Russell Brand has become quite the talking point amongst activist types. Whether it be what he shares about his thoughts on our overall society or something as focused as the war on drugs, Russell seems to always have something intelligent and thought provoking to say – something I think we all wish our politicians and world leaders were capable of as well.

Russell may be most well known for his calls for revolution, especially the he gave to Jeremy Paxton during an interview where he spoke about why he refuses to vote. Brand stated “It is not that I am not voting out of apathy. I am not voting out of absolute indifference and weariness and exhaustion from the lies, treachery and deceit of the political class that has been going on for generations.”

Of course he hasn’t gone without receiving a great deal of backlash from others due to his outspoken nature. Even many in the realm of activism were very weary of Brand’s popularity when he began speaking out as the belief was that he was being used as part of an agenda to distract the people and make them focus on things that do not matter. While this could be probable and has been done in the past, I never quite felt this way and also felt that there was something about Russell’s message that many simply weren’t thinking about. I shared that here.

Brand’s Thoughts On the War On Drugs

Brand, who has had his own experiences with drug addiction in the past, has also spoken out about the war on drugs and what he has to say is once again quite thought provoking. He appeared on Channel 4 news with Jon Snow and shared views on the dangers of drugs and also dangers associated with the state making their use a criminal act.
