Mystery Teachings From the Book ‘Secrets of Heaven’

Published

on

angels3Imagine having the perspective of the angels and invisible teachers that watch over our world for a moment. The insight, clarity and understanding from this vantage point would be astonishing. Being able to experience the mental, emotional and energetic states of all beings as they truly are in each moment would be an amazing perspective to behold. Believe it or not, there are groups of non-physical beings who watch over us individually and our planet as a whole. Each of us has a strong and intimate relationship with these beings that extends beyond our physical reality. They are with us at this very moment, if we can only just be still enough to feel their presence. Usually thought of as angels, guides, teachers and our spiritual family, they assist us by providing intuitive guidance, inspired thought, creative insight and a multitude of other ingenious forms of divine assistance that we cannot fully comprehend right now.

To appreciate and experience this relationship firsthand, it helps to develop stillness of mind through conscious breathing and regular meditation practice. Being receptive is key. Call on your guides in a genuine manner and be open to receiving unexpected forms of assistance. These teachers are found by focusing your attention inward; they are not “out there” somewhere. Even if we deny their existence, their help is still ongoing and available to us, especially in times of great need or danger, where we often act in inexplicable ways without fully realizing why.

Why are these Angels here with us? Part of the reason is to remind us where we really come from and of our true purpose for being in the world. We each have very specific reasons for being in these bodies at this time, which will make full use of the gifts we bring from beyond the physical realm. No matter how wealthy, successful or stimulated we are, until we work towards actualizing this greater purpose, we will always feel unfulfilled and uneasy deep down. It is important that we understand this. We are each here to activate the deeper spiritual Knowledge within ourselves–our true connection to God–which goes far beyond the intellectual mind and is the source of all power and love in the universe.

“Knowledge is the deeper spiritual mind that the Creator has given to each person. It is the source of all meaningful action, contribution and relationships. It is our natural inner guidance system. Its reality is mysterious, but its presence can be directly experienced. Knowledge is remarkably wise and effective in guiding each person in finding his or her right relationships, work and contribution. It is equally effective in preparing one to recognize the many pitfalls and deceptions that exist along the way. It is the basis for seeing, knowing and acting with certainty and strength. It is the foundation of life.” — via Steps to Knowledge

SoH3I would like to share with you a powerful new book called Secrets of Heaven, the latest release from the New Message from God world teachings. The book contains 300 short mystery teachings that have the potential to inspire you at a deep and genuine level. It is a great book that you can pick up at any page and find piercing insights to contemplate and motivate you back on track. I find it incredible that reading just a few short sentences can move me at the level of spirit like some of these passages do.

The hidden truths and wisdom found within these pages were first revealed to messenger Marshall Vian Summers in a series of mysterious angelic encounters starting in 1983 in the deserts of the American Southwest. For the past 30 years, Summers has continued to receive these profound communications, which are now digitally recorded as they are originally received and then transcribed. Listening to the voice that comes through Summers is very unique; it is unlike any human voice I have ever heard and is truly a powerful presence to behold. My inner knowing confirms to me that the Angelic Assembly is speaking through Summers as one voice and this continues to inspire me to be of service while I am here in this body.

“From the depths of Mystery come the Secrets of Heaven. They have come to take you deeper into the experience of mystery and purpose that surrounds your presence in the world. The Angels of Heaven seek to share with you what has long been forgotten in the world. Miraculously, as if whispered across time and space, these secrets have now come to you. You have found them.

At a time of great change in the world, Heaven seeks to reveal to you the long-forgotten truths that once guided the prophets, poets, messengers and mystics throughout the ages. Here the ancient memory and awareness that dwells within you can be rekindled, revealing your greater gifts and purpose in the world. The Secrets of Heaven hold the power to unlock these gifts, deep at the heart of humanity. With these gifts, there is new hope for the world.

Heaven asks you to receive its secrets. Each secret is a window into a greater reality. Each secret is an opportunity to peer through the looking glass, and see ourselves as we are seen from above. Now we are looking through the eyes of Heaven to see ourselves, others and the world as never before.” — from the book cover

The New Message is the most profound and direct set of teachings that I have come across in my life. Why is it so powerful? Because it provides a fresh and universal perspective from the Creator when we need it most. It is not based on any existing world religion and is meant for all regardless of background, religion, culture or creed. It helps us to understand how we fit into a universe that is filled with intelligent life at all levels of evolution — including those beings that do not have our best interests at heart. It has helped me move beyond just a human perspective of all things, beginning with the development of a universal identity and awareness, which allows me to appreciate that we are part of an even bigger panorama of life. It acknowledges the grave challenges that we face now and in the future: surviving the Great Waves of Change and facing extraterrestrial intervention and competition from beyond the world. I find that the New Message addresses these vital issues with piercing clarity and honesty, written in a way that even a 10 year old child could understand it.

While the New Message may be rejected and opposed by many, there is an important message that it aims to make clear: If we do not successfully recognize and navigate the crucial challenges ahead, humanity will face a grave and precipitous decline in the future, leading to tremendous loss and untold suffering. Our world system is very vulnerable in many ways and a great shakeup or collapse in its functioning would change everything. I believe that accepting failure as a possibility is not a negative viewpoint, it is simply recognizing what is possible. What is up ahead is not set in stone, as we are all active contributors to its unfolding, but continuing to sow the seeds of our demise as a collective is not a wise decision.

Right now, we are vastly underestimating the misuse and abuse of our planet and its resources and what this will mean for our future. It is also becoming increasingly evident that we are being visited by an increasing number of extraterrestrial forces both in our skies and underground. In many cases these are beings who are here to deceive us and capitalize on our weaknesses, committing serious violations and abuses to humans worldwide almost totally in secret. I feel that we cannot afford to keep burying our heads in the sand on these issues. Human greed, arrogance and ignorance are some of our biggest vices and they must be overcome if we are to have any chance at becoming a free and self-sufficient interplanetary race. It is up to us to individually reclaim our ability to serve as vehicles for Spirit and Knowledge to express itself through us, for humanity needs strong, dedicated and effective individuals now and in the challenging times ahead.

The fate of humanity will be determined in the next 20 years—the condition of the world, the condition of the human family, the fate and the future of human civilization. You are no longer alone in the world or even in the universe. Of course. You do not know what is occurring and what is coming over the horizon because you are too afraid to see and too arrogant, assuming that you know. That is why the Revelation must be given to show you what you cannot see and do not know. beyond human speculation and estimation. This is embedded in all of the Teachings of the New Message.” — from The Recitation, Apr. 9, 2011

I do not share this with you to incite fear. Rather, I share this with you to inspire your courage and willingness to be of service to a world and race that is truly in need. Your contribution is needed and this is why you came here — to help and serve during this time of difficult transition. So I invite you to consider the following secrets deeply and with your full attention, taking a moment to be with them and allowing them to resonate at a deeper level. There are so many that I would like to share with you, but for brevity’s sake, I have included 45 in this article for you to consider and take from them what you will.

The Angelic Presence

#1: We are above the surface of your world, and yet your environment is as transparent to us as a shallow pond with fish. Even more so, since we have lived in that pond so many times ourselves. How much more we know. If the fish could but listen to the thoughts of its observers who stand over its domain, it could learn of everything else—of the trees and the sky, the flowers, the source of the water that feeds its pond and the destiny of the water that is drained from its pond. It is the same for you. You could learn what lies beyond your domain, for like the fish, you live within a whole universe, not within a little pond. Though the fish may live its entire life in such a small place, it swims in the whole universe, with the sky and the stars above it and below it as well. Is this not also true with you?

#2: We make ourselves public so that you may know our presence and know that there is a Master Plan. It is this Plan that you must now become aware of, for until you do, your life will be aimless, without certain purpose, with only your errors to teach you.

#3: We wish for you all to receive the joy that awaits you. In our world, there is joy. There are very few in this world who can contain the joy that we feel. We are not bound by what cannot succeed. We are not hopeless. We are not alone.

#48: We know how to resolve the difficulties that the world faces because we have resolved them for ourselves.

#133: Many of you will wonder who we are. We are what you will become.

#120: Our names are not known in the world. It is because our charge is not this world alone. There are many Teachers who attend to the world singularly. It is their purpose to do so. And yet our charge is to unite this world and prepare it for the Greater Community.

#231: We are bound to the physical by our obligations and desire to serve, which are the same. We have access to a Greater Reality, yet we exist here. We are nourished by this Greater Reality, and that is why we can exist in our capacity without misery. We serve our Spiritual Family, whom we love. We know our limits. We take full advantage of our strengths. We follow our Teachers, whom you cannot hear. We represent them as they represent those beyond them.

#169: It is not important whether you believe in our presence or not. This can only be known, and belief adds little testimony to it.

The Role of God

#5: God must enter a world where God is not welcome, in ways that do not generate fear and panic amongst those who believe the world is their only reality. It is for this reason that the Will of God manifests itself in subtle and ingenious ways in this world.

#10: God answers through the Teachers. They are God’s answer. They can translate the Will of God into an experience that you can accept, recognize and appreciate. It is through these relationships that the Will of God will become ever present to you.

#285: You need a larger perspective to comprehend the work of God. God is not human. God does not think like a human. God is not made in your image. God has no image. The Source of all life accounts for all life.

Preparation for Great Changes Ahead

#11: Now the old age draws to an end. Difficult will its ending be and turbulent. And yet you are preparing for the advent of this change and the beginning of a new order. The turmoil that you have felt in your individual lives is an indication that you are in preparation for a world in change.

#147: Your world is in a predictable stage of evolution. Think not it is unique, for all civilizations pass through these difficult transition periods. Many of them fail. Humanity is in the process of entering a more mature state.

#220: In this period of time, because you all sense imminent change, you react according to your personal inclinations. Some seek to revitalize old traditions and to establish old roots, while others seek to break all traditions and roots. Some attempt to reach God and escape being in the world, while others fall into despair. These are but different responses to the same basic feeling.

#173: The events to come will require a shift in reality of the Earth’s inhabitants. They must change or struggle against what they now experience. It is but this alone that they anticipate in their attempts to revive the old religions, systems and values, many of which have served a valuable purpose, yet in essence are long past. Are not the preparations of this century with its revivals, its new understandings, its outbreaks of conflict and its technological development but a preparation for what lies beyond in the new centuries to come? Has not all of this been building so rapidly towards a major turning point, as if racing to a finish that is in itself but a new beginning?

Walking The Path

#56: There is a great emphasis placed on those who respond to an inner calling. They have such importance. We gather around them. They hold the promise of renewal and rejuvenation for your world.

#100: Everyone wants to know the answer without making the journey. It is the journey that is the answer.

#158: Your heart will direct you. It is this we have spoken of before. Listen to your heart. It is not your emotions that we speak of, but your Knowledge.

#137: To be set on the path of good does not always look good. To learn of God does not always seem holy. To learn of Wisdom is certainly beyond human logic.

#12: When the mind is joined with Spirit, it is in its true role. It recognizes its function and is capable of fulfilling it perfectly.

#142: Many have attempted to reach God according to their own concepts and have become estranged from life as a result.

Divine Assistance

#241: Inner Guidance is simply the re-establishment of an established relationship. This is its true meaning. Though it seems remarkable to the one who receives it, it is simply a re-establishment of an old bond, as if an old friend has re-entered your life for a specific purpose.

#127: Contact with the Teachers is an exercise in remembering your true mind and your true relationships. The purpose inherent in this is to call you into service.

#128: You are guardians of a treasure unknowingly. Your treasure is your lineage, the accrued learning of all of your activities here and abroad.

#154: If you are to recall your lineage and with it the knowledge of your mission here, you must be able to expand beyond your human identity and affairs and yet bring all that you discover back to serve them.

Higher Purpose

#99: If you have purpose, you will teach it. If you do not have purpose, you must seek it.

#134: Your life has two possibilities. You will find your purpose and fulfill it, or you will not. It is only your success in this matter that you will reflect upon once you leave. For upon leaving the world, you will leave all the world’s preoccupations, leaving you with your one purpose, fulfilled or not.

#179: Inner Knowledge, true purpose, the presence of the Teachers—all sound an inner calling that must grow in strength and scope as it is attended to and utilized, recognized and applied. All that is in contradiction to this at some point will be recognized and relinquished as unwanted, as merely hindering that natural return of the heart.

#83: Knowledge brings responsibility, and purpose always has a calling. Indeed, the function of purpose is the response to a calling. You cannot understand your purpose without acting upon it. This action will call for perhaps a greater participation and understanding than you have ever known.

Learning Beyond The World

#65: Think not there will be an end to learning after you have left the world. This world is only a beginning.

#68: Being within a body in the world necessitates a certain level of ignorance. Accept this. Do not strive for total awareness, or you will neglect what can actually be done here.

#72: Your work now is within the world. You cannot leave here until your work is done. If you destroy your learning vehicle, you will simply have to wait and return again. Indeed, you will be anxious to return, for as you wait, you will recognize the opportunities that you missed. Recognizing your errors, you will be anxious to return.

#145: Your learning predicaments here are the same as they are everywhere. You must be sensible in this matter, for you see, your world will be visited in very visible ways by races in the Greater Community, and you will be all excited because you may think it is the arrival of enlightened ones who possess great technological advancements that will free your people. Do not be foolish.

Emerging into the Greater Community of Intelligent Life

#88: It is essential that the world undergo its transition into the Greater Community. It is the end of childhood, and with it many things will pass. Do not be concerned with complete destruction, for that is not the way of things. Be concerned instead with supporting the world through this state of transition.

#171: The values of this world will be so affected by your emergence into the Greater Community. There has never been an impact so great upon the consciousness of those who dwell here nor one of such grave consequences. Religion, art, philosophy, culture, the foundations of government, law and ethics—all will be greatly affected.

#126: Be prepared, then, for the visitation of those from the Greater Community. Yet you must be counseled. They are not all of good intention. A young adolescent entering the world of adults will discover the world through exposure. Many ideals and hopes perhaps will be lost encountering the real nature and state of those who are met. Thus it is with the emergence of this world into the Greater Community. Why is this relevant to you? It is relevant because it represents the time in history during which you have entered the world. It is your responsibility to serve this history, fulfilling your rightful place and thus completing your mission here.

True Service in the World

#39: The world will need you, and you must commit yourself to it. It is not a world of casual choices but a world of great demands, and the demands that it will make will show you your own greatness.

#260: You must successfully negotiate this world and use your physical abilities. You see, the Plan calls for the use of all your self-created abilities for a greater purpose. That is how everything is brought back into wholeness.

#291: Human beings are not sent here to achieve ultimate reality. That is not your purpose. Your purpose in being here is to complete being here.

#207: You are not needed where everything is wonderful. You are needed where everything is not wonderful. When this life is over, everything can be wonderful. You went to great pains to come into this world, to be where things are not wonderful. In this world, things are not wonderful. Do you understand? Do not lie about this, or you shall reach the epitome of ignorance. You know things are not wonderful.

Taking The Next Step In Life

#214: Do not attempt to reach the highest point, or you will miss the step that is in front of you, the step that has been awaiting you for so long.

#238: All this self-growth, what can it do for you? You either have Knowledge or you do not.

#95: You think your enlightenment occurs within you alone. All progress is the result of relationship. Your enlightenment is the recognition of complete relationship.

#165: We give personal relationships the greatest priority, for they have the greatest potential for strengthening or weakening those who participate.

#229: For some, the realization of Knowledge is devastating in that it discounts so many of their personal beliefs. Knowledge may not appear to be like God at all. It is sober. It is clear. It does not take positions. It directs actions on its own accord without any reference to outside influences.

#226: If you wish to experience the Teachers of God who surround you, call them Angels or whatever you wish, you must have a place within yourself that is open for this. Therefore, empty your mind of grand thoughts. Then you may enter the present, which is the beginning of the experience of Knowledge.

Mercury Retrograde In Sagittarius: Revising Our Perspectives

Published

on

Mercury began the latest edition of its retrograde process on November 16th/17th, which will last until December 6th/7th. In the weeks (and especially days) leading up to it we start to notice its influence as Mercury slows down and comes to a stop before moving the other way. This is known as the ‘pre-shadow’ period which began on October 29th.

If you have read my previous Mercury retrograde articles, the first two sections of this article are nearly the same and you can skip to the third section if you don’t want to re-read all the general themes associated with these periods. The other sections are more specific to this edition of it.

Mercury retrograde is known for the problematic effects it often has on communication technology, transactions, motor vehicles, anything with moving parts, and commuting in general. Some people even get headaches near the beginning of it. We could experience some challenges, misunderstandings, and errors around our communications, numbers/details, and commerce, as well as changes, cancellations, or delays in our schedules. We may also feel more challenged when we are doing excessive analytical work without using our internal guidance.

Although there is a higher probability of experiencing more of these problems during this time, they won’t necessarily apply to every situation. Some people may not notice these energies as much, depending on what types of things they are doing and how the astrology is playing out unique to the person’s astrological blueprint.

Mercury Retrograde can also be a good time to revisit or redo tasks, projects, ideas, or anything else that was initiated in the past. It can give us a different perspective or shift in thinking that can help us to approach these things in ways we wouldn’t have done so before. This may also be a period of reconnecting with old friends, family, sometimes lovers, or others you haven’t seen in a while.

The Deeper Purpose of Mercury Retrograde

Ultimately, Mercury Retrograde is a time for us to recalibrate and adjust specific areas of our lives as well as how we apply our minds towards these issues. It is a period in which we may receive important insights and see things in a new light. In most cases, it can be mildly transformational, but in some cases it can facilitate more major transformations depending on how it corresponds to your personal astrological chart.

advertisement - learn more

During and following the retrograde, certain areas of our lives can go through changes or shifts, or we can experience a reorientation of some sort which influences how we proceed over the coming months or in some cases, it can have a more long-term significance. In the 2 weeks afterwards, known as the ‘post-shadow’ period, we move forward with some sort of new awareness, adjustment, as well as new ideas and thoughts that have been seeded which will develop as time progresses.

The things that you have been doing or circumstances in the two to three weeks leading up to this period could determine how and where this energy plays out. It is also possible that there could have been changes put in place at that time which may go through a sorting out process. There could have been unknown variables, both positive and negative, that were either unseen or hadn’t been conceived yet, which may become apparent over the coming weeks.

The sign(s) and element(s) in which Mercury retrograde travels shows the energy we are re-orienting ourselves with. More importantly, if you are more familiar with your natal astrology chart, your house(s) or any planetary placements being affected will show more specifically what areas of life you will be experiencing its energy in. For the astrologically literate, it began at 13’30 degrees of Leo and will retrograde all the way to 27’17 degrees of the Scorpio, before turning forward again.

This One Is Occurring Mostly In Sagittarius, Part of A Series In Fire Signs

Mercury retrograde always happens in primarily one element for more than a year. It is currently occurring in the Fire element which is about passion, creativity, instinct, inspiration, assertiveness, courage, confidence, and spirit. It also ends in the Water sign of Scorpio leading to the transition into Water signs which kicks off more so at the next Mercury retrograde in Pisces.

This Fire period is about re-aligning ourselves with these themes and expressing them in new or revamped ways. This ‘Fire process’ began in the spring of 2017 as it was transitioning out of Earth signs, with the first Mercury Retrograde to be completely in Fire occurring last December.

This one is more specific to a reorientation around Sagittarius themes, which is about beliefs, opinions, perspectives, teaching, hope, optimism, exploration, travel, and higher education. It is visionary and ‘big picture’ oriented. Sagittarius is also associated with marketing, sales, publishing, and media. It is idealistic, philosophical, and expansive. Expressed negatively, Sagittarius energy can also be judgemental, excessive, blunt, egotistical, argumentative, preachy,  too scattered, and have a ‘know-it-all’ complex.

Mercury Retrograde Begins With a Square To Neptune

Mercury in Sagittarius begins its retrograde in a square with Neptune in Pisces which it will return to at the end of the post-shadow period. The combination can make it a little difficult to focus and deal with details and facts. However, it can stimulate abstract thought and help us to perceive things symbolically.

An evolutionary theme of this retrograde for many people could be about the reworking of how we apply Mercury and Neptune energies together. Mercury rules communication, the mind, commuting, communication technology, and how we process information. Neptune is associated with creativity, imagination, visual or musical arts, selflessness, oneness, compassion, idealism, dreams, spirituality, and mysticism.

Negative expressions of this energy that may come up that we need to work on could be connected to deception, addictions, escapism, illusions, flakiness, delusion, confusion, and lack of boundaries. Then you can also factor in the Sagittarian themes mentioned above.

Jupiter Recently Entered Sagittarius, Venus Finished Retrograde

The ruler of Sagittarius, Jupiter, has returned to its own sign on November 8th where it will stay until December 2019. Jupiter, the planet of expansion, rules the same things associated with Sagittarius and therefore this combined with the current Mercury retrograde really amplifies the Sagittarian themes mentioned earlier in the article.

Mercury will be aligned with Jupiter on its retrograde path which indicates that certain things that play out over the next month will help to set the stage for what Jupiter will bring into our lives over the next year. This month can be a period of tremendous learning, and perhaps even revamping certain perspectives, and how to incorporate the ‘big picture’ in how we proceed following the retrograde.

Venus ended its retrograde less than half a day prior to Mercury going retrograde. For many people, the Venus related developments, issues, or reorientations that have come up in recent weeks might be connected to any adjustments Mercury will be facilitating.

Venus will be in its post-retrograde shadow period until mid-December which will be 11 days after Mercury ends its retrograde. As time progresses over the next month, there will be more forward momentum around Venus-ruled areas of relationships (romantically and socially), values, money, pleasures, or perhaps something to do with aesthetics.

Mercury Retrograde Timeline

*Below, are some of the dates and information for some of the major astrological configurations during this retrograde. However, I also regularly post about other astro energies happening on my social media via Instagram and Facebook, you can follow on those platforms for more forecast content.

Earlier dates are for those in the Western part of the world and later dates for those in the East.

Nov 16th/17thMercury begins its retrograde at 1:33 am Universal Time. The days surrounding this period are a time in which complications may be amplified, but you may also start to get a better sense of what these retrograde themes mean for you.

Nov 22nd/23rdFull Moon In Gemini. We may feel that we are being pulled in many directions and can get easily scattered and restless. There is a possibility of a clash, conflict, or competitiveness around of ideas and viewpoints. I will be doing a separate article on this Full Moon, join my mailing list here to be notified when it gets released.

Nov 25th-28th Mercury’s Inferior Conjunction, Mercury square Mars, Mercury/Sun Conjunct Jupiter, and Mars Sextile Saturn. This is that halfway point of Mercury retrograde and can be a period of increased insights yet complications can also be stronger at this time depending on how you are applying yourself. Ideas and thoughts that are seeded now may develop over the coming months. This can also be a period where we are more irritable, impulsive, and perhaps have some conflict in some cases. However this can also be a highly productive period if Mercury retrograde complications do not get in the way. This can be a very mind opening period, perhaps lucky and expansive. Considering the ‘big picture’ is a strong theme now.

Nov 30th – Dec 2nd Venus opposite Uranus, Mercury enters Scorpio while semi-sextile Venus, Mercury quincunx Uranus. Changes, disruptions, or surprises may come up at this time which may require some adjustments. This may affect relationships or financial matters, however, there is also a possibility of some exciting energy as well. Mercury shifting into Scorpio can help us think deeper or in an investigative way. Hidden matters connected to the past may come up.

Dec 3rd/4th – Mercury Trine Chiron and Lunar Nodes. There is a possibility for growth and healing at this time. There can be communications, connections or developments made which can benefit our future. Greater awareness of strengths and weaknesses can be beneficial for where we are headed.

Dec 6th/7th – Mercury Goes Direct in Late Scorpio with New Moon 10 hours later, Mars Conjunct Neptune. Mercury ends its retrograde and will slowly begin to move forward over the coming days. The areas of our lives that have been affected by this retrograde will start to become more clear and things will fall into place more easily. There will be a New Moon shortly afterwards which will help to kickstart new developments due to what has transpired.

Can Sacred Geometry Help Evolve Your Consciousness?

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

Sacred Geometry patterns are found etched into many aspects of life, nature and the universe. It is an incredibly fascinating study that reveals the immense beauty and patterns that exist within the perfection of our world.

  • Reflect On:

Have you explored the nature of sacred geometry? Can understanding it more deeply shift your perspective of our world and life?

What patterns do you see in your own life, or in the world that have symmetry and balance? Which ones are asymmetrical and out of balance? Noticing patterns helps us build on them if they are healthy, or break them if they are not healthy. The flux between asymmetry and symmetry is the process of growth and evolution. Sacred geometry gives us a beautiful reflection to contemplate as we navigate life’s challenges seeking balance and harmony.

Mathematics is the alphabet with which God has written the universe.
– Galileo

What is Sacred Geometry?

Sacred geometry involves sacred universal patterns used in the design of everything in our reality, most often seen in architecture, art, and nature. The basic belief is that geometry and mathematical ratios, harmonics and proportion are also found in music, light, cosmology. It is the invisible patterns that animate our physical world much as spiritual traditions believe that the soul animates the body.

Shapes, patterns, and visual compositions have the capacity to seduce our eyes while captivating our imagination. Whether from masterful works of art or in nature, this entrancement can be so emotionally moving and awe-inspiring that people naturally associate it with transcendence, the super-natural, or spiritual. Beneath these patterns are relationships that can be measured, numbered, replicated, and defined. This mathematical yet esoteric realm of inquiry and observation known as sacred geometry will enlighten and mystify you while inviting you to change the way you look at the world.

Spiral geometry in nature.

History of Sacred Geometry

The earliest cultures including Christians, Hindus, Greeks and Egyptians recognised the existence of different patterns or geometric shapes that repeated throughout nature. They also worked out that there was a correlation or connection between the various elements found in the earth and the heavens. These sacred geometric patterns were mirrored by earth and sky and ancient cultures believed these patterns existed in all parts of the universe. Modern science has proven these sacred geometric patterns are the very molecular shapes that form the basis of all life in this universe.

Is it Really Sacred?

The subject is vast and though it is spiritually inspiring for many, there are plenty of mathematicians who disdain the notion of correlating geometric formulas to mysticism. For this reason I will not attempt to ascribe meaning to these patterns, or connect them with specific spiritual traditions in this short, introductory blog. The mere observation and recognition of these visual relationships in nature, along with their powerful influence on art, architecture, and music are more than enough to leave you filled with wonder!

The influence of sacred geometry can be observed in the architecture of this mosque.

I was never good at math as a student though geometry was fun because it involved drawing shapes using graph paper, protractor, and compass. This idea of numbers being represented in visual form, or through music is a very special example of how abstractions (numbers, formulas) can be mirrored in the physical world. In this way, math is an interesting science that flirts in the space between physical and non-physical.

The space between physical and non-physical is usually reserved for art or spirituality. This is why it is interesting to find math formulas spanning the divide. It is also one of the reasons why this geometry is considered “sacred”. If you are interested in getting specific about the numbers and formulas, there is a great website called Math is Fun. Understanding more about the different shapes of Sacred Geometry and how they were used in ancient cultures can teach you how to harness their power.

The Golden Ratio.

The Golden Ratio

Also known as Phi, the Golden Mean, or the Golden Section, the Golden Ratio was revered as the mathematical law or representation of beauty by the Greeks. It is the numerical representation of infinity and an unreachable approximation. This begs one to contemplate the possibility of a transcendent number. From the Golden Rectangle comes the Fibonacci Spiral which is seen in flowers, snail shells, pinecones, and other parts of nature. The Golden Rectangle and Fibonacci Spiral are used in the crafting of musical instruments like cellos, violins, and the tones of musical scales are created using these same mathematical formulas. These formulas have been used in design and architecture going back at least 4,000 years and are seen in historic buildings like the Greek Parthenon.

The Flower of Life.

The Flower of Life

Another very powerful symbol that is found all over the world dating back over 6,000 years and up to 10,000 years is the Flower of Life. This symbol is made of evenly-spaced, overlapping circles with six fold symmetry like a hexagon and looks like a flower, hence the name. It can be found in Egypt at the Temple of Osiris; the Forbidden City of China, synagogues in Galilee, Israel; in temples across India; in la Mezquita, Spain; Turkey, Japan and elsewhere. Leonardo da Vinci spent much time playing with and contemplating the Flower of Life’s form and used its mathematical properties in his art. Just by gazing at the symbol, or trying to count the circles will play tricks on your mind, and there is no wonder that people from ancient times to now are enamored with the Flower of Life.

The Seed of Life.

Within the Flower is the Seed

The Seed of Life is a symbol found within the Flower of Life, as well as many other symbols of great significance including Metatrons Cube. These shapes called polygons are defined by having sides of equal length. This includes the cube, tetrahedron, dodecahedron, icosahedron, octahedron and they represent what Plato called the 5 platonic solids. These are visible within the flower of life when straight lines are drawn to connect the center of various circles within it. It is amazing to see all of this symmetry unfold in one succinct pattern which is created by math. Since many traditions believe that circles and curves represent the feminine, while corners and straight lines represent the masculine, this symbol also shows a divine balance of both.

Spirituality and Sacred Geometry

Higher frequencies of energy and awareness are transmitted through sacred geometry. Sacred geometry reveals that there are mathematical, or abstract patterns beneath everything that we see in the physical world. How might this relate to our own personal journey of integrating science and spirituality? Our internal beliefs create patterns that slowly ripple outward from us and manifest into real world experiences. The invisible informs the visible. Sacred geometry is a visualization and metaphor of the connectedness of all life, the interface between abstraction and physical reality. When we change the mathematical formulas, the relationships, we also change physical form. This is the teaching of many mystics.

The flux between asymmetry and symmetry is the process of growth and evolution. Just like a symphony or a film that uses tension to build for a great climax and resolve, we humans are always moving through this constant state of flux. Spend some time looking at these symmetrical patterns, as a means to strengthen your resonance with symmetry and balance. Maybe even attempt to plot-out and draw some of these patterns in your spare time, or color them in with markers… There is a reason that spiritual traditions have used these mathematical patterns for centuries, and by bringing them into your life you will be well on your way to a more balanced and happy life!

Life Lessons For A Modern Peaceful Warrior

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

The parable told in the Bhagavad Gita remind us of the eternal challenges that humans face and how to conquer our demons even if we'd rather do nothing.

  • Reflect On:

How do you approach tackling the challenges life brings you? Do you find yourself being hard on yourself? Forgetting to be compassionate towards yourself?

The strength to face the challenges in our life always rewards us with a refinement and evolution of our soul regardless if we win or lose the battle.

We all strive to live our soul’s purpose, but sometimes our mind conflicts with our feelings and causes confusion. The Bhagavad Gita is an ancient Hindu text that has an important teaching for those of us who experience this internal struggle. In this story, Arjuna the peaceful warrior is faced with a choice to act or not act in what he feels is a no-win situation for himself. If you have ever felt confusion or inner conflict holding you back, then the timeless wisdom in this story can bring clarity and relief.

Ahimsa is the principle of non-violence, which is a fundamental tenet of Hinduism. It is rooted in the belief that all lives, both human and non-human, are sacred. This is why on the eve of a great war, the choice between duty and non-violence leaves Arjuna in a state of inner conflict in this story. Being a peaceful warrior requires you to stand firmly in your spiritual path, dharma, but sometimes we don’t have the clarity to know what the best choice is. This requires an active fearlessness and non-attachment, which is embodied in the famous parable of Arjuna and Krishna’s discussion on the battlefield.

The story begins with a young prince, Arjuna, who realizes that the enemies he’ll be fighting in an upcoming battle are his own relatives, beloved friends, and revered teachers. He turns to his charioteer confessing his conflicting emotions and his fears. His charioteer is actually the eternally wise Krishna. Here Arjuna talks to Krishna about his confusion:

…it is not proper for us to kill our own kinsmen, the sons of Dhritarashtra. For how, Krishna, shall we be happy after killing our own relatives? If the sons of Dhritarashtra, weapon in hand, should kill me in battle, me weaponless and not defending myself, that would be better for me. – Bhagavad Gita

As he contemplates no action at all and allowing his enemies to kill him, he hopes to stay true to his dedication to non-violence (ahimsa), but Krishna recognizes this as a cop-out. Compassion is said to come in the form of a lamb and a lion. We must accept that we are not perfect. This humility allows each of us to evolve forward from the place that we stand, rather than jump to absolute ideals.

Though Arjuna has mentally justified that he is being fearless and selfless to let his enemies kill him unarmed, he is actually avoiding his own dharma and here Krishna reminds him of this:

One’s own duty, though defective, is better than another’s duty well performed. – Bhagavad Gita

This is a call to hone one’s own inner voice and stay true to it; trusting that there are no wrong choices, only lessons to be learned. Duty is usually associated with something we don’t want to do, but it can feel quite empowering once we accept our role in a situation. When I was in my 20s, I was passionate about the environment and saving the world, but I was broke. I had gone past being able to be picky about a job that would help me pay the bills or feed myself, so I begrudgingly took a job as a landscaper.

Swinging a pick-axe in the hot sun, I was given the task of putting irrigation lines in to grow plants and grass that should not have been planted in the arid climate of Arizona. Non-native, drought-tolerant plants waste precious water in the desert landscape. I was miserable while I worked and felt a bit self-righteous about my sustainability ideals. Angry at the universe that I should have to do such a lowly chore, I put my nose to the grindstone and woke up early every day to make ends meet.

If you have ever felt conflicted about your life path then you will understand this feeling. In acceptance of the task at hand comes a certain humility, self-compassion, a sense of service, mental liberation, and even empowerment. This is central to karma yoga, which teaches us not to be attached to the outcome of our work, but to do it as a form of devotion to our own inner evolution.

Your business is with action alone; not by any means with the fruit of action. Let not the fruit of action be your motive to action. Let not your attachment be fixed on inaction. Therefore, always perform action, which must be performed, without attachment. For a man, performing action without attachment attains the Supreme. – Krishna to Arjuna

Even the most mundane actions in our day-to-day life are the result of choices we have made. The parable of Arjuna’s indecision on the battlefield is an extreme expression of this common circumstance and that is why it holds such value for us today. With clarity of mind, or mindfulness, along with personal accountability and non-attachment to outcome, we can have the courage to face any battle. A situation can be terrifying and feel like life or death even if it is not. The strength to face the challenges in our life always rewards us with a refinement and evolution of our soul, regardless if we win or lose the battle.

To one that is born, death is certain; and to one that dies, birth is certain. Therefore, you should not grieve about things that are unavoidable. – Krishna to Arjuna

Sometimes it is the fear itself that dies (or an ego death) on this journey. Each one of us is here at this time for something greater than we can know or understand. The world is filled with terrifying possibilities, and mistakes are easy to come by. Sometimes the fear of making the wrong choice is scarier than the choices themselves, yet we are all here to fail as much as we are here to succeed.

Anyone with great success can also boast many failures. In this process, we learn to be more compassionate to ourselves and to those who have wronged us with their own poor behavior. The journey of soul evolution continues regardless. We must always put one foot in front of the other, and the path will appear with each step.

In this path to final emancipation, nothing that is commenced becomes wasted effort; no obstacles exist; and even a little of this form of sacred duty protects one from great danger. – Krishna to Arjuna

Knowing that we are in line with our dharma, and on the path (not the right path or the wrong path, just on the path), we begin to liberate and empower ourselves. These ancient parables, like the one told in the Bhagavad Gita, are meant to remind us of the eternal challenges that humans face and how to conquer our demons, even if we’d rather do nothing. Arjuna contemplates not taking up arms in battle, but after speaking with Krishna he follows his dharma and fights.

Being a peaceful warrior does not mean that you should be without your sword, as you never know when you might be called to unsheathe it. You can stand fearlessly in whatever circumstance you may face, knowing that you are not alone on the journey to personal evolution.
