This is how Florida photographer Kate Murray described the moment she captured a breast cancer patient feeding her baby after a having one of her breasts removed due to cancer:
“This is the definition of strength, love, and pure raw beauty. Mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer halfway through pregnancy with her surprise gender baby. She had one breast removed and underwent chemo while carrying her miracle baby. She was induced at 36 weeks in order to receive more treatment. Baby BOY was born ready to prove to the world his strength he inherited from his strong mommy. He latched on to her remaining breast all on his own and the room erupted in so many emotions. Breastfeeding is such a sacred bond, and this one just makes my heart break and swell at the same time. I am beyond blessed to have met and gotten to know this woman and her family, and so honored she asked me to be there to document these precious moments. Please share, and continue to pray for this family as they go into their next journey together!” (source)(source)
The mother you see in the photo was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer while she was pregnant. She actually went through chemotherapy and had a breast removed while she was pregnant with her baby. Afterwards, she gave birth to a completely healthy baby boy. Murray captured a couple beautiful photos while the baby was feeding and also shared this on her Facebook page:
A great story that shows our potential to overcome adversity and that brings more awareness to a disease that seems to be taking over our world.
Cancer Rates And Causes
Millions upon millions of people are diagnosed with cancer every single year and cases continue to rise around the world by alarming percentages. Today, odds are that you have had or have cancer, or know somebody who does/has.
In Canada, approximately one million Canadians that were alive at the beginning of 2009 have had a cancer diagnosis in the previous 10 years. Two out of every five Canadians will develop cancer within their life time, and one in every four will die.(source) In the United States, one out of every two men, and one out of ever three women will be diagnosed with cancer.
This seems ridiculous doesn’t it? Having almost a 50/50 chance of getting cancer? We are supposed to be in the age of medical and health advancements. One problem is that we are surrounded by household products, foods, pesticides, toxic cosmetics and several other environmental factors in our daily lives that many scientists believe could be the culprit of such high rates. For example, not long ago a chemical found in Colgate toothpaste (Triclosan) was linked to cancer, you can read more about that here.
Many Things Linked To Cancer
A host of other things have also been linked to cancer, including the pesticides that are commonly sprayed on our food and in the environment. Each year, an estimated 1 billion pounds of pesticides are applied to U.S. farms, forests, lawns and golf courses. More than 17,000 pesticide products are currently on the market.
Just recently, the world’s most credible medical journal finally acknowledged the link between cancer and Monsanto’s roundup herbicide, you can read more about that here. Another great example comes out of Argentina, where cancer rates have now doubled in the agribusiness areas, you can read about that here. Put that together with other studies that have shown a strong correlation between GMOs, pesticides and cancer (like this one) and it becomes less difficult to see what is happening here.
Other culprits that scientists have pondered are things like aluminum in deodorant (source), and other factors like mammograms, which some experts are saying could be the biggest catastrophe in women’s health today, actually causing breast cancer instead of identifying it – you can read more about that here.
The number of factors that seem to be contributing to cancer rates rising are overwhelming, enormous and all around us. It’s a shame we are constantly trying to raise money for the cause, with hardly any attention brought to cancer prevention and what we are surrounded with/put on and in our bodies on a daily basis. It simply makes no sense.
When it comes to cancer treatments, we have seen more and more people gravitate away from chemotherapy and into alternative treatments that, scientifically, have shown a great deal of antitumoral effects when it comes to treating cancer cells in a laboratory setting. Cannabis is a great example, many people are incorporating this into their routine (take orally in raw or oil state. Smoking it can change the chemical composition and render its antitumoral effects useless), either with or without chemotherapy.
One great example is Mykala Comstock. She had T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, a very rare and aggressive form of childhood leukaemia. You can read more about her story here.
Don’t you find it perplexing how again, scientists have demonstrated repeatedly for decades that cannabis kills cancer cells, yet we have almost no clinical trials that have taken place? When a new drug shows half the potential cannabis has, it seems that clinical trials are instantly arranged and sometimes rushed so they can get the product to market.
Diet has also been a huge factor, a number of people have had success incorporating raw fruits and vegetables into their diet. Along with these methods (two out of several) more people are starting to become aware of the power of human consciousness when it comes to our biology. The placebo effect is a great example, you can read more about that, and view studies here. There have also been fascinating studies regarding human intention and distant healing when it comes to cancer patients, you can read more about that here.
Why People Are Choosing Alternative Treatments
One big reason is the fact that there have been many success stories, coupled with the science that supports these claims. Again, cannabis is a great example.
“Everyone should know that most cancer research is largely a fraud, and that the major cancer research organisations are derelict in their duties to the people who support them” – Linus Pauling, two time Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, one of the most important scientists of the 20th century. (source)
Another reason seems to be industry fraud, and the financial incentives to suppress potential cancer cures. Just as Kimberly Carter Gamble, CEO of clear compass media points out:
Industry fraud is nothing new:
“It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgement of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of the New England Journal of Medicine” (considered to be one of the most prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals in the world). – Dr Marcia Angell, Physician, Author, Former Editor in Chief of the NEJM (source)
The University of Michigan’s Comprehensive Cancer Center published an analysis in 2009, that revealed popular cancer studies to be false. Unsurprisingly the primary cause of fabricated results was determined to be conflicts of interest that created results that work out best for drug companies rather than for the people. (source)
