How does this all link to making your bed? Stick with this article and you will find out.

Often people feel intimidated by this concept as it inevitably leads one to question, How exactly can little old me have an impact on the planet? Well, it is important to know that each and everyone of us is absolutely capable of making change and the first step towards accomplishing this is to believe in yourself. As Howard Zinn once said:

“We don’t have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in the process of change. Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world.”

Change starts within. Recognizing that there is something that can change in the first place is the first step to helping shift it.

So, How Can You Really Make Change?

There are countless ways to make changes in your life. First, it may be helpful to actually make a list of things that you would like to change — maybe it’s journalling every day, maybe it’s eating healthier or exercising, or maybe it’s smiling more, meditating more, or sleeping more. Whatever it is, write it down and then make a conscious effort to do it. You may be wondering, How is this going to do anything to actually create change?

By doing these things to better yourself you will start to change internally; you may start feeling happier or more peaceful, you might feel the need to ‘escape’ less often, or you might begin to let go of past resentments. Something inside of you will change, and people will see it. Inevitably, it will rub off on them as well. People learn more through positive example than they do through being lectured.

The following video is a great example of how doing just one thing differently every day can snowball into a whole bunch of other things, because in doing at least this one thing, you’ve already started your day having accomplished something.

The Importance Of Making Your Bed (Video) 

“If you make your bed in the morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. By the end of the day that one task completed, will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that the little things in life matter. If you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to do the big things right. And if by chance you have a miserable day, you will come home to a bed that’s made, that you made. And a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better. So, if you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.”
