How Organized Sexual Abuse Has Stayed Under The Radar For So Long

Published

on

An episode of Dr Phil aired recently in which a woman spoke about being born into sexual slavery. She talked about her life having been sexually abused from before she could talk right through to adulthood. An “owner” had control of her, and sold her to wealthy clients for sexual/sadistic abuse and torture.

People have had mixed reactions to this. A number of people seem to have taken Kendall’s story on board and believe her, and consider this information in light of several other stories that have brought to light the reality of organized sexual abuse. To scratch the surface in the mainstream media:

Some people do not believe her, and are unwilling to entertain the possibility that organized groups with a lot of money could be engaged in such practices.

I completely get that. I don’t want it to be true either. My work with sexual abuse victims, however, has opened my eyes to a horrific reality that exists in our world — including in small, everyday communities in Western society, where people would never imagine this is happening. I have met people who were prostituted by family members for money, trafficked through gangs, and abused by groups of trusted people.

For these women and men to even be sitting in front of me ready to talk, they have to have already (mostly) overcome the overwhelming fear that they will be found and killed for telling the truth about what happened to them. Abuse like this is so incredibly horrifying to experience, that the shock of it alone can be enough to fear any possible repercussions for trying to get away or reach out for help once they are away from the abusers. Many people who live through sexual /sadistic abuse cannot bring themselves to talk about what happened because they fear no-one would believe them.

How has this widespread problem existed in relative secrecy for so long?

I believe there are a few elements to this.

Physical Control by Perpetrators

Perpetrators go to great lengths to cover their tracks. This can mean ending someone’s life in some cases. Other sexual abuse victims can be kept in slavery and never given the opportunity to escape.

Mental Control by Perpetrators

For those for whom there may be a possibility of escape, perpetrators will use skilled manipulation to keep a victim terrified and under control. People or animals may be killed in front of them, to demonstrate what will happen if they don’t comply or ever try to escape. Other abusers who harm children who are still living in the community may make threats while carrying out the abuse, like: “If you ever tell anyone, I will kill your Mother/baby brother/best friend,” or “If you try to talk about this, I will do to your little sister what I have been doing to you.”

Other manipulative words focus on the victim being the one who is to blame for the abuse. Some perpetrators tell the one they are abusing things like: “You are dirty and this is your fault,” or “If you didn’t look like that I wouldn’t be doing this to you.” In the case of Kendall, she was told “You were born for this purpose” and nothing in her life proved otherwise.

Manipulative words have the potential to sink in and become belief systems. Victims can feel either too afraid to talk because of what the abuser will do, or they can believe that it is their fault and no-one would offer them help anyway.

Abusers whose victims still live in the community have usually gone to great lengths to establish themselves in positions of authority and trust. The perpetrators of abuse on these children are usually known to them or their family, but trusted because of the position they hold or their ability to manipulate the parents into believing they are good people.

This can make it even harder for victims to speak out, because people react with disbelief because it does not fit the picture they have built in their minds of the alleged perpetrator. The more well-established this positive picture is in people’s minds, the harder it is to get someone to believe that the perpetrator would actually do something like that (think Jimmy Savile, Rolf Harris, and Bill Cosby).

A huge step for victims of sexual abuse is finally making the decision to reach out for help and speak to someone about what happened to them. For some, this has happened after a big internal battle where part of their conditioning tells them they are worth nothing and they don’t deserve any help. A small voice inside, however, is saying “No, it’s not okay for this to happen to anyone” and this is the voice I hope they listen to.

Failure to be Believed

Sexual abuse perpetrators and human traffickers know that most people are good, decent people, who would never dream of committing rape/sexual abuse, or sadistic torture. They exploit this fact to the utmost degree. Many victims who have spoken out about being abused/trafficked/tortured have been met with utter disbelief. It is so incredibly hard for a person to have lived through what a sexual abuse survivor has lived through, have fought a battle to find the courage to talk about it, only to be dismissed.

Why Does This Happen?

Why do good people sometimes fail to believe victims of sexual abuse?

For many people, it is actually too much to believe that this is happening, and happening to great numbers of people. Of course we all want there to be another explanation. But where are all these women and children who go missing every day? Where are they?

I have listened to people whose parents didn’t believe them ask me why. “Why didn’t they believe me?” It is such a heart-breaking question. One of the ways I have tried to make sense of it has been by looking inside myself. There was a stage as a newly practicing therapist when I wasn’t sure I could do a job where my sole focus would be to work with people who had suffered sexual abuse. I knew that I would have to be there with them, fully present and with an open heart, holding space and helping them work through the depths of their pain, and I didn’t know if I could do it.

What I have found through working in mental health is that sexual abuse is happening everywhere. People like me had to learn how to face our fear and help anyway, even if we thought we might cry. Because if not us, who? If not now, when??

This is why I think that people sometimes turn away from victims and do not believe them; because they are not ready to face that amount of pain. They are not ready to accept that humans do this to each other, or would do that to their own child. Maybe they have no explanation for why humans do this to each other, so because they can’t rationally understand it, they reject it. Maybe they are not ready to accept that we live in a world where this is happening every day, by people in all levels of society, because that is far too horrifying.

It is time for us all to realize that this is happening. Widespread sexual abuse and human trafficking is a reality in our world today.

To help the ones who need our help now, or may one day reach out to us, we as a collective need to learn how to face this painful truth, with all the emotion it brings up in us.

When we can turn toward our own painful emotional reactions with acceptance and compassion, we can begin to come to terms with what is happening. Doing this helps us learn how to nurture ourselves with love through our own pain, and we then feel more compassion and empathy for those who are suffering around us. This is how we as humanity can come through this as a whole, in support of each other.

Trump EPA OKs ‘Emergency’ Use of Bee-killing Pesticide On 13.9 Million Acres For The Next 4-6 Years

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

The Environmental Protection Agency recently announced “emergency” approvals to spray sulfoxaflor — an insecticide considered “very highly toxic” to bees — on nearly 14 million acres of crops known to attract bees.

  • Reflect On:

Why do corrupt federal regulatory agencies have the power to do what they please, regardless of how many people oppose it? Why do their actions not take into consideration all life on Earth and the environment when they are tasked to do so?

It’s no secret that pesticides have been killing bees in extreme numbers, especially in North America. Many other countries have imposed bans and restrictions on the pesticides that are sprayed in Canada and America. The idea that pesticides are killing bees in mass amounts isn’t really up for debate, and it’s something that we here at Collective Evolution have been creating awareness about for nearly 10 years.

Since 2006, when the term “Colony Collapse Disorder” or CCD was coined in the U.S., commercial beekeepers have reported extraordinary losses averaging 29 to 45 percent per year. Such losses are unprecedented — more than double what is considered normal. In the last several years, neonicotinoid pesticides — both alone and in combination with other pesticides — have emerged as a key catalyst behind this disturbing phenomenon, both because of their direct toxicity to bees and their indirect and cascading effects. If you’d like to learn more about this, there are countless examples and studies online.

The question that’s most important to ask is: Why and how are substances like these getting approved by our federal health regulatory agencies when they are clearly wreaking havoc on human, animal, and insect health? They are destroying nature.

We must acknowledge that our federal health regulatory agencies have been completely compromised. Big corporations have “captured them (our regulatory agencies) and turned them into sock puppets. They’ve compromised the press.” – Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (source)

This is evident thanks to so many examples, including testimonies from employees within these agencies. Known as the ‘Spider Papers,’ a group called the CDC Scientists Preserving Integrity, Diligence and Ethics in Research, or CDC SPIDER, put a list of complaints in a letter to the CDC Chief of Staff and provided a copy of the letter to the public watchdog organization U.S. Right to Know (USRTK).

We are a group of scientists at CDC that are very concerned about the current state of ethics at our agency.  It appears that our mission is being influenced and shaped by outside parties and rogue interests. It seems that our mission and Congressional intent for our agency is being circumvented by some of our leaders. What concerns us most, is that it is becoming the norm and not the rare exception. Some senior management officials at CDC are clearly aware and even condone these behaviors.

These rouge parties include pesticide manufacturing companies like Monsanto, which is now Bayer. This is also why we constantly see a ‘revolving door’ of employees that go to and from these corporations and our federal regulatory agencies. Merck’s Julie Gerberding is one of several great examples.

This is why it wasn’t a big surprise when the Environmental Protection Agency recently announced their “emergency” approval of spray sulfoxaflor — an insecticide considered “very highly toxic” to bees — on nearly 14 million acres of crops known to attract bees. Crops of cotton and sorghum in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia are all included in the approval, and 10 of the 11 states have been granted approval for at least four consecutive years for the same “emergency.” Five have been given approval for at least six consecutive years.

5.8 million acres in Texas are implicated, which is home to more than 800 species of bees native to that area. This also includes Monarch butterflies and eight species of bumblebees.

According to the Center For Biological Diversity,

The EPA may approve temporary emergency uses of pesticides, including unapproved pesticides, if it determines they are needed to prevent the spread of an unexpected outbreak of insects.

But the agency has routinely abused this authority, as chronicled in the Center’s report, Poisonous Process: How the EPA’s Chronic Misuse of ‘Emergency’ Pesticide Exemptions Increases Risks to Wildlife. The report found that the alleged “emergencies” cited are foreseeable occurrences.

Last year the EPA’s Office of the Inspector General released a report finding that the agency’s practice of routinely granting “emergency” approval for pesticides across millions of acres does not effectively measure risks to human health or the environment.

In response to a lawsuit by beekeepers, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the EPA’s original registration of sulfoxaflor in 2015. The EPA’s 2016 registration for sulfoxaflor — purportedly designed to ensure essentially no exposure to bees — excluded crops like cotton and sorghum that are attractive to bees.

A study published last year in Nature found that sulfoxaflor exposure even at low doses had severe consequences for bumblebee reproduction. The authors cautioned against the EPA’s current trajectory of replacing older neonicotinoids with nearly identical insecticides like sulfoxaflor. A major study published earlier this year found that more than 41 percent of the world’s insect species are on the fast track to extinction, and that a “serious reduction in pesticide usage” is key to preventing their extinction.

This is politics for you. Presidents and politicians have always been frontmen for corporations and the global elite. These are people that clearly do not care about our planet, the environment, or the beings that live on it. All that seems to be of concern to them is major profit. Furthermore, the drastic and inhumane acts like the spraying of these pesticides, which not only contribute to a massive bee decline, but have harmful implications on human and animal health as well as the environment, makes one wonder what the heck is really going on?

Who in their right mind would approve such a thing? And how is it even justifiable? It’s confusing and heart-breaking to say the least.

The Takeaway

Jane Goodall once told the world that “there are people in government who truly agree when I talk with them, they agree that this mine shouldn’t go ahead, or that dam shouldn’t be built, or Monsanto shouldn’t be allowed to test its seeds here. It’s corruption really, the might of money, the corporations that hold governments in their hands because of lobbying power and so forth, it’s really frightening.”

So, what can we do about it? Well, we can keep using our voices and creating awareness, because that’s the only thing that’s ever lead to any type of change within this area. There are countless activists out there working on this issue, and that’s because we are awake, aware, and clearly see what the problem is.

Now more than ever people are well aware of how big business and money completely control politics. Not everything we see on the surface is accurate, and this awareness alone leads to a change in perception. No, the president and presidents before him are not who you think they are, they are simply puppets. Politics has never really served the people and the planet, it simply provides the illusion that it does.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX Begins Launching 4,425 New Satellites Into Low Orbit For StarLink

Published

on

Image: Steve Jurvetson

In Brief

  • The Facts:

Musk's SpaceX has begun launching satellites into Earth's orbit that will provide wireless infrastructure to the world. They will be launching hundreds more over the year.

  • Reflect On:

Are we acting too quickly on technology without safety testing? Are we as humans more connected to having the latest greatest technology than we are to our own health and wellness?

SpaceX has already begun launching satellites into space, which are set to provide 5G-like internet to the world. Intensely focused beams of microwave radiation will begin hitting Earth. This is not an image of fear, but one of deep questioning: Are we jumping too fast on this technology, despite the fact that it’s already showing signs of danger for our health?

The untested 5G plans of telecom companies around the world aim to install millions of cell towers on electric utility poles, public buildings, schools, bus stop shelters, in public parks, and anywhere else they want–including national parks and on federally owned land. Public concern has grown immensely over the past while, and rightly so, these are untested moves with big health implications.

There is no denying the technological upswing with 5G. The internet will be FAST. There is also no denying the obvious, that bringing high-quality internet speed to the world would mean better connectivity, more efficiency, and would solve problems like the ones I face living in a rural area–I don’t have good internet.

But at what cost are we attempting to solve these issues, and why do competition and capitalism overrule the need for safety testing? Does this not reveal humanity’s lust for money and technology over their own health? Perhaps our internet connection is good, but is the connection to ourselves and each other good?

People with concerns about 5G are often laughed at within pop culture today as well, as if there is nothing to be concerned about. As Dr. Sharon Goldberg has put it:

“Wireless radiation has biological effects. Period. This is no longer a subject for debate when you look at PubMed and the peer-reviewed literature. These effects are seen in all life forms; plants, animals, insects, microbes. In humans, we have clear evidence of cancer now: there is no question. We have evidence of DNA damage, cardiomyopathy, which is the precursor of congestive heart failure, neuropsychiatric effects… 5G is an untested application of a technology that we know is harmful; we know it from the science. In academics, this is called human subjects research.”

That in contrast to a social media post from the CEO responsible for the latest push of more wireless infrastructure:

As you can see from Goldberg’s comments, it’s not whether or not these effects are there, we know they are, the question becomes how much will they affect us when suddenly towers are lining the roadways every 500 feet, as per what’s required with 5G technology.

The dangers associated with EMF radiation and 5G are clear, this isn’t really a debate. The question of why we don’t seem to be doing much about it is the part that’s odd.

Musk’s SpaceX To Launch

SpaceX was given approval by the FCC on March 29th, 2018 to launch 4,425 satellites into low orbit around Earth that will begin to layout a wireless internet infrastructure in space. The total number expected to be put into low and high orbit over the coming years will be about 20,000 across all companies. SpaceX will top out at 12,000; OneWeb at 4,560; Boeing 2,956; Spire Global at 972. This is what’s planned out as of now.

A look at SpaceX’s StarLink program.

The first two test satellites were launched by SpaceX in February of 2018. Hundreds more are set to launch in 2019 alone, and the full set of 20,000 are projected to be in orbit during the next 2 years. You can compare that to the 1,738 operating satellites that have been in Earth’s orbit as of September 2017. By the end of two years from now, the number of satellites over the earth will be increased by over 1000%.

Perhaps worse, the satellites will be about the size of a small refrigerator and weigh about 880 pounds. The life expectancy will be 5 years, and once they are no longer functional, they will become space junk until they eventually fall back to earth and burn up in earth’s atmosphere.

The Takeaway

I have the ability in my rural area to increase my internet speed so I don’t have to drive 10 minutes to the local coffee shop during days I’m not at the CE office and need to upload a large file, but I won’t improve that internet connection because my option is a 5G frequency range that will push even more harmful waves at me, my family and my house.

This would be even worse than those we already naturally get from WiFi and cell signal. People look at this and think “well you are already getting hit anyway, so who cares?” I care because the damage from this stuff is cumulative. The more there is, the worse this problem gets. So if you don’t limit exposure, you’re simply being unconscious of reality. This isn’t to say you live in fear, in no way am I afraid of EMF radiation, I am simply connected enough to the reality of the situation that I act on it.

I also find it odd that our culture glorifies people so heavily who act in ways that obviously are highly controversial to human health. Musk has done some great things, let’s recognize that, but we also avoid the fact that he is setting up a microwave system over top of the entire Earth, with no safety testing. Why are we not saying more about this?

Take Action

The irresponsible push for 5G without testing has inspired us to create people-powered investigative journalism campaign to stop the 5G infrastructure. We plan to investigate the telecom industry, it’s ties to politics, and expose its efforts to push 5G while ignoring the dangers and without proper safety testing, but we can’t do it without your support.

Assange Lawyer Reveals The Pentagon Was Behind Bringing Down WikiLeaks’ Assange

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

One of Assange's lawyers has confirmed that it was the Pentagon who was behind the smear and aggression to bring down Julian Assange, not the Obama admin.

  • Reflect On:

Why does our government's work so hard to protect secrets related to wrongdoing that no one supports? Why do we spend more time arguing over if Assange is right or wrong when we already know the actions of our governments are dreadful?

As free and open journalism remains under attack, a lawyer for WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange has confirmed that it’s the Pentagon, and not the White House or any other government agency whose secrets he has leaked, that has been pushing for years to smear and bring down Julian Assange.

Assange lawyer Geoffrey Robertson was granted a meeting with Obama administration insiders and had asked if they “really wanted” the publisher so they could access his whistleblowers and because he warned that “there are dangerous precedents here,” Robertson said they responded simply:

We don’t want him, but the Pentagon does, and the Pentagon may eventually get its way.

Robertson spoke to Obama administration insiders after he learned of a secret grand jury they had convened against Assange in 2010, he explained to Phillip Adams on ABC’s Radio National on Thursday. Robertson reminded them that charging a journalist under national security laws had serious First Amendment implications, but the Obama team was already aware of the kind of precedent it would set. If this goes through, journalists will essentially be silenced from exposing government secrets – not only systemically, but through fear of life in prison.

Interestingly, the Obama administration charged more leakers under the Espionage Act than all previous administrations combined, but it never sought to go after a journalist or publisher. This is something new, and dangerous, all together. It reveals the true nature of how far government agencies will go to protect their secrets.

According to award-winning journalist John Pilger, the Pentagon’s campaign enacted the media to destroy Assange’s reputation as “threats of exposure [and] criminal prosecution” were used to rid the public “feeling of trust” towards the core of WikiLeaks’ operations. In many cases, this worked. Look how many mainstream media outlets who long profited off of Assange’s work early on but have now turned on him. Was this at the call of ‘higher powers?’ or are they simply following up with natural responses to a heavy smear and disinformation campaign?

Assange is currently in jail for 50 weeks for skipping bail after he spent seven years in the Ecuadorian embassy in London. He was recently too ill to appear at a hearing at Westminster magistrates court in relation to the US request. More recently, the British home secretary Sajid Javid signed the extradition order to send Julian Assange to the US. This now leaves the final decision to the courts. It’s likely that the extradition decision process will take many months to decide in court.

In late May Assange was hit with 17 criminal charges under the espionage act when a federal grand jury in Virginia returned a brand new indictment. All are in connection with the alleged leaks publicly released in conspiracy with Chelsea Manning. All charges combined could land him in prison for 170 years, all for doing what many are arguing are responsible and important acts of journalism. WikiLeaks has never had to make a retraction on their journalistic work.

Of course, Assange’s arrest has been controversial since it happened. Garnering opinions from many directions including that he is a hero and that he is a villain that must be prosecuted for revealing government secrets. Demers responded to supporters of Assange who feel the WikiLeaks founder was being targeted for work as a journalist. Demers stated this information put the sources at risk, and that no “responsible” journalist would publish it.

If he is found guilty of his charges, which is highly unlikely considering no “national security” defendant has ever won a case in the Eastern District of Virginia court where he will be tried, it’s also unlikely they will acquit him. Thus, Assange facing 170 years in prison is a very real thought.

The Takeaway

Some still believe Assange is being brought back to the US to be a witness in bringing to light the crimes of people like Hillary Clinton and her cronies. I still do not see solid evidence of this and instead see a situation developing that has very serious implications on journalistic work and truth, not to mention destroying the life of an innocent man.

Regardless, this presents an opportunity for questioning. Why does our government’s work so hard to protect secrets related to wrongdoing that no one supports? Why do we spend more time arguing over if Assange is right or wrong when we already know the actions of our governments are dreadful? Are we not simply being distracted by them? Good ol’ bait and switch?
