial chemicals for harmful effects on children’s brain development — now is the time to make that testing mandatory.”

Source: Grandjean P, Landrigan P. Neurobehavioural effects of developmental toxicity. The Lancet. 2014.

I believe the source or these “small quantities of lead” is toner exhaust, the “new asbestos”:

    https://www.nano-control.de/english.php
“The following substances have been detected in toners and emissions of laser printers and copying machines to a considerable amount:

metals: antimony, aluminum, ferrum, lead, gold, cobalt, cadmium, chromium, copper, manganese, nickel, palladium, mercury, silver, silicium, strontium, titanium, tin, zin

They’re beginning to admit the issue, and even if they’re not naming the source, it’s easy to put 2 and 2 together if you have the pieces.

I am currently diagnosed with ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), the only known cause is heavy metal poisoning, and I’ve tested extremely high for lead (and cadmium, mercury, titanium …). Although I’m recovering, there were times when my vision was so affected that I could barely read, and I definitely still have problems focussing on anthing if I’m even a bit tired or stressed.

I hope that corporations will no longer be able to hide illegal ingredients in consumer products by playing their “trade secret” card.

How about all the chemicals, food dye, preservatives they put in our foods, soaps, etc. Look at what goes in the meats. Has anyone done the research on what happens to children’s teeth without fluorinated water? It is not a pretty picture. Between the frequent snacking and sugary drinks on the market, most peoples teeth are constantly under acid attacks. Ph drops. It takes 20 min to recover. Most, not ALL,people complaining about fluoride will be the first ones to hand their kids a can of soda and some artificial something or other. Try using a filter on your faucet to minimize.Go easy on the fluoride, most need it.

Have you heard of fluorosis where the fluoride weakens and mottles teeth? Regular inexpensive filters do not take it out. Fluoride is carcinogenic, mutagenic, moves calcium into soft tissue and is neurotoxic. That is just all that comes to mind at the moment. It does not help prevent cavities, except in the overflowing pockets of wealth the fertilizer and other toxic industries (aluminum) that use our public water sources as profitable dumping grounds for their hazardous waste. It is unfortunate that people are still drinking and giving their children soda pop, etc. Fluoride is just another toxic burden for their undernourished bodies to cope with. It is listed in the EPA Manual about pesticides as rat and roach poison. And didn’t some of you notice the part where it accumulates in tissues over years (maybe not so many years with all its helper toxins in use) and leads to serious problems? It is one of the things to look for as a cause of infant eczema. The science that promotes fluoride is quite antiquated, but it works for the industries’ profits and gives some people a nice sense of modern human accomplishment. Such a clever species.

There is no need for it at all! It is poison! It’s not good for your teeth! It is definitely not good to swallow! Or shower with your body absorbs whatever comes in contact with it in 23 seconds so within that short amount of time you can have chemicals show up in your major organs and blood stream!

I agree with you, dawn, that food additives/substitutes/GMOs … are part of the problem. I consider my survival from severe heavy metal poisoning to be largely due to my avoidance of these and all toxic cleaners/sprays etc. I’ve also drunk only spring water for at least the last 25 years – even without fluoride, tap water I’d hesitate to drink tap water. Btw, it’s helped that I’ve been “multi-chemically” sensitive all my life; I had the Melisa test recently, and learned that my main problem, which I know from experience must be in a fairly large number of perfume and cleaning products, is arsenic.

And if you’re concerned about teeth, cortisone sprays, prescribed for many breathing difficulties today, is very, very bad for teeth. According to my sister’s experience with cortisone creams for skin allergies, it thins the skin, making it much more fragile and sensitive. I can easily assume that it would have the same effect on lungs. I’ve avoided it, and no longer need theophylline either.

Perhaps junk food chemicals and others are not specifically identified, as toner is not explicitly mentioned, for the same reason as stated by one of the researchers,

“The problem is international in scope, and the solution must therefore also be international,” said Grandjean in a news release. “We have the methods in place to test industrial chemicals for harmful effects on children’s brain development — now is the time to make that testing mandatory.”

We should also consider the strong possibility that these same internationally sold corporation produced chemicals are largely responsible for adult illnesses as well.

Filtering water does not take fluor out.
    Neather does boiling or freezing.
You can only remove by distiling it.
Dont drink any tap water not even when filtered.
You can drink coconut water and premium beers contain distiled water.
Watch out for beer made from corn and beer that contains conservatives.
O and ofcourse one can drink filtered rain water if you dont live close to a flying route.

Ps forgiv my spelling ingested to much fluor as kid.

I read the meta-analysis and sources for the data and it is as follows:

“Most of the epidemiological information available on associations with children’s neurodevelopment is from China, where fluoride generally occurs in drinking water as a natural contaminant, and the concentration depends on local geological conditions. In many rural communities in China, populations with high exposure to fluoride in local drinking-water sources may reside in close proximity to populations without high exposure ”

“Such circumstances are difficult to find in many industrialized countries, because fluoride concentrations in community water are usually no higher than 1 mg/L, even when fluoride is added to water supplies as a public health measure to reduce tooth decay. Multiple epidemiological studies of developmental fluoride neurotoxicity were conducted in China because of the high fluoride concentrations that are substantially above 1 mg/L in well water in many rural communities”

  14. Actually work in water… This headline and the leap made by this aggregator are simply incorrect. This is the only actual mention of fluoridation in the ENTIRE report, which anyone can read by registering with The Lancet. (It’s FREE to sign up for and I invite all of you to read it for yourselves.) “A meta-analysis of 27 cross-sectional studies of children exposed to fluoride in drinking water, mainly from China, suggests an average IQ decrement of about seven points in children exposed to raised fluoride concentrations.” That’s it.

The studies from China (and Europe) discuss the impact of fluoridation at levels that are exponentially higher than those found in the U.S. because of the commonly high levels of naturally occurring fluoride in these countries. This is a fact also supported by the National Academy of Sciences.

What the report REALLY focuses on are a wide variety of industrial chemicals and substances like lead and how they are of a concern. And they should be of concern. Fluoride is lumped in and barely mentioned because of its low naturally occurring levels in the U.S. and that fact that the other substances that are highlighted are of a far greater concern to U.S. residents.

Your article said new research. I can only find the study from 2006. Where is the link to the new research?

    Reply
  16. that is a really misleading article! The original article it misquotes from uses fluoride studies from a Harvard metastudy. That study looked at very high fluoride levels in China near factories, and found lowered IQ. The fluoride levels comparable to those in our drinking water showed no difference at all. Fluoride, like a lot of chemicals, is dose dependant.
So while they are right to be concerned about a lot of other chemicals and possible links to problems like ADHD and autism, putting fluoridated water in the title is incorrect.

    • You’re defending the use of fluoride. I think you’ve been drinking too much of it, now you can’t think properly for yourself. Hitler was the first one to use fluoride to dumb down and make people more easy to manipulate and control. It’s a by-product of toxic aluminum factories… It’s not good for anyones health whatsoever. It makes peoples pineal gland sick which is more important part of the brain that anyone even realises. I would like to see your evidence why you think medicating peoples water with toxic chemicals without their approval is okay, even if it was good for peoples dental health, but it isn’t.
Do some more research please :)

I am not a scientist but I am an observer. In my younger days we didn’t have fluoride in the water and pretty much everybody had tooth decay. Now we do have it and tooth decay is almost non existent so the people in this blog that says it doesn’t work for tooth decay opera to be wrong. I know a fellow that was anti tap water and he got a filter. All his kids have decay problems and I expect that a lot of people on this blog, if they were honest about it, would be able to report the same thing about their kids

This article, like most ones on the web that talk doom and gloom, distorts the facts and unfortunately there are a whole lot of people convinced that whatever the government is involved in has to be wrong so they immediately are against it and they will distort or down right lie to prove their point. Don’t be one of the sheep. When you see these kinds of posts do your own research. 95% of the time you will see that these posts are far fetched ideas at best and lies at worst. Enjoy the life you have. We are healthier and live longer than ever before. That’s the fact
