How To Go After What You Love In Life & Mitigate The Risk

Published

on

In the animal kingdom both prey and predator have to take risks to survive. There is no comfort zone that allows for sustained security. For example, wild rodents must leave the safety of their den to forage for food with the knowledge that they could come across predators. Yet they are equally aware that if they stay in their den they will starve; a risk must be taken to get what they need to survive.

Predators such as leopards, on the other hand, also have to take risks when hunting prey. Many of the prey they hunt, such as baboons and wild boar, are equipped with dangerous horns, teeth, and other evolutionary tools used for self-defense. When pursuing these animals, the leopard risks serious injury every time it hunts; fatal injuries which could prevent it from hunting and nurturing its young must be carefully considered during each hunt. Mothers must risk having their offspring eaten by predators or rival males every time they leave their young to go get food. If the leopard chooses not to hunt it will starve, so it once again has no choice but to take risks. Animals that survive these risks and become more adept at successfully taking them evolve.

The message of this article isn’t that we live in an every man for himself, dog eat dog world, but rather, that we live in a world where we have to take a chance on ourselves to get what we want out of life. Many people in challenging positions often give up on their dreams, mitigating risks to settle for what is safe. This is practical if your fear of falling below the status quo is stronger than your desire to be fulfilled. But if your desire to be more free and live life with more meaning and fulfillment is strong, then you have to think about what you are prepared to do to go after what you want in life. “Chasing meaning is better than avoiding discomfort,” as Kelly McGonigal would say.

For the free spirit, this is the evolution of survival. As the middle class is shrinking, the crumbs left for a decent fulfilling life are getting smaller and smaller. Most people will accept this blithely, taking what they can, living how they can, accepting that the world is the way it is, trying to stay in line and live as they’re told. This can be absolutely soul crushing to the free spirit. You deserve more, you want more, and you’re willing to work hard for it given the right opportunity, but how do you attain it?

The free spirit isn’t a cog in the wheel but a person who values living an authentic life. Having no choice but to make money to survive, finding a balance between passion and making a living is a delicate endeavor. Your soul yearns to do something meaningful and fulfilling, but you have grown used to the cubicle life. And it is killing you inside. Whether it’s going back to school, working in a new field of your choice, starting a business, or embarking on a new project or artistic endeavor, the decision to take a leap into something new is always daunting. If you’re in this position you may be unsure if it will work out the way you envisioned. Will I make enough money? Are the actual day-to-day activities of the new career going to drain or burn me out? Any career change involves a step into daunting unknown territory.

If you’re still poor at 35 you deserve it. No matter what one does, regardless of failure or success, the experience is a form of success in itself. You have got to keep trying.” –  Jack Ma, founder of alibaba.com

The above quote might sound rather harsh but I would agree that if you have ever wanted more than what your current lifestyle provides but were too afraid to take the leap of faith in yourself, rather than to say “you deserve it,” as Jack Ma would put it, I think it’s fair to say that you should at least take responsibility for it. It is never too late to invest in yourself and chart your own course.

So many of us chose our path out of fear disguised as practicality because what we want is impossibly out of reach and ridiculous to expect so we never dare to ask the Universe for it.” – Jim Carrey

The first hexagram of the I Ching, the creative principal, urges one to forcefully follow through with their ambitions. There is no yielding or weakness as Creation cannot manifest without the strong will of the visionary. The Creative does not flow to those who settle for less than what they envisioned. One must be purposeful, determined, and unwavering in their ambitions.

The pitfalls of failure are valid reasons for fear but for every objection there is an answer. The more challenging the problem, the more work required to obtain the solution. Often people’s dreams are not on par with their desire to obtain solutions. The reality is that the obstacle IS the path. What you will encounter and go through on your journey is what you need to reveal your true nature. Your true nature is the realization of your positive characteristics and your negative characteristics. It is the realization of everything holding you back and everything moving you forward. It is the realization of the illusion you have brought on yourself as to why you can’t get what you want. Living fully through your true nature will translate into all areas of your life, especially when it comes to making a living.

What will other people think of me if I fail?

penny man

This is one of the biggest obstacles that hold people back from taking a chance on themselves — worrying about what friends and family will think if they fall behind. The irony is that the ego makes ambitious people want to get ahead of the herd, yet at the same time makes them fearful of falling behind it. Intense desires to get ahead and fear of falling behind can be detrimental when taken to extremes. Despite the diversity of environments people are raised in, a commonality we share is that we often allow other people and society as a whole to mold us into who we are, out of a need to feel accepted or above the pack.

That isn’t the most authentic way to live; it is rather a conditioned dream state of living one’s life. Revisit your true self and make decisions from your center. It’s okay to seek advice and opinions from friends and family but they shouldn’t be the primary catalyst in your decision making process to change your life. You are a conscious being with needs and desires, going through a human experience in this life-time. The rest of the world has little concern for your journey and what fulfills you on your path to freedom, fulfillment, happiness, etc. Some people, like friends and family, may truly want what THEY THINK is best for you, projecting their expectations of what you should do to be a part of an ideal member of the family or circle of friends. Some people may shut you down and tell you to do what’s perceived as practical, which is what the majority is doing. If you fail, some people will no longer associate with you, and that’s okay, because the ones who remain are the ones who really count.

Through this process you may need to let go of people who no longer resonate with your true self. As you proceed, the Universe will reward you for being you and the right people will stay in your life and the new right people will come into your life. You will eventually be surrounded by people who inspire you. You will also be around people who see your vision or are pursuing the same endeavors, moving up the mountain together with those who resonate with you. “The only thing you will see at the top of the mountain is what you bring.” Let go of your fears, insecurities, and heavy baggage, and the ascent will be much smoother.

This is the best thing you could do for yourself. Taking a risk to do what you are passionate about is one of life’s most rewarding challenges. Through this process you will learn a lot about yourself, which will lead you to a level of self mastery that few people in this world attain. The most challenging thing in life that you will ever face is You, that’s it! Your ego will get in the way of much of what you are meant to have. Self doubt, self pity, procrastination, arrogance, ignorance, impatience, callousness, inconstancy — all of these things need to be addressed as you work toward your goals. There needs to be a little drill sergeant/Zen master inside of you keeping you on top of things. Always work as hard as you play. By that same token, don’t forget to play as hard as you work. Take your ambitions seriously, but not to the point where you are no longer present and enjoying being alive.

Those who are up for the challenge become who they are meant to be, and those who give up on themselves stop walking that path entirely — settling for another lifestyle, another identity that feels more secure and accepted but is less authentic, less in tune with what drives and motivates them. We lose grip on reality while reality grips us. We put down our tools and we decide we will no longer be the architects of our reality, forfeiting our power to external circumstances that we call reality but are nothing more than excuses, allowing this external reality to chisel us into shape. Through invocation you realize the external circumstances that you have used to validate why you have not achieved your goal are a disguise of the true source of your defeat — a lack of confidence in yourself. You feel like the odds are stacked against you and you forfeit. Or you feel like the task is too challenging to commit to, so again, you forfeit.

You have to be honest with yourself before you give up on something. Ask yourself, what could I have done better? What shouldn’t I have done that would have made it better? Then you begin to realize all the times you weren’t consistent, all the times you gave up on the first few tries, or all the times you ignored critical advice from other people who were doing it right. You recall each instance where you tried to reinvent the wheel and every stupid decision you have ever made. For some people, instead of collecting these experiences as Gems of Wisdom, they are received as confidence crushing experiences.

Failure is an opportunity. If you blame someone else, there is no end to the blame. Therefore the Master fulfills one’s own obligations and corrects one’s own mistakes. One does what is needed to do and demands nothing of others.” – Lao Tzu

There may also be external circumstances beyond your control that make you feel like the odds are stacked against you vs. other players in the game. “All men [and women] are created equal” — that’s what it says on paper, but there are unspoken realities which aren’t in the manual. Fairness and equality are like two cars at the starting line ready to go from zero to 60 as fast as they can to win the race. The fairness is that they are both beginning at the same location and time, yet one car is a Ferrari and the other is a rusty 1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera.

Sometimes the game might feel like it’s rigged and it causes many to give up with a “what’s the point” perspective. I sympathize with this but I still can’t agree with it. If life sucks for you and you want more, then why settle for a crummy life? Instead of giving up, why not dedicate your life toward fighting to get out of that situation? Why not go after what you deserve instead of succumbing to the reality that stifles your radiance? The smartest people I know are successful people who didn’t come from privilege. They are the most out of the box lateral thinkers I know. When the system doesn’t work for you, sometimes you have to find creative ways through and or around it to get where you want to be, but with enough dedication, there is a way. Lateral thinkers don’t confine themselves to rigid standard procedures, they are fluid, like water, adapting and adjusting to any circumstance, yet steadily carving out their own path.

Don’t pray for an easy life, pray to have the strength to endure a difficult one.” – Bruce Lee

On the other hand, very legitimate reasons can come into play with regard to forgoing your passions. Having kids is one of the most reasonable, equally rewarding and fulfilling life circumstances that can take the dreamer out of his/her dream. There are a whole host of unforeseen events that can force someone to become completely selfless, putting away their own ambitions to take care of the life of another. If you have found yourself in this position but still have the spark of your previous ambition inside you, you may want to begin looking into ways you can steadily chip away at it in the most practical method that won’t disrupt the balance of your family’s livelihood.

Giving up on a pursuit isn’t necessarily giving up on yourself. Going back to what you don’t like or what you think is “safe” is what giving up on yourself really looks like. When leaving a pursuit that didn’t work out, one must still continue to search and find what is right for them, rather than going back to the status quo because it is the “safe” bet.

When you do what you are passionate about, you will do what resonates with you. You will then put your best energy into your pursuit, therefore adding value to that pursuit and the collective that sees value in it. This is what it means to do what you are meant to do. You are fulfilling the reason for your existence by channeling your energy into your passions. Even through hard times the lessons you learn along the way will be very eye opening and rewarding to your personal development. Have faith that the Universe will reward you for being you. When you abandon what fulfills you, and you decide to settle for a less then optimal vocation, you are not aligning yourself with the Universe. On that path, hard times will be more frustrating, as they offer little value to your personal development other than to tell you that you should probably start changing direction.

Risk

stacking chips

When taking a new direction in life one has to assess what will or could be lost in comparison to what will and could be gained. A further assessment of how much one values what will or could be lost in comparison to how much one values what could and will be gained is calculated into the decision. Finally, the likelihood of loss or gain is a major deterrent or encouraging element of the decision making process. Thinking too much of the extreme outcomes on either end can hinder you in different ways. Some people focus too much on the probability of what could be gained, being short sighted of what could be lost, leading one to make rash and impulsive choices. Others focus entirely on what could be lost and remain too afraid to make a move, which leads to stagnation and rigid thinking. Only you can decide what risks are worth taking (or not). A simple awareness and acceptance of how things could play out in either direction is a significant step toward differentiating yourself from timidness and recklessness.

So what if the risk you take doesn’t pay off?

frustrating hair pulling

Dan Kennedy, one of America’s most intelligent entrepreneurs, once said “I have a lot of expensive experience.” Through his journey of becoming a successful marketer, he has lost a ton of money to entrepreneurial endeavors in the beginning of his career. Many of the world’s most successful people have gone through dismal failure(s) before becoming successful. And I’m not saying this to make you feel better if you have failed. The point is to understand that successful people not only learn from their mistakes, but also have the confidence and consistency to pick themselves up again and charge forward. Use your losses to build your wisdom and continue to move forward. That’s how you suffer successfully. “Success is not built on success. It’s built on failure. It’s built on frustration. Sometimes it’s built on catastrophe.” — Sumner Redstone.

For those of you who play or have played video games, there is always a time when a player gets stuck on a difficult level. The player dies over and over again, but each time you get back in the game you have a little more knowledge of what to look out for and what to take advantage of in that level. Eventually, after enough trial and error, you pass the level and move on with the game… of life. That’s pretty much how people get shit done. You can give up and quit, choose a new game to play and start all over from scratch, or you can keep mastering the game you’re already playing. As long as your heart is still in it, you will eventually pass the difficult levels in life.

Nothing worth pursuing in life comes easy. If you want to create extraordinary things then you will have to have to take extraordinary steps to do it, as well as have an extraordinary commitment to it. Believing you have a strong locus of control is a key quality of anyone who wishes to bring their own ideas and visions into reality.

The last thing I want to leave you with is a series of some of my favourite quotes.

How I Induced An Out Of Body Experience Without Substances

Published

on

Can you really have an out of body experience on command? Absolutely. While this is something that will take some time to practice and get good at, there are many methods to having out of body experiences or spiritual experiences on command using only your consciousness and physical body.

There is also a purpose to these experiences; they aren’t simply to trip out (although if you wish to do that it’s up to you). These experiences can help you dissolve fears, move past trauma, expand your consciousness and much more. I personally don’t feel inspired to do anything other than explore and expand myself when I engage in experiences like this.

Many of the stories you hear of out of body experiences happen through dreams, near death experiences, from the state between sleep and awake, and when people experiment with psychedelics like magic mushrooms, DMT or ayahuasca. But we are capable of having out-of-body experiences with just our thoughts, breath and consciousness.

Why These Experiences Can Be Helpful

I say “CAN BE” helpful because they have that ability, but it doesn’t mean we always use it. We may want to explore a past trauma, and meditation or OBE’s could help us do that, but if we don’t use them for this purpose or do the work afterwards they won’t be helpful. Likewise with any substance like ayahuasca, mushrooms or DMT. They don’t do the work for you and don’t save you. You still have to do the work afterwards and it’s for this exact reason that most people who experiment with these substances or experiences still don’t make shifts in their lives because it’s still work. And it’s the work that we often aren’t willing to do that stops us from moving forward.

Your intention for wanting to have these experiences is important. Sometimes when we think about psychedelics or having out of body experiences we are seeking a trippy-like experience out of curiosity. And that’s totally fine. Curiosity can be how we explore and learn things. But while it may be fun to play a couple times, I generally say it isn’t the best motivation for wanting to have these experiences. I typically tend to encourage people to reflect on a deeper sense of exploration and growth within ourselves when it comes to exploring our consciousness, which is a big part of what we do in CE’s Explorer Lounge you can check out here.

The reason why I believe focusing on having a trippy experience is not ideal is because I have seen many people get lost in the need to just experiencing something trippy. Not only that, but it can often become an escape from the challenges we face. Which is why I feel society utilizes cannabis, alcohol, TV and food addictively.

DMT, mushrooms, Ayahuasca and so forth were initially put on this planet when we had difficult times exploring our consciousness and external tools assisted us in doing that. Today, a resurgence of these substances is taking place as people’s curiosity to explore is once again popular. After all, there is a shift in consciousness taking place.

However, I do not believe we still need these substances today in order to have these types of consciousness based experiences. While I think they can be helpful for some of us who are in difficult situations like drug addiction or have serious trauma from war or violent experiences, I feel we are all very equipped within ourselves to explore without them, and I’m personally inspired to encourage that.

Ultimately it’s not as much about any substance or experience as it is about what the end goal helps us to see – more about ourselves. They tell us to look within to find answers and move past our challenges. So many experiences in life are all pushing us to do that exact same thing, look within. Our core teaching here at Collective Evolution is change starts within. All for the reason that it’s at the core of how we will create a profound shift in our lives and on this planet. So what can we take from this?

If we know the core truth is about us looking within, why not just begin looking there right now?

How I Created my Own Out Of Body Experience

I was in California, attending Wim Hof’s retreat in Beverly Hills. It was day two and we were doing a breathing exercise that was about focusing on energy in our body and learning how to control and use it.

At the Wim Hof retreat in California.

There was a focus on utilizing it to activate our pineal gland in such a way that may or may not release a little bit of DMT in your brain, allowing us to have some form of experience that would be beyond the physical. I would like to say at this point that this is certainly not the core message of Wim’s work, nor is it something that I think the method is truly for. It’s simply something that you can use in order to obtain this result. These forms of breathing exercises are not new either, they have been used by yogi’s and “guru’s” for many years to attain different states of consciousness.

There were about 60 of us, we were in a beautiful room with 15 foot ceilings and the sun was shining in through the side windows. I was laying flat on my back on a yoga mat patiently waiting for the exercise to start. This would not be the first time I was going to have an out of body experience, but it would be the first I would attempt on command. My previous experiences came from dream-states, meditation or simply.. happening.

We began with Wim’s standard method of breathing. Heavy breaths in and out of the mouth. Stomach, chest, head, out. After about 8 minutes of this, I went into my breath holds (as part of his method) and I began to focus energy from around the base of my spine and brought it up my back, into my brain and ‘pinged’ my pineal gland with it.

As I brought the energy up into my pineal gland I felt what I had felt in the past with these types of experiences. Ringing and vibrations in my body and mind starting to increase. With my eyes closed, I began to see the room. I could feel my essence slowly leaving my body up straight into the air. It moved slowly and peacefully. It wasn’t a fast jolt or ‘uncontrollable’ in a sense, it was very light.

The pineal gland.

As I drifted upwards more and more I eventually made it to the ceiling and rested there. What happened next was what you might experience in deep meditation which is having all of your thoughts emotions set aside and you begin to feel like a massive, massive, massive presence that is so far beyond your physical body that you no longer identify with being a physical body. You begin to realize you are a vast consciousness that is pure unconditional love and pure potential.

From this state of being you have the ability to utilize your awareness to look at your life, situations, the planet or whatever it may be from a completely non-judgmental and unconditionally loving way so as to deeply understand why things happen. You gain clarity and awareness as to how you may move forward with something from this space. These experiences help us to get a glimpse at what is beyond the stories and the drama of our minds. This is VERY powerful in clearing our fears, worries, and traumas.

Back to my experience here. As I continued to feel immense at the top of the ceiling, I could see all of the bodies in the room having their own experience. I felt connected to them, the building, and everything around us. The difference between myself and everything else drifted away, and I was simply an essence or consciousness observing. This, is precisely how I know experientially that consciousness does not originate in the mind but is our existence. Mainstream science has not caught up to this understanding yet but it’s getting close, and that is very inspiring.

After what could have been 10 or so minutes, I slowly came back down into my physical body and began to integrate back into it. I opened my eyes and began to feel the desire to go outside and enjoy the sunlight. I felt slightly emotional at this point as I had gotten a glimpse of the difference between feeling fully clear outside of my body vs feeling certain emotional pains and mind stories that were in my physical body. This right here, is where the magic is. This is how we see more clearly what it is that we are being challenged by and have a reference point to compare what letting it go feels like.

Concluding Thoughts

When you are in meditation, you are able to re-tune into these types of higher states of consciousness and be an observer looking back at the challenges you face at any moment in your life. With detachment from them you can ask yourself how you created or co-created the experience you are having and what lesson is in it for you. How does it serve you? How can you move forward with action and so forth? You can see the greater workings and perfection that comes with these experiences to help you move beyond them.

So that’s pretty well it! Utilize and explore these experiences with clear intentions of evolving yourself and you will have the best results in not only creating these experiences but attaining more peace in your life. Have fun and keep exploring!

New Moon In Gemini: Adaptability & Confusion

Published

on

We are having a New Moon in Gemini on May 22nd or 23rd, depending on where you are located in the world. This is initiating a 29.5-day Lunar cycle and a new wave of energy for the coming month, however, its themes will be strongest over the following 2 weeks. This cycle will peak with a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius on June 5th/6th.

Gemini season has just begun on May 20th/21st with it’s ruler Mercury also there. As an Air sign it is socially and mentally oriented, while as a Mutable sign it is versatile, adaptable, and multi-faceted. Mutable signs are the last of each season which is a reflection of its changeable nature to help facilitate a transition from one thing to the next.

Gemini’s energy is curious, communicative, articulate, informative, agile, busy, clever, and dualistic. It has chameleon-like properties and is the sign of multiple expressions or personalities. Gemini is associated with information, learning, writing, commuting, immediate environment, neighbours/neighbourhood, siblings, close friends, and extended family. Negatively, it can be gossipy, superficial, inconsistent, scattered, two faced, unfocused, and lack emotion.

Venus is currently retrograde in Gemini and the Lunar North Node also recently entered this sign. All of this puts an exclamation mark on Gemini themes at this time. The North Node will be there until early 2022 which reflects a push towards working with Gemini energies in a positively constructive way. Much of this process is getting emphasized over this next month. You can read more about Venus retrograde here.

New Moon Trine Saturn, Sextile Chiron, & Square Mars With Uranus In The Mix

This New Moon is in a tight trine with Saturn in Aquarius and sextile with Chiron. In comparison to previous months, these upcoming weeks can have more of a stabilizing energy. This can be good for applying ourselves in a disciplined, realistic, and committed way.

The sextile to Chiron gives us a small dose of its themes. Chiron is associated with healing, wholeness, cleansing, spiritual growth, innovative ideas, and discovery. It is holistic, bridging, creative, and unorthodox. This energy will also come up May 27th-28th/29th.

The New Moon is also in a square with Mars in Pisces which is moving towards a sextile with Uranus. This in combination with all the Gemini can bring restlessness and scatteredness. It can also be competitive, impulsive, and combative. Following the New Moon period, this energy will build up in the coming weeks and peak at the upcoming Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius.

Mars is moving towards a sextile with Uranus which is strongest from May 24th-25th/26th. This is good for making changes or trying new things. We may want to apply ourselves in unique, experimental, or revolutionary ways. Pursuing some sort of independence or freedom is another way this energy can be expressed.

Mercury Conjunct Venus Retrograde, Both Square Neptune & Out Of Bounds

The ruler of Gemini, Mercury, is in a conjunction with Venus retrograde which are both in Gemini as well. This is one of the more significant periods of the Venus retrograde and can facilitate some realizations or issues that are part of the retrograde process.  Thoughts or issues pertaining to relationships, values, money, art, or something aesthetic related can be prominent.

However, with both of them in a square to Neptune there can be some confusion, idealism, misunderstandings, flakiness, delusion, disappointments, or problems around boundaries. Issues pertaining to escapism or intoxication can come up and this can be a time of feeling tired and lethargic. In some cases this energy can be creatively or spiritually stimulating. This is strongest on the day of and days surrounding the New Moon.

Both Mercury and Venus are ‘Out of Bounds’. This is when planets move outside of the boundaries in which the Sun travels in, from our perspective on Earth. It is about exploring new territory as well as going outside of our usual limitations and conventional ways of doing things. This can also reflect seeing things from a different perspective and objective thinking.

Mercury, the planet of the mind, perceptions, reason, communication, commuting, and commerce has been out of bounds since May 16th until June 9th/10th. Venus, the planet of love, relationships, social life, values, money, beauty, art, and aesthetics, has been out of bounds since April 1st until June 1st.

Approaching Eclipse Season

In the two weeks after this New Moon we will have a Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius on June 5th/6th followed by a Solar Eclipse in Cancer on June 21st and another Lunar Eclipse in July. They are happening during Venus’ retrograde and post shadow, and will also overlap with an upcoming Mercury retrograde.

All of this combined shows that these coming months are a time of transitions, changes, and reorientations. Eclipses can reflect beginnings, endings, and even evolutionary developments pertaining to the sign it is in and in specific areas in each of our lives. However, their effects don’t always play out when they are occurring. They can also manifest sometime in the 6 months following and in some cases up to 6 weeks prior.

I will be writing separate articles on these eclipses, join my mailing list here to ensure that you are notified when they are published.

Making Intentions & Things To Consider

What has been coming up for you around love or regarding friendships? What are relationship dynamics showing you and in what ways do you lack clarity? How can you better communicate and harmonize how you interact with others? What are you learning about/through the information you are consuming and does it truly make sense for you? How can you better adapt to the circumstances in your life? What are your options for handling financial matters?

These are just some examples of what to consider or focus your intentions on at this time. However, it is good to reflect on anything else that is coming up for you. It is generally best to make any intentions within the first 24 hours following a New Moon. The exact moment it will occur is 5:39pm Universal Time on May 22nd, or the 23rd for those in the Eastern part of the world. You can click here to see what that is in your time zone.

The Non-Physical Properties of Human DNA

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

In 1995, scientists placed human DNA inside a sealed, air tight tube with photons. Without the DNA, the photons arranged themselves in a random scattered pattern, but when the DNA was inserted, the photons formed an alignment.

  • Reflect On:

Are there metaphysical, multidimensional aspects to our DNA? Have we just begun to understand what DNA is and what it represents?

Vladimir Poponin is a well known Russian scientist who in 1995, with his colleagues, including biophysicist Peter Gariaev, conducted a very interesting experiment during their time at the Russian Academy of Sciences. In their paper (P.P. Gariaev and V.P. Poponin. Vacuum DNA phantom effect in vitro and its possible rational explanation. Nanobiology 1995 (in press)), Poponin states, in the introduction of the report, that, “We believe this discovery has tremendous significance for the explanation and deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying subtle energy phenomena including many of the observed alternative healing phenomena.”

Why did he feel this way? We will get to that.

Poponin and Gariaev tested the behaviour of DNA on photons, little tiny bits of matter, in the “quantum” that our world is made up of. They put photons into a tube specially designed to simulate a vacuum, just like the vacuum of space. With no air inside, they inserted the photons as they wanted to see what they did and how they behaved. The photons were distributed in a way that was completely unordered and random, scattered all over the container. This of course was what the team of researchers expected.

Next, samples of human DNA were placed inside the tube with the photons, and what happened next is what’s truly mysterious. The photons reacted to the DNA, and changed their pattern and formed a specific alignment. In the presence of living material, the human DNA, the photons organized! This signified that the DNA was clearly having a direct influence over the photons. It’s one of many examples hypothesizing that something within us has a direct affect on the physical material matter outside of us. This experiment was repeated and confirmed, and it was further observed that human DNA has a direct affect on the quantum ‘stuff’ that our world is made up of. Fascinating to say the least.

The Next Big Surprise

The next big surprise was observed when the researchers removed the DNA from the container. The scientists assumed that the photons would simply return to their original scattered state, but this didn’t happen. Instead, the photons remained ordered as if the DNA were still in the tube. Poponin described the light as behaving “surprisingly and counter-intuitively.”

The researchers hypothesized and were “forced to accept the working hypothesis that some new field structure is being excited.” Is there something being left behind? Something in non-physical form? This experiment tells us that DNA is communicating with the ‘stuff’ our world is made of,  and that there is some sort of invisible field that exists. Perhaps DNA represents a place of storage and communications to the past? To the future? To others in the universe who have left their mark, so to speak. Who knows.

Quantum Physics and Consciousness

Nobel laureate of the twentieth century Richard Feynman once said, with regards to quantum mechanics, “we choose to examine a phenomenon which is impossible, absolutely impossible, to explain in any classical way, and which has in it the heart of quantum mechanics. In reality, it contains the only mystery.”

Another great quote that comes to mind anytime the world of science dives deep into the mysterious world of quantum physics:

There seems to be a deep concern that the whole field will be tarnished by studying a phenomenon that is tainted by its association with superstition, spiritualism and magic. Protecting against this possibility sometimes seems more important than encouraging scientific exploration or protecting academic freedom. But this may be changing.” –  Cassandra Vieten, PhD and President/CEO at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (source)

The reason why the association with superstition, spiritualism and magic mentioned in the quote above exists when it comes to examining certain phenomenon is simply because the observed phenomenon is unexplainable. But it’s important to remember, just because something is unexplainable does not mean that it’s not real, it simply means we don’t fully understand it yet. Academia has a long history of rejecting phenomenon, that’s clearly real, yet simply unexplainable.

Quantum physics clearly has a strong connection to consciousness, and metaphysical phenomenon.  Max Planck, a physicist who originated quantum theory, regarded consciousness as “fundamental,” and matter as “derivative from consciousness.” He said that “we cannot get behind consciousness. Everything that we talk about, everything that we regard as existing, postulates consciousness.”

This has been demonstrated quite clearly by multiple experiments, like  the quantum double slit experiment.

A paper published in the peer-reviewed journal Physics Essays by Dean Radin, PhD, explains how this experiment has been used multiple times to explore the role of consciousness in shaping the nature of physical reality. (source)

In this experiment, a double-slit optical system was used to test the possible role of consciousness in the collapse of the quantum wave-function. Photons were shot through two slits, in multiple different ways. The study found that factors associated with consciousness “significantly” correlated in predicted ways with perturbations in the double slit interference pattern. In this experiment, tiny bits of matter (photons, electrons, or any atomic-sized object) are shot towards a screen that has two slits in it. On the other side of the screen, a high tech video camera records where each photon lands. When scientists close one slit, the camera will show us an expected pattern, as seen in the video below. But when both slits are opened, an “interference pattern” emerges — they begin to act like waves.

You can refer to the actual study to find out more about that. (source) If you want to see a visual demonstration of the quantum double slit experiment, here’s a great little short animation.  The point is, consciousness changes the behaviour of the particles.

“Observation not only disturbs what has to be measured, they produce it. We compel the electron to assume a definite position. We ourselves produce the results of the measurement.” (source)

The study sourced above points out that  “factors associated with consciousness, such as meditation experience, electrocortical markers of focused attention, and psychological factors including openness and absorption, significantly correlated in predicted ways with perturbations in the double-slit interference pattern. The results appear to be consistent with a consciousness-related interpretation of the quantum measurement problem.”

The Takeaway

DNA is fascinating, and it’s probably the least understood part of our biology. There are definitely interesting metaphysical non-material aspects to our DNA, and changes to our DNA can come as a result of our thoughts, feelings and emotions alone. HeartMath researchers have shown that physical aspects of DNA strands could be influenced by human intention. The article, Modulation of DNA Conformation by Heart-Focused Intention – McCraty, Atkinson, Tomasino, 2003 – describes experiments that achieved such results. (source)

We have so much more to learn and discover about human DNA, and DNA in general.

I believe there are interdimensional aspects to it, but it’s a deep topic that goes far beyond the discussion of the phantom DNA effect. This article doesn’t even scratch the surface when it comes to studies within the realm of consciousness, and non material science. What’s good to know is that more people are becoming aware of non-material science. If you’re interested in this, I suggest you start doing more research into quantum physics and parapsychology.
