10 Problems Genetically Modified Foods Are Already Causing

Published

on

Genetically modified foods (GMOs) have been getting a bad rep for years now as studies continue to come out revealing the dangerous nature of GMOs. Whether it be the harm they cause to people eating them, or the environment, many believe GMOs have no place in our world. On the flip side, many state there are no real concerns we have to worry about yet when it comes to human consumption, and in many ways GMOs help to feed the world. The ‘feed the world’ claim has always been refuted by pointing to the amount of food waste that exists as well as the current farming methods available that could feed the world without GMOs.

Nonetheless, people are not sold on GMOs and they have good reason. Here are 10 problems genetically modified foods are already causing in our world. No need to keep waiting for the science, it’s already in.

They Kill Bees & Butterflies

bees-728x400

It was a debate before but that debate is now over as a Harvard study confirmed that what is killing the bees in such large numbers is pesticides. Now one could argue that GM crops aren’t the cause of all the deaths as there are other pesticides being sprayed, but Monsanto’s Roundup has been linked to killing off the Monarch Butterflies. In the end, this is just adding to the insane amounts of pesticides that will increase greatly every year as a result of how these crops are being engineered. It’s a problem that will be huge even just a few years down the road.

Although some have been suggesting that more food for the world is better than a few bugs dying, the reality is that the bees are a huge part of pollinating our food plants in order for us to even be able to enjoy their fruits.

Cross-Pollination Contaminates Regular Crops

farms

This could prove to be one of the biggest issues once the rest of North America realizes GMOs shouldn’t be grown any longer and we finally stop producing them. GMO seeds are very tough to contain.

Unfortunately they are finding that seeds can travel much farther than initially anticipated (up to several kilometers) and are creating cross-pollination on farms that are not and do not wish to be GMO. Farms that have accidental cross-pollination and are organic could lose their organic status as a result of this.

They Create Superbugs & Superweeds

New-Superweeds

It appears great. You design a plant that is already resistant to pests and therefore you can grow food without the bugs tearing away at it. The problem is, in the process you create superweeds and superbugs as well as less nutritious food.

What most people don’t realize about GM crop farming is that while farmers may experience a lower need for chemicals in the first few years of growing, it increases greatly as the crops, weeds and pests develop an immunity to the chemicals. Operating costs, pollution levels and herbicides/pesticides on your food increases as well.

In 2011, scientists studied 13 major pests and found that five were immune to the poisons genetically bred into GM plants like Bt corn and Bt cotton. On top of that, farmers found that they were regularly battling with superweeds as a result of glyphosate found in RoundUp. According to the peer-reviewed journal Environmental Sciences Europe, GM crops cause herbicide use to increase 25 percent per year.

It’s Illegal To Accidentally Grow A GM Plant

Plants-Grow-Up

This is very much coupled with the problem above. When seeds can fly everywhere, there can be a lot of accidental growing – which is still illegal. In a number of cases, seeds found on farmers who were not growing GM crops caused huge court cases in which Monsanto sued these farmers for illegally growing large amounts of seeds they did not buy. Meanwhile the seeds may have blown onto their land, could have come in second generation seed sales without farmers noticing, or could have come from farmers buying cost-effective bags of seeds where sources are unknown.

The bottom line is these seeds are hard to track and with something as simple as a seed being illegal to plant, it’s bound to create issues.

Farmers Are Not Able To Harvest Seeds

seeds

Many may not realize but, Monsanto does not allow farmers to use second generation seeds. They must buy new seeds every year which increases the cost for farmers as Monsanto’s “premium seeds” don’t come cheap. This takes many of the fundamentals away from farming. Instead of the typical plant seeds, grow crops, harvest them and harvest the seeds for next year, Monsanto’s you must buy again next year.

In the Supreme court case between Bowman v. Monsanto, the 70-year-old farmer was unanimously found guilty of patent infringement for buying second generation Monsanto seeds. It’s another move by Monsanto that illustrates their lack of care for food and people and their clear-cut obsession with control and profit.

Little Government Oversight

US-Government-Shutdown

Remember the superbugs and superweeds? The reality is it’s possible this could have all been avoided if farmers were required to go through training for safe GM farming practices. For example, farmers who follow GM guidelines and plant “refuges,” which are not Bt-crops, adjacent to their GM fields, have much lower rates of pest resistance. Many farmers did not follow these strict guidelines which could be contributing to the problems.

If the government put in regulations to make sure large farms were planted correctly, this could have been avoided. Maybe the Bollworm problem in India could have been avoided as well considering many believe it has been the cause of the sudden increase.

Labeling has been another big argument. 64 countries–including China and the European Union–require labeling of genetically engineered foods. But, the US, the largest producer of GM foods does not have any labeling laws. Considering much of the informed public is steering well clear of consuming GMOs, it appears the US is afraid that if labelling was required, many wouldn’t bother to buy products that were GM and thus it would kill their business. This also illustrates the fact that the public does not want GMOs around and yet the government spends money and makes decisions to produce them without public support.

Increased Suicide Rates

bundle of dollars in the hands of

This is one that we may not be aware of but is actually quite a staggering fact. Many know that farming can be risky, especially in places like India. Farming in India requires a good monsoon season in order to have enough water to keep crops growing well. Since farms hope to keep up with production and are open to trying anything, they have opted to try out Monsanto’s GM seeds. The issue is that they require double the amount of water and there pest-free claims are not always the case. As Bollworms continue to eat their crops and monsoon seasons are weak, farmers struggle to make money and their debt takes over. This is leading them to commit suicide in large numbers. About 1000 per month or so are taking their lives.

A New York Times article concluded that the extremely high prices of GM seeds and pesticides are causing farmers to make less money than ever.

India’s Agricultural Ministry believes that Monsanto is partly to blame for the increased suicide rates (125,000 since GM inception.) In 2012, a panel of scientists commissioned by India’s Supreme Court recommended a 10-year moratorium on field trials for all GM crops until further testing was done and stricter regulations created.

GMOs Harm Biodiversity

biodiversity

Biological diversity, or biodiversity, is all about having a variety of lifeforms in various regions on earth. It is part of a delicate balance nature maintains and each aspect of biodiversity plays a key role in the circle of life. Unfortunately, agribusiness is putting a huge damper on biodiversity due to its obsession with monoculture farming.

Monoculture farming is when land is cleared of all of its native plants and instead a single crop is grown. This is especially bad with GM foods because not only are farmers only growing one crop, but the plants themselves are all genetically the same and from the same source. No diversity whatsoever. This makes our food all very susceptible to changes in climate, pests and disease. Not only are we eating GM foods that are harming health and plant species, but we are also cutting out insects like bees and butterflies which will have an impact on not only other plants but other areas of the food chain. To continue down the wildlife path, herbicides are known to cause birth defects and population declines in amphibians, birds, soil organisms and marine ecosystems.

Monsanto is a business and they do not seem to be putting the earth, people and biodiversity ahead of their own profits. By buying up seed farms everywhere, removing tried and tested seeds and replacing them with higher-priced GM seeds, they are killing biodiversity and gaining ownership over nature. Some argue that Monsanto is helping to fix the world’s food supply, but there is nothing to back that up at this point. Instead, it appears as though they are putting food at risk.

Corruptions & The Revolving Door Between Government & Biotech Workers

xhas-00033

The fact is, there has been a large amount of ridicule pushed towards GMOs touting their lack of safety. But these companies respond time and time again that they are perfectly safe and seem to have studies in hand to prove it. But on the other side of the coin there are a plethora of studies to prove their lack of safety as well.  Regardless of all the contradictory information out there, it would be fair for anyone on an unbiased playing field to feel suspicious over the fact that the former vice president of Monsanto, Michael Taylor, is now the Deputy Commissioner at the United States Food and Drug Administration. This also isn’t the first time Taylor has held positions at the USDA. He has been criticized a great deal for being in the “revolving door” of the public and private sector.

Conspiracy or not, is it not odd that he took the position? Was he doing so for his love and passion for food and safety? Or was he placed there to help protect his agribusiness friends? This wouldn’t be the first time the FDA has been caught performing corrupt actions. Things get even more sticky when you consider that, back in the ’90s, FDA scientists warned that gene-sliced foods were significantly different and could lead to “different risks” as compared to conventional foods. Interestingly these findings were never added to official policy released.

Distract from Healthy, Environmentally Friendly Technologies

stream

Monsanto is trying to convince the world that the future of food is lab designed versus the proven methods of natural growing. When you take into account aquaculture food production where food grows in the plenty and is supported by other aspects of nature, we can quickly see that we can grow enough food for the world. Although Monsanto is trying to make a case for GM foods being the answer to world hunger, most places that would need it don’t even want to eat GM foods. This pretty much says it all:  24 delegates from 18 African countries told the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization, “We strongly object that the image of the poor and hungry from our countries is being used by giant multinational corporations to push a technology that is neither safe, environmentally friendly nor economically beneficial to us. We do not believe that such companies or gene technologies will help our farmers to produce the food that is needed in the 21st century. On the contrary, we think it will destroy the diversity, the local knowledge and the sustainable agricultural systems that our farmers have developed for millennia, and that it will thus undermine our capacity to feed ourselves.”

What are the answers for alleviating world hunger? To begin with, government subsidies used to grow GM crops could be used to grow good organic foods in Eco-friendly ways. These foods could be supplied to the local public or if need be shipped to countries at lower costs (due to subsidies) in order for them to have food. This model would encourage countries to help each other out as opposed to simply competing with one another. There are also a number of crops that currently grow well in harsh areas such as pearl millet, fonio and African rice.

We could also use creative tactics like grocery store rooftop gardens so produce can be grown local. Encourage greenhouses so foods that cannot grow year round can be grown and sold locally. Urban farming can take off and people would grow food in their own backyards. There are a number of ways we can bring real, local food back to our tables and to the tables of those who are in need.

What You Can Do

Plain a simple, vote with your dollar. When you spend money on GM foods or foods that contain GMOs you are sending the message that you support it. Instead buy organic foods or support local organic farmers. You can also begin growing your own food.

This information can also be spread to people so they become aware of the issues. The more we know, the more we can take action to make things change.

Ex USAF Colonel & Boeing Engineer Explains What Really Happened During Apollo 13

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

Colonel Ross Dedrickson, a high ranking military man who spent a long service with the Energy Commission between 1950-1958, claims that the problems with Apollo 13 were handled with care by extraterrestrials.

  • Reflect On:

UFOs are no longer taboo and their existence has been verified via documents, photographs and videos released by dozens of governments. To complement this, we have witness testimony. The common theme is that many crafts are extraterrestrial.

Now that mainstream UFO disclosure has taken place and more information continues to be brought to light, more and more people are opening up to the idea that some of these UFOs, which are tracked on radar, photographed and videotaped, are extraterrestrial in origin.

This belief comes as a result from multiple factors, one being credible witness testimony by hundreds of military personnel from all ranks for decades, as well as other researchers, academics, ex-intelligence agency personnel, astronauts, etc. These testimonies compliment the hard evidence that’s already been collected. The ‘UFO problem’ has been subject to the questions of who, what, why, where and when, the only problem is those questions have been asked and answered by those who work within black budget special access programs, programs that are so sensitive that they’re exempt from standard reporting requirements from Congress, as described in this document.

For the latest updates in mainstream UFO, you can refer to this article which discusses materials that have been collected from these objects, among other things, and for the latest updates regarding mainstream UFO disclosure.

So, have we been lied to for decades? Former NASA Astronaut and Princeton physics professor, Dr. Brian O’Leary (who was recruited by Carl Sagan to teach at Cornell University) have accused Sagan on being involved with covering up this information. He even accused Sagan of fudging evidence regarding the ‘Face on Mars.’ You can see what he said, and read more about that in-depth here.

The very first director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Roscoe H. Hillenkoetter, told the world that there has been an official campaign of ridicule and secrecy to cover up for the fact that UFOs are real, and that some of them are indeed extraterrestrial. He did so to the New York Times in 1960.

With the recent admittance of the existence of UFO’s by multiple countries, lead by the To The Stars Academy in the United States, another factor having some believe they are extraterrestrial, including Louis Elizondo, who used to be a director of one of the UFO study programs within the Pentagon, is the fact that the objects are observed performing maneuvers that defy our laws of physics and aerodynamics.

So far, apart from that statement given on CNN, he has emphasized how their group is purposely steering away from the extraterrestrial question for now and simply focusing on the objects because there are a lot of feelings that come up when discussing this topic.

I will tell you unequivocally that, through the observation, scientific methodologies that were applied to look at this… That these aircraft are displaying characteristics that are not currently within the US inventory nor in any foreign inventory… My personal belief is that there is very compelling evidence that we may not be alone, whatever that means.

Unfortunately, there always seems to be a “threat” narrative from the mainstream…

The secrecy on this subject, as you can imagine, runs very deep. Everything is compartmentalized, and everybody who has experienced or been a part of these programs is aware of that.

Sure, we are seeing mainstream disclosure, but this topic leaves no aspect of humanity untouched. If there is a secret space program, if governments have catalogued multiple species of beings, if there is new technology and new propulsion systems that “utilize the wheel work of nature,” then how does one expect those who control the secrecy around this subject to simply disclose it? We should have had mass transparency from the very beginning, but this world of secrecy has developed so much that it’s nearly impossible to get the entire truth out about multiple things within this subject. Technology, extraterrestrial intelligence, and all of the questions you can think of have been the subject of inquiry for years, and we’ve been left completely in the dark.

Disclosure will lead to corporate collapses, like the oil industry. It would lead to lawsuits from various private military contractors, the list is huge and the implications of the disclosure are just the same.

The largest benefit could most possibly be the impact on human consciousness and our awareness of metaphysical realms, non-material science would no doubt get a big boost.

Whether this was done to protect corporate/government interests or simply because it was ‘too big’ for the human mind to comprehend and accept is up in the air, but it seems to be a good mix of both.

Apollo 13

When it comes to astronauts, it’s amusing how a select few receive media attention, and it’s usually the ones that attempt to debunk the ufo/extraterrestrial phenomena. On the other hand, we have a plethora of astronauts, perhaps even more than 50 percent of them in the United States, who have told the world that they know for a fact that UFOs are real, and that some of them are piloted by beings from somewhere else in the universe. Why is it that these astronauts don’t receive much attention, why are their words not taken as credible, and why are astronauts who debunk these claims instantaneously believed? Definitely strange to say the least.

The video below, however, is not from an astronaut, but a testimony from Colonel Ross Dedrickson. His testimony, as well as obituary states:

He was assigned to the US Atomic Energy Commission. A long service with the Energy Commission between 1950-1958 included, contract administration duties at Nevada test sites, Pacific Nuclear Test Area west of Hawaii, nuclear weapon manufacturing and quality assurance in Albuquerque, and inspection of nuclear and non-nuclear facilities throughout the country. He served with the 5th Air Force in Japan and later as a ranking Colonel, Officer in Charge of the Pacific Unified Command (TM)s alternate “command and control center” in Hawaii. In 1962, he was transferred and served as Deputy for Material for the 832 Air Division at Canon Air Force Base, Clovis, New Mexico. He retired from the USAF in 1964.

Did we go to the Moon? We’ve written a number of articles explaining why we feel that yes, we did, but the official story we’re told about the Moon doesn’t really add up. Sources for these claims come from within the industry, as well, from military personnel to former NASA employees, intelligence officers etc. Colonel Dedrickson is a great example.

Made popular by Hollywood, Apollo 13 became known as the journey to the Moon that experienced technical difficulties, making it difficult and near impossible for the craft to return home. According to Dedrickson:

A spacecraft went to the rescue of Apollo 13, and they accompanied Apollo 13 on their voyage around the Moon back to Earth. And on two occasions they thought they might have to transfer the crew to their spacecraft, but they saw them safely back to Earth.

He gives a lot more information in the interview below, so take from it what you will. I published an article prior to this one about his statements claiming extraterrestrials would not allow the detonation of nuclear weapons on the Moon for our own scientific measurements, those comments are also from this interview.

The Takeaway

The takeaway message is that we are not alone and that this topic is moving outside of the debatable realm every single year. The implications of ET disclosure are huge, it really changes everything and brings up a lot of questions. Our civilization should be working in complete transparency, secrecy is only for those with selfish interests to protect. But the world is a mess, and this is and may have to be a process over many years. The methaphysical and spiritual imlications, among others like technological, are what awaits us if we can make the correct changes within, and become a more peaceful people.

The US Military Is Now Recruiting Soldiers Who Were Born After 9/11

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

The US Military is now able to enlist soldiers who were not alive when 9/11 happened, but it only seems to be exacerbating the problems the military is having in attracting recruits, despite having increased incentives and lowering standards.

  • Reflect On:

Is it possible that our awakening to the truth about war and the military is the main reason that recruitment is becoming so difficult for the US military?

Indeed, that title is worth repeating. The US military is now recruiting soldiers who were born after 9/11. And among other things, they are being recruited to fight in the ongoing war in Afghanistan, the first of several wars that the US government used 9/11 to justify. Still going on after almost 18 years? I guess the US government, or should I say the Deep State behind the US government, hasn’t completed their ‘business’ there. That now-famous line in the Neo-Conservative handbook ‘The Project For A New American Century’ is perhaps worth bringing back here. In speaking about a ‘transformation’ in the Middle East that needs to take place in order for the US to maintain and even enhance their supremacy in the region, the manifesto notes that,

“Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event–like a new Pearl Harbor.”–The Project For A New American Century

Of course creating a new Pearl Harbor was one of the major intentions of 9/11–not only to foment public opinion in favor of going to war against the bad guys in the Middle East (except Saudi Arabia, of course, the only Middle Eastern nation actually tied to 9/11), but also to build enthusiasm for more army recruits to sign up and die overseas for the global elite, err, I mean, their ‘country.’

And were they successful with this ploy? I guess it depends on who you talk to, and what would be meant by ‘successful’. The wars launched on behalf of 9/11 were resisted from the get-go by people who were already awake to what was going on underneath the cover of geopolitical rhetoric. And many more awakened when the inconsistencies in the 9/11 story and false premises like ‘weapons of mass destruction’ became part of global discourse and the subject of many documentaries.

But maybe the global elite still consider it a success. After all, they were able to kill a lot of people and make a lot of money, while gaining more of a military presence in the region from which to better bully countries. But have they now backed themselves into a corner, relying on a narrative that is no longer sustainable?

Recruitment Issues

Certainly, 18 years later, this same war in Afghanistan is not inspiring the same recruitment fervor, as this Buzzfeed article notes:

advertisement - learn more

As the war in Afghanistan enters its 18th year and the US Army falls thousands short of its recruiting goals, the Pentagon is recognizing it has to do something different to recruit an age group that does not remember 9/11 and for whom the “war on terror” has been background noise their entire lives. This includes rethinking some of its traditional military PR, which has unintentionally turned the corner from inspiring to morbid by highlighting that some of the young people enlisting today are taking over the same tasks in the very same places their parents fought almost a generation ago.

This must be disconcerting for second-generation recruits: while they are being told that their efforts to fight overseas will ‘make a difference,’ they have first-hand knowledge that in addition to all the death, dismemberment and PTSD they must have heard about, and in some cases directly witnessed, that the time their elders have spent in Afghanistan over the past 18 years has not made the situation any better. It has not improved the United States, the country that was invaded, or global security in general.

So that being the case, it might surprise you to know that, according to statistical research done for the year 2015, recruits who already had a relative in the military represented a full 83% of all recruits in that calendar year.

The Rise Of The Warrior Caste?

The army reasons that there is a rise in the ‘warrior caste,’ which comprises the groups of American families that have the ethic and patriotism to ‘bear the burden of a nation at war.’ But is this an accurate assessment? Does this notion not stem from a foregone belief that most Americans still endorse the wars that have been fought and continue to be fought since 9/11, but they are simply leaving it to other citizens to go through the rigors of ‘fighting the good fight’?

In many cases I actually believe that the propensity of family members continuing to join the army stems not from a generational patriotism as such, but from the greater difficulty they may have in shifting their perception about the true underlying motivations behind military aggression.  They would need to acknowledge the fact that not only they but their respected older family members have all been duped by a false narrative. I assume many must continue to cling to the threadbare notion that the military is going around the world invading countries to bring freedom, foster true democracy and make the world safer for American citizens–unless of course they were only in this killing game for the money.

And speaking of money, the military actually has been increasing its offer of financial compensation in order to reach its quotas, as well as lowering its standards for a new recruit’s history of mental illness, according to this USA Today article:

People with a history of “self-mutilation,” bipolar disorder, depression and drug and alcohol abuse can now seek waivers to join the Army under an unannounced policy enacted in August, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY.

‘Nuff said.

The Trust Gap

Would it be a surprise to the top brass in the military that recruitment is down simply because most people no longer trust the military or the U.S. government? Or that fewer people are willing to go overseas and kill people for no apparent reason?

People are waking up, getting smarter, despite Deep State efforts to keep people dumbed-down. There is a trust gap between citizens and the military, and it’s getting wider by the day. What would help recruitment, Military PR department? The truth. Yes, we can handle the truth. If people had real reasons to believe that they were actually fighting for individual rights and freedoms, and a better life for their children, the recruitment lineup might be a little longer. If they believed that the military was really about the defense of traditional American values, then a career in the military might make more sense to them.

But any argument about truly using the military for defensive purposes would naturally imply that there is not such a need for America to have military presence around the globe. Then the notion popularized by Ron Paul and others that we should close our bases in other countries and bring all our troops home to focus on defending our borders would become the rule of the day. And then the tremendous amount of money spent on the military, if not being outright reduced and diverted to matters of domestic importance, could be used to support great projects at home designed to improve the lives of American citizens.

Of course, none of this can happen, until the military is wrested away from the Deep State and put into the hands of ‘We the People’, to serve OUR best interests, as the Constitution meant it to be. In the meantime, let’s just enjoy the goods news that a swiftly decreasing number of young people in America are willing to go overseas to disrupt and control other nations by force.

The Takeaway

The power of the Deep State is only as great as the extent to which people are willing to continue to take up arms and fight for causes that we are clearly seeing are unjust. Many in the past were brainwashed into thinking that they were fighting in wars for important values and principles, like ‘freedom’ and ‘democracy.’ As we awaken to the truth of our history, and our unwitting complicity in unnecessary conflict in the world, the way of global peace and unity will become clear to us.

How We Can Deal With The ‘Chaos’ Of Elite Pedophilia, ET Disclosure, & Other Big Truths (QA)

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

At the moment, many truths are rising to the surface of our society that is bringing up a multitude of emotions. In this weekly Q&A, we discuss how we can effectively handle and move through learning these truths on a collective scale.

  • Reflect On:

Are you taking the time to truly understand and process what is rising to the surface of ourselves as we learn about what is happening in our world? Are we dismissing this as negative and ignoring the opportunity to grow?

This week the question that came up was about how we deal with many of the big truths or revelations that are collectively coming to the surface in our society. Things like corruption, the cabal, elite pedophilia, ET disclosure, sexual abuse and so forth.

It also seems like each day we are learning more truths related to these topics, and they are also becoming hard for us to ignore and continue to pretend they are just ‘negative’ things to discuss. So the question of “how do we deal with the internal and collective ‘chaos’ that sometimes comes as a result of learning these truths” becomes a big one.

For some, fear arises. For others, anger, despair, worry, and confusion. In some ways, on social media we see huge wars taking place surrounding these topics, and through the mainstream media, societal divides are being fuelled. But I have also seen that for some, including myself, learning these things can create feelings of relief, understanding and freedom as we realize we were not crazy in what we thought and felt about what really goes on in our world. We may realize that life actually makes more sense when you begin to understand how our world truly works.

It’s an important discussion to explore how we can TRULY handle, individually and collectively, the truths that are coming forth and not end up at each other’s throats, but instead be able to truly process this stuff maturely – something that seems difficult at the moment, but not impossible. In the video below, we have that discussion.
