The latest Bond movie, Spectre, touches on an insidious connection between certain vested interests who wish to control intelligence and spy on citizens on a global level. The movie shows how special interest groups create terror throughout countries in an effort to push through and scare the public and governments into enacting stricter surveillance and reducing civil liberties. While the Bond movie makes the baddies out to be nothing more than a bunch of voyeurs who wish to know what everyone is up to, in reality the stakes are much higher. During his farewell address on January 17, 1961, President Dwight Eisenhower warned about what he described as a threat to democratic government. He called it the military-industrial complex. This was the union of defense contractors and the armed forces. He explains:

“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist.”

The Pentagon Collaborates With Hollywood to Glorify War

Back in 1986 the movie Top Gun was released. As a young kid I remember watching Maverick and Goose chase down Russian MiGs. The film went on to become a box office success, turning into the highest grossing film in 1986 and going on to take $353 million in total world box office receipts.(1) I didn’t realize at the time, of course, that I was being subject to some good old fashioned propaganda. War propaganda comes in a few forms — the first being a tool for the military to recruit, the second being in glorifying war and keeping the military industrial complex in business.

While Top Gun was not overt propaganda, since it distorted any historical facts, it did have a significant influence on young people. Top Gun was made in collaboration with the Pentagon. It was released in the mid-1980s, when polls showed many Americans voicing doubts about the post-Vietnam military experience. The movie’s success of presenting sweaty jocks flying jets not only generated millions at the box office but proved to be a major force in reviving the military’s image. Enlistments went through the roof. The Navy capitalised by setting up recruitment tables at theatres playing the movie. Opinion polls showed rising confidence in the military as America fell in love with Maverick, Iceman, and Goose as they travelled at Mach 2. (2)

Top Gun is not alone as a propaganda tool for the military. There have been numerous other collaborations which promote the theme of war. Recent movies such as Man of Steel gained access to use military hardware, while state of the art fighter jets were featured in both of the Iron Man movies. The criteria for use of military equipment is pretty straightforward: make the military look good. The movies Pearl Harbour and Golden Eye were other films that received the support of the military. With billions of dollars of tax payer funded military equipment at hand, it is difficult for production houses to produce military films which don’t have the support of the Pentagon. The Pentagon worked closely with the filmmakers in the production of Top Gun, giving the producers access to high-end equipment such as warplanes and aircraft carriers for a meagre $1.8 million. (2a)

Not All Films Are Supported By the Pentagon

Not all films get the green light from the Pentagon, however. Oliver Stone, a military veteran himself and eight times an Academy Award winning filmmaker, has made numerous films about the reality of war. Stone knows all too well how the Hollywood Industrial Complex works. Stone wrote Platoon — the story based upon his experiences as a U.S. infantryman in Vietnam — to counter the glorified vision of war portrayed in John Wayne’s The Green Berets. It was the first Hollywood film to be written and directed by a veteran of the Vietnam War.171  Stone suggests that Eisenhower was correct in his assessment of the power the military-industrial complex, stating it is the single largest economic entity in the United States. (3)

Movies that had to go without any military support include Forest Gump, Platoon, Apocalypse Now, Independence Day, and Thin Red LineAny movie script which denigrates the military, harms recruitment efforts, refers to drugs or alcohol, or where any enemy overpowers the military (including aliens), is a big no no when it comes to receiving potential military involvement. Hence, only stylised celluloid dreams of heroic American myths of imperialism and the rewriting of history is portrayed to audiences across the globe. The big loser in all this propaganda is, of course, the audience. The movie going public is exposed to a partial reality, which is a Pentagon glorification of war, funded by the U.S taxpayer.

War is Good for Corporations

The big winners are the corporations which support and provide the know-how, services, and equipment to the military. Some of the big players such as Lockheed Martin, a global aerospace, defense, security, and advanced technology company, with worldwide interests, take home some serious dollars from the U.S government and taxpayers. In 2013, 82% of Lockheed Martin’s $45.4 billion in net sales were from the U.S. Government, either as a prime contractor or as a subcontractor (including 61% from the Department of Defense [DoD]). 17% of Lockheed’s revenues were from international customers (including foreign military sales [FMS], contracted through the U.S. Government), and 1% were from U.S. commercial and other customers.(4)

Another key player in the military stakes is the Boeing Corporation, better known for its design and manufacture of commercial airlines. Under its Defence Space and Security Arm, it develops military aircraft, military communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems, satellites, and rockets, as well as providing services such as integrated logistics and supply chain management. This arm of the business constitutes approximately 40% of all operating revenues, contributing $33 billion to the Boeing’s bottom line. (5)

Another lesser known company is Northrop Grumman. Northrop Grumman is a global security company who provide an array of military aircraft systems, unmanned systems such as the maker of Global Hawk surveillance drones, cyber security, communications and computers, (C4) intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems and installations. In 2013 Northrop Grumman’s revenue exceeded $24 billion, most of which (86%) was from U.S. government contracts.(6) These are just a few of the corporations which form part of the military industrial complex Eisenhower warned about in his farewell speech back in 1961.

Military Contractors Reliant on Government Contracts

In his book How the Military Invades Our Everyday Lives, Nick Turse outlines how “the military has grown from 22,000 prime contractors doing business with the Department of Defense (DoD) in 1970, to 47,000 + prime contractors and more than 100,000 sub-contractors in 2008.” (7) It is easy to see how lines can become blurred. Many of these large corporations are completely reliant and vulnerable to maintaining government contracts. With such exposure and risk involved with operating these businesses it is easy to see why corporations have such close alliances with government. This close alliance of corporation and government may not always be in the best interest of democracy and the general population. So when we see terrorist attacks and our politicians promoting and coercing the citizens of countries to war, the question begs, who is benefiting from such actions and who is ultimately behind such aggression?

The US recently released its highly anticipated Pentagon UAP report, but it wasn’t much more than a 9 page rundown of what has been known for decades. Regardless, for many, what was promising was that the UFO subject was being taken seriously again – and perhaps many more scientists might get involved.

For decades many have been warning about leaving UFO disclosure in the hands of a government that likes to use crisis’ or current events to expand its defense budgets. Further, why would we suddenly expect a government, who has been lying about this subject for 70 years, to suddenly come forth with the truth? What would inspire them to suddenly change their mind?

Perhaps it’s because the search for ET is an idea who’s time has truly come. We’ve reporting on this for over 13 years, and are mongst a community of researchers who have been encouraging humanity to look at the evidence for more than 70 years. It feels like an idea that human collective consciousness is more than ready to explore.

The impact the ET question has on our individual and collective worldview has the power to truly change the way we view ourselves and the meaning of life here on earth. Think of the implications answers to this question could have on how we set up and run our society as well. Technology, culture, collaboration etc – I spoke about this more in great detail in my extended interview for Greer’s. prior film Close Encounters of The Fifth Kind here.

Now, a new documentary from Dr. Steven Greer, directed by my good friend Michael Mazzola, seeks to explore what the films calls “the current government and media disinformation campaign promoting 3 big lies:”

1. We do not know what these UAPs/ UFOs are. WE DO.
2. Humans cannot make craft that can maneuver like UFOs. WE CAN and WE DO.
3. The UFOs are a threat. THEY ARE NOT.

Bold statements. Watch the film below and see what resonates most with you.

So is it aliens? The long awaited Pentagon UFO report is here, and the executive summary alone gives insight into the nature of this report from US Intelligence Communities.

The limited amount of high-quality reporting on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) hampers our ability to draw firm conclusions about the nature or intent of UAP. The Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF) considered a range of information on UAP described in U.S. military and IC (Intelligence Community) reporting, but because the reporting lacked sufficient specificity, ultimately recognized that a unique, tailored reporting process was required to provide sufficient data for analysis of UAP events.

Essentially, the report aims to acknowledge 16 years of this phenomenon, while leaving out the 70 years it has been studying this phenomenon.

Still, as per the report, the U.S. government can’t explain 143 of the 144 cases of unidentified flying objects reported by their own military planes.

It acknowledges that “a handful of UAP appear to demonstrate advanced technology.”

In 18 incidents, described in 21 reports, observers reported unusual UAP movement patterns or flight characteristics. Some UAP appeared to remain stationary in winds aloft, move against the wind, maneuver abruptly, or move at considerable speed, without discernible means of propulsion. In a small number of cases, military aircraft systems processed radio frequency (RF) energy associated with UAP sightings.

The UAPTF holds a small amount of data that appear to show UAP demonstrating acceleration or a degree of signature management. Additional rigorous analysis are necessary by multiple teams or groups of technical experts to determine the nature and validity of these data. We are conducting further analysis to determine if breakthrough technologies were demonstrated.

It goes on to drop the last 16 years of measuring this phenomenon into 5 key categories, non of which mention non human intelligent life, but that is technically a bin for it.

The five categories are,

Airborne Clutter: These objects include birds, balloons, recreational unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), or airborne debris like plastic bags that muddle a scene and affect an operator’s ability to identify true targets, such as enemy aircraft. Natural

Atmospheric Phenomena: Natural atmospheric phenomena includes ice crystals, moisture, and thermal fluctuations that may register on some infrared and radar systems.

USG or Industry Developmental Programs: Some UAP observations could be attributable to developments and classified programs by U.S. entities. We were unable to confirm, however, that these systems accounted for any of the UAP reports we collected.

Foreign Adversary Systems: Some UAP may be technologies deployed by China, Russia, another nation, or a non-governmental entity. UNCLASSIFIED 6 UNCLASSIFIED

Other: Although most of the UAP described in our dataset probably remain unidentified due to limited data or challenges to collection processing or analysis, we may require additional scientific knowledge to successfully collect on, analyze and characterize some of them. We would group such objects in this category pending scientific advances that allowed us to better understand them. The UAPTF intends to focus additional analysis on the small number of cases where a UAP appeared to display unusual flight characteristics or signature management.

The report does state, rather predictably, that some observations could be the result of sensor errors, spoofing, or observer misperception and require additional rigorous analysis.

As expected, they are claiming that “UAP clearly pose a safety of flight issue and may pose a challenge to U.S. national security.” What’s odd about this statement is that this phenomenon has been known about for 70 years, yet not a single aviation incident has occurred that anyone knows of, so why are they a threat to flight all of a sudden?

Further, one could expect “a threat to nation security” would be mentioned  for two reasons: on a political level this means more attention will be paid to the issue, and there has long been political leverage gained from presenting certain global events as a threat to ‘get other things done.’

In this case, the report makes mention of foreign adversary threats should these incidences fall under that category, claiming these could be breakthrough or disruptive technology.

The report contends that further scientific analysis and more focused measurement apparatus would be required to answer some of the unanswered questions surrounding ‘the few’ instances where UAP performed ‘impossible’ maneuvers.

There is likely a classified version of this report that would be in much greater detail. The question is why after 70 years is the public still in the dark?

Perhaps the takeaway here is that although this is essentially a repeat of Project Blue Book of the 50s and 60s, we are now in a time where it’s being talked about again. Further, we are in an age where information spreads a lot faster and a lot further then back then. Perhaps that will be the kicker this time around.

We’ll have more detailed coverage throughout the day and into tomorrow.

The long awaited Pentagon UFO report is set to be released from the U.S. Intelligence Community. Some of those waiting expect a moment of acknowledgment, but perhaps nothing all that new, while others are hoping for a much deeper admission of non-human intelligent life. Time will tell.

In the wake, Senator Marco Rubio has issued the following statement:

Rubio Statement on UAP Report

Miami, FL — Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Vice Chairman Marco Rubio (R-FL) released a statement on the unclassified report on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) issued by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).

“For years, the men and women we trust to defend our country reported encounters with unidentified aircraft that had superior capabilities, and for years their concerns were often ignored and ridiculed,” Rubio said. “This report is an important first step in cataloging these incidents, but it is just a first step. The Defense Department and Intelligence Community have a lot of work to do before we can actually understand whether these aerial threats present a serious national security concern.”

In 2020, Rubio, as Acting Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, included report language in the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 directing ODNI to submit a report to congressional intelligence and armed services committees on unidentified aerial phenomena.

We’ll have full coverage of the what’s in the report later today, if the report is released, and of course in the coming days as it will inevitably require much analysis and discussion. Sign up to our email list and follow us on Twitter for more to come.
