A video that’s making its way around the web seems to be going viral, and that’s because it has a very positive and uplifting message about love that seems to be resonating with most people on the planet today. That being said, there are still many people out there who are opposed to gay marriage, interracial couples, mixed religion couples and more.
The video is a great example of how love has no gender, no age, no race, no disability, no religion and no limitations. Love is love, and if it’s real love it has no conditions or criteria.
While watching this video, a quote from Morgan Freeman came to mind.
“How do we stop racism? Stop talking about it. I’m going to stop calling you a white man, and I’m going to ask you to stop calling me a black man.” (source)
Morgan makes a great point here, racism and inequality aren’t something we are born with. It’s something we are taught, and appears to be slipping away as the newer generations come in. For those of us who truly feel everybody is all the same, what is the point of acknowledging it? Are we just perpetuating it by constantly bringing it up? What are your thoughts? (Feel free to share in the comments section below).
If somebody feels that gay marriage, for example, is the same as “straight” marriage, would they have to smile at that gay couple? Would they have to show them that they are not prejudice against such a thing? Would they assume that the gay couple assumes that there is some prejudice? If one truly feels that there is nothing wrong with it, why would they even bring it up? At the same time, there is still a harsh resistance, and although the world is making strides in the right direction, many barriers still have to be brought down. It’s hard to believe that it’s 2015 and we still have to “fight” for this, but we do.
Morgan’s words resonate with me, as does the idea of putting on a public display as you see in the video below. There are still many out there who condemn this type of stuff, and public displays like this can help open open up their hearts.
From our relationships with each other, to large scale global relationships between nations, it’s time to rid ourselves of the invisible borders we’ve made, and realize that we are all one in the same. Love is the key to changing this planet. From love, our potential to create a human experience where everyone can thrive is very possible. We have the means to do so, but the action must come from a place of love. It’s time to realize we are one human race, it’s time to change and it starts with you – the person in the mirror.
