Big Pharma’s Big Connections: Congress Exposed As Protecting Drug Companies While Opioid Problem Worsens

An in-depth investigation revealed how U.S. Congress effectively weakened the DEA’s ability to go after Big Pharma, despite the worsening opioid epidemic.

Many people often picture drug dealers as these scary individuals selling pills on street corners, but when it comes to the opioid epidemic, these drug pushers don’t exactly fit the stereotype. The true “drug dealers” largely responsible for America’s opioid epidemic aren’t thugs, they’re doctors and members of the U.S. government.

As former DEA agent Joe Rannazzisi put it, “They weren’t slinging crack on the corner… These were professionals who were doing it. They were just drug dealers in lab coats.”

You have physicians heavily pushing and marketing opioids, you’ve got countless doctors being paid by Big Pharma to prescribe opioids, and then you have the U.S. government overseeing the opium trade. This isn’t news to many people, as the reality of America’s war on drugs has lain exposed for decades, but mainstream media has been honing in on the deep ties the people we’re expected to trust share with Big Pharma.

An in-depth investigation into the opioid epidemic and the U.S. government’s ties to it was recently conducted by The Washington Post and 60 Minutes, revealing how U.S. Congress effectively weakened the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) ability to go after drug distributors, despite the worsening opioid epidemic.

The Bill That Protected Drug Companies and Fuelled the Opioid Epidemic

The Washington Post‘s report on the opioid epidemic focused on one bill in particular that protected some major drug companies, allowing the flow of opioids to reach more people and creating more profit for their producers in turn. The law was presented as a more “industry-friendly” approach to law enforcement, but it undermined the DEA’s ability to monitor the flow of opioids.

So, corrupt doctors and pharmacists were able to effectively prescribe more pain killers and introduce them into the black market. Big Pharma funded this through lobbying efforts, worked closely with a handful of Congressmen, and even made some hefty donations to political campaigns (to the tune of millions of dollars) to ensure this bill came into fruition.

The Washington Post stated that the key member of Congress who paved the path for this bill was Pennsylvania Republican Tom Marino, as he allegedly spent years attempting to push this bill. The law Marino so desperately wanted to succeed basically acts as a protective barrier between Big Pharma and the DEA, preventing the DEA from freezing suspicious shipments from companies.

Why was Marino so supportive of this particular bill? Though we clearly do not have the full picture, we do know that he received $100,000 by “political actions committees representing the industry” for his efforts. Marino wasn’t the only lawmaker to accept payments though, as the industry paid a collective $1.5 million to 23 lawmakers who sponsored or co-sponsored the bill (and these are only the known amounts).

“The drug industry, the manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors and chain drugstores, have an influence over Congress that has never been seen before,” explained the former head of the DEA’s division responsible for regulating the drug industry, Joseph T. Rannazzisi. “I mean, to get Congress to pass a bill to protect their interests in the height of an opioid epidemic just shows me how much influence they have.”

As per how this bill truly got passed, it remains a mystery. Yes, Big Pharma and Congressman Marino clearly played a huge role, but how did the DEA and Department of Justice accept this? Were they unaware of the effects this would have on the opioid epidemic? Former President Barack Obama, who was responsible for the final sign-off of the bill in 2016, and multiple DEA officials declined to comment on this matter to the Post.

In addition, the DEA and Justice Department refused or delayed requests made by the Post and 60 Minutes for files under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) that could provide more information on the law that passed. A number of these FOIA requests have been pending for a year and a half, and so the Post is now suing the Justice Department in hopes of obtaining these files.

DEA Chief Administrative Law Judge John J. Mulrooney II commented on the law, stating that because of it being passed, it’s “all but logically impossible” for the DEA to suspend a Big Pharma company’s operations even when they do not comply with federal law. How can drug companies continue to operate when they’re not even operating under federal law? This is the power that Big Pharma holds over the U.S. government.

The DEA has cracked down far more in the past decade on pharmaceutical companies selling opioids, but Big Pharma has discovered a secret weapon. During this time, pharmaceutical companies and the law firms that represent them have poached 46 DEA officials, hiring them to transition from protecting citizens from drugs to pushing them.

Despite Marino’s history of being “tight” with Big Pharma companies, President Trump  hand picked him to lead the Office of National Drug Control Policy. This position is often referred to as the White House’s “drug czar.” However, given the recent controversy fuelled by The Washington Post‘s report, Marino decided to withdraw his nomination.

Of course, his decision was supported by many who were familiar with his role in passing this bill. West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, whose state is no stranger to the devastating effects of the opioid epidemic, sent a letter to President Trump requesting that Marino’s nomination be withdrawn prior to his announcement.

“During the biggest public health crisis since HIV/Aids, we need someone leading the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy who believes we must protect our people, not the pharmaceutical industry,” Manchin said in a statement.

People die every single day from an opioid or heroin overdose, and this problem won’t go away unless we break it wide open and expose what’s going on. This story runs deep, and I encourage you to read the entire Washington Post report.

Further Information on the U.S. Government’s and Doctors’ Ties to the Opium Industry

To clarify, let’s go over what opium is and how it can be made into drugs such as opioids and heroin. Opium is first removed from the poppy plant, which is then refined into morphine, and can then be further refined into heroin. So, if you’re an opium supplier, you could also be contributing to the supply of heroin. This is an important fact to remember when it comes to the role the U.S. government has played in the opioid epidemic.

The term opioid refers to any substance that binds to our opioid receptor sites, and so both heroin and morphine qualify as opioids and opiates. Opiates are made from those same poppy plants as well, though not all opioids are; for example, some are entirely synthetic, and others are semi-synthetic (such as Oxycodone, which is made from both chemicals and opium).

The U.S. government is heavily involved in the opium drug trade. In Southeast Asia (SEA) during the Vietnam War, the CIA worked alongside Laotian general Vang Pao in an effort to help make Laos the world’s largest exporter of heroin.

In fact, the CIA owned and operated a covert drug smuggling airline, referred to as Air Americawhich was used to transport numerous goods, including heroin. The CIA then flew drugs all over SEA, allowing the Golden Triangle (parts of Burma, Thailand, and Laos) to become the world hub for heroin. You can read more about Air America in our CE article here.

However, the CIA’s “heroin problem” didn’t start nor end in SEA.

Afghanistan is another country with a complicated history of involvement in the opium and heroin industries, much of which implicates the CIA. In the 1980s, CIA-supported Moujahedeen rebels were heavily involved in drug trafficking heroin. The CIA supplied trucks and mules, which were used to transport opium. Many of the individuals trafficking the drugs in Afghanistan were actually trained, armed, and funded by the CIA at the time.

Fast forward to when the Taliban started to rule, and all of a sudden the opium trade plummeted, practically eradicating 90% of the world’s heroin. However, after 9/11 occurred and the U.S. invaded Afghanistan, opium production suddenly skyrocketed, as the U.S. started “protecting” the opium fields there.

The U.S. government’s link to heroin/opium/opioids runs deep, and I encourage you to read the following CE article to learn more:

How The CIA-Operated A “Drug Smuggling Airline” For Heroin & The 9/11 Connection

To make matters even more interesting, the government is even using taxpayers’ dollars to create a heroin vaccine, which is ironic given their relationship to the drug trade. You can read more about that in our CE article here.

So, how does Big Pharma relate to all of this?

When you think about it, Big Pharma companies are just like any other business: Their main goal is to provide consumers with products they want or need, and in turn make a profit. Well, how can Big Pharma companies ensure that their market grows and demand increases? By creating products that are not only addictive, but that have negative side effects as well, so they can keep people sick and encourage them to take more drugs.

Final Thoughts

It’s clear that the opioid problem runs deep in the U.S. and those fuelling it are the people you may least expect, from the government to Big Pharma to physicians. It seems strange that medical practitioners get paid to sell you drugs rather than help you stop taking them. Shouldn’t doctors get paid when you’re actually better, not when you’re sick?

A Question About Extraterrestrials On Everybody’s Mind: Are They A Threat?

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

This article is brief examination into the question, do extraterrestrials represent some type of threat? Evidence suggests they've been visiting for a long time, if some type of 'invasion' was to happen, would it not have already happened?

  • Reflect On:

How much does the human race have to discover about itself? Are there aspects of our reality we continue to ignore simply because it conflicts with what we've been made to believe?

The idea, as said by Lord Admiral Hill Norton that “we are being visited and have been visited” by “people” from other planets, solar systems, galaxies and perhaps more is a hypothesis that’s now accepted by millions of people on our planet. I’ve come to this conclusion after studying the UFO phenomenon as well as the extraterrestrial hypothesis for the past 15 years.

Modern day mainstream media coverage has also sparked interest among people who once thought the idea that “UFOs” are real was a  “conspiracy theory,” most notably a New York Times article regarding Dr. Eric Davis earlier this year. Davis is a renowned astrophysicist who worked within the Pentagon UFO program. He, according to the article, gave a classified briefing to a Defense Department Agency about retrievals from “off world vehicles not made on this Earth.” CNN also aired an interesting clip of Ex-Defense official Christopher Mellon mentioning this incident.

There was an interesting leak that dealt with Dr. Davis a couple of years ago that involved Apollo 14’s Dr. Edgar Mitchell, which was confirmed by Mitchell, among others in Dr. Steven Greer’s film, “Unacknowledged.” It’s one of multiple leaks suggesting that, in some high level circles, it’s already known that many of these objects are indeed extraterrestrial, and/or extradimensional in origin.

What’s important to mention is that there are several accounts of supposed retrievals from off world vehicles that have most likely been made over the past several decades. The Davis example spoken about in the New York Times does not seem to be an isolated incident and I’ve come across many supposed incidents over the course of my research. This isn’t surprising given the evidence suggesting that governments have been desperate to capture this type of technology over the years.

A large lack of trust for mainstream media has some people confused and worried that there is the possibility for those who control media to shape our perception of the topic, or at least telling the complete truth about a phenomenon that goes much deeper than the examples and cases that are and will receive coverage in mainstream media, I believe.

How we collectively perceive this phenomenon is important, and there may be some powerful people atop this trail of secrecy who, like with many other topics, attempt to shape our perception of what is and has been going on for a very long time in order to benefit from that perception manipulation in some way.

It’s also interesting to note how there is and has been a long and “official campaign of ridicule and secrecy” (Rear Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter, Director of Central Intelligence (1947-50), signed statement to Congress, 22 Aug. 1960) that has surrounded this subject for years, making the idea that these objects represent some sort of fake type of deception by some elite group obsolete. Those who want to legitimize something false as real do not ridicule it and label it a conspiracy theory, they legitimize it using the tremendous resources they have, like mainstream media, at their disposal. This has not been the case for the UFO issue over the years.

Not only are these objects real, but they’ve been spotted, recorded and tracked on radar performing maneuvers no known man made air-craft can perform.

The mainstream has yet to dive into the evidence available which points to the idea that many of these objects are probably extraterrestrial, they seem to be staying away from that confirmation for now, but they have come a long way from ridiculing it which should raise some questions. Why now? Are some groups of people trying to use UFO disclosure in the same way they’ve used the “war on drugs” or the “war on terror?” To benefit off of it in some selfish type of way? These are important questions to ask.

Again, having researched this topic for many years I can tell you that there is indeed “abundant evidence that…civilizations have been visiting us for a very long time.” (Dr. Brian O’leary, Ex NASA Astronaut, Princeton Physics Professor)

The phenomenon has huge implications, and as I’ve said in many of my articles it leaves no aspect of humanity untouched. From science, to technology, history, parapsychology and much more – all are affected by the reality of the ET phenomenon. Greater coverage and honesty about the subject will change human consciousness forever, and provide insights into aspects of our reality that we were once not aware of.

If you’re willing to accept that we are being visited, a common question that seems to come next is, are they a threat? Obviously, as of now we don’t really have an answer that everybody would agree with.

It seems the more you dive into the lore of the phenomenon the less you know, but with recent mainstream media UFO disclosure I’ve observed a strong “threat” narrative. This confuses me, given the fact that from the information and incidents that have been declassified and made available to the public, these objects are predominately performing evasive maneuvers to avoid our own air-craft. This has been a common theme, in 1947 General Nathan Twining, who at the time was Chief of Staff for the United States Air Force described them as “evasive” and so did former Canadian Defence Minister Paul Hellyer in 2008. Statements like these corroborate with UFO encounters that have spanned the past several decades and make up the bulk of declassified incidents by multiple governments.

This does not mean those who control these objects are “good” or “bad,” it simply calls into question why they would be perceived as a threat if most of the evidence suggests otherwise.

I’ve come across very little, practically nothing, that hints to the idea that these objects represent a great threat. Perhaps curious, and possibly intrusive may be better words to use, but to imply that there is a threat here seems to be irresponsible. Sure, if you’re looking to get some attention perhaps the only way to do it would be to present the phenomenon as a threat, but I believe we should be presenting things as they are. Some people even believe a false flag alien invasion to be a possibility.

What we have here is a phenomenon worthy of serious study and investigation.

It’s also important to mention that right now with mainstream UFO disclosure, we are getting a wiped down or sanitized version of the phenomenon. There are tens of thousands of cases and sighting reports that can be found within the literature over the past seventy plus years, yet the cases we are receiving from organizations like To The Stars, for example, don’t even represent a fraction of what’s been observed. Again, this makes it easy to generalize and come to false conclusions given the fact that any case released by this organization will be the focal point of attention within the mainstream media.

There’s decent evidence suggesting that these objects have been around for a very long time. From ancient cave paintings to Vedic scriptures, indigenous lore, all the way to military agencies tracking these objects. If there were any sort of threat posed by these objects, or some sort of harmful intentions on a big scale, I feel it would have already manifested by now and we would have already witnessed some type of disturbing event. Maybe I’m wrong?

Furthermore, evidence suggesting that multiple governments have been desperate to capture this type of technology lends to the conclusion that perhaps, in some cases, it’s not that easy for these objects to enter into our atmosphere given the fact that, if spotted or tracked on radar they’ll be subjected to some type of reconnaissance or “take down” mission. This is probably a rare success given the capabilities that these objects have been seen to possess, but it wouldn’t be surprising to me if the protocol was to “shoot first and ask questions after.” (Hellyer, 2008)

Beyond UFOs, Actual Extraterrestrial Encounters

When one goes beyond studying the behaviour of these objects and into stories of actual extraterrestrial encounters, things become a little cloudy. The literature and lore from all places, including modern day abduction accounts, simple contact experiences, indigenous stories and more suggest these beings, or at least some of them, are concerned about us, care about us, and want to see us and all life on our planet thrive. At least that’s one perspective.

For example, the case in Zimbabwe where more than 60 school children witnessed an object as well as beings during recess at their school. This was an interesting case, given the fact that at the time all 60 children drew the exact same pictures while recalling the event, and told the exact same stories. Some of them experienced telepathic messages about Earth’s future and where we will be if we don’t turn our behaviour around.

Another example would be testimony from high ranking military personnel like Colonel Ross Dedrickson providing examples of extraterrestrials deactivating nuclear weapons sent out into space, and the apparent help they provided to the crew of Apollo 13, emphasizing that some of these beings care about the well being of our planet.

The list of friendly tales of extraterrestrial contact is long, and the idea that there are different groups observing us, encouraging us, and warning us of our own behaviour and want to see us turn it around and wake up to seems to be quite common.

This wouldn’t be surprising to me. If we look at all life on our planet there’s one thing all of it has in common, and there is an ability to experience feelings, emotions, altruism, love and empathy, and the desired to be cared for. It’s safe to assume that these characteristics extend beyond life on our planet and into life on other planets as well.

On the other hand, some abduction accounts paint a different picture. Reports of people being held against their will, terrified and subjected to unpleasant procedures like they were some sort of lab specimen doesn’t really sit well with most people. Stories of alien human hybrid programs and the supposed take over of our planet in the works paint a dark picture of some sort of take over agenda. What seems to rub me the wrong way is, again, the evidence suggesting “they’ve” been around longer than we have. If this were to take place I believe it already would have happened, and abduction experiences only account for a portion of this phenomenon. We understand very little about them and the intentions behind them.

What clouds this particular portion of the phenomenon is that some of these abduction experiences may be completely fake given that many are recalled during hypnotic regression. Not to say that this isn’t reliable, it very well could be, but we cannot say for sure and there are a lot of issues with it. Secondly, there are multiple credible sources suggesting that some of these forced”abductions” may in fact be some sort of military/mind control operations and experiments, like Dr. Jacques Valle. In his book, “Forbidden Science 4,” Valle explains how he came in possession documents showing that forced “UFO abductions” were conducted by the CIA as psychological warfare experiments. You can read more about that here.

So are they a threat? I don’t know, if we look at the human race as an example and expand out, there are many “good” humans and “bad” humans on our planet. That is to say, some who cause harm and disrupt harmony, and many who bring harmony and create a more peaceful environment. But, we are destroying our planet, and the way we treat other species and other people needs a lot of work. Love, care, empathy, awareness and a greater understanding of who we are and the relationship we have with all life needs to be stepped up. But our faults do not make us “bad.” You would think an intelligent observer looking down on our planet would perceive us as “bad” given what we do to our planet and how many people die every day unnecessarily. But perhaps they see the “good” side as well, our ability to love, care, be empathetic and many peoples desire to create a human experience where all people thrive. Perhaps we are just playing out a human narrative built on separation, and that a new narrative built on connection is what we are evolving towards.

If another intelligent being was observing us, our planet may actually seem quite scary, violent and unpleasant.

It’s a philosophical question with no clear answer, but as far as some sort of alien invasion or war of the worlds scenario that’s often been portrayed by Hollywood, I deeply feel that’s something we don’t have to worry about, but again, I don’t know.

What I do know is that it’s human nature to explore, ask questions and discover more about ourselves and the nature of reality. At this point in time, many of us have been pushed heavily into a life of school, work, and providing for our families. The human experience doesn’t easily encourage the freedom for all us to simply explore, ponder ask questions and discover, but we are still doing it. Recognizing, examining and exploring “others” who are visiting us seems to be the next step and represents the next “paradigm buster” of our existence.

I feel there is so much about ourselves we have yet to discover. I feel our plant has all the solutions it needs to thrive, but we simply need to do a better job of identifying and solving why these solutions are never implemented. There is a lot of deception on our planet, but there is also a lot of good, and perhaps there is some good out there too?

Human consciousness is rapidly changing, and extraterrestrial contact is one small but large part of this massive shift in human consciousness we are experiencing. Why do we live like we do when we could truly thrive?

Glenn Greenwald Resigns From The Intercept After They Censor His Content

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

The Intercept co-founder Glenn Greenwald has quit after The Intercept's editors censor one of his stories about the Biden Family.

  • Reflect On:

If your perception is built by mainstream media, do you truly know what is going on in the world if they are often working to hide or censor stories that would dramatically change your perception?

Glenn Greenwald is the instrumental journalist who worked with Edward Snowden to put together his story and release it to the world. At the time working with the Guardian, Glenn eventually left to co-found his own media company, The Intercept, that would not be hindered in reporting on government corruption and the wrong doings of powerful people. Now, he has resigned from The Intercept because they have just censored him.

Many imagine our world is filled with corruption, hear of it sometimes, but often don’t quite see how far it goes because media is complicit in covering it up on behalf of those in power. We are seeing this today with the Hunter Biden laptop situation. Every journalist should be trying to find out what’s going on here. After all, the evidence is pretty incriminating that ‘the big guy’ mentioned in multiple emails and letters connected to the Biden family could very well be Joe Biden, meaning he is taking illegal money from shady deals with foreign interests. Why should people not know about this? Why is the media and social media coordinating to hide all of this information and not properly investigating?

Glenn Greenwald has become increasingly upset at his colleagues in journalism lately, multiple times stating on the Joe Rogan podcast earlier this week that he is shocked at how much they are refusing to cover anything meaningful related to the Hunter Biden laptop story. This is not what journalism is about. It’s not about protecting people, it’s about telling the public the truth so they can make decisions with accurate information and understandings in mind.

Glenn decided to do the reporting himself on the laptop story, but The Intercept, a media organization he co-founded, decided to censor Greenwald in his article titled: ‘THE REAL SCANDAL: U.S. MEDIA USES FALSEHOODS TO DEFEND JOE BIDEN FROM HUNTER’S EMAILS’

In response to being censored, Glenn wrote on his new website:

“I am posting here the most recent draft of my article about Joe and Hunter Biden — the last one seen by Intercept editors before telling me that they refuse to publish it absent major structural changes involving the removal of all sections critical of Joe Biden, leaving only a narrow article critiquing media outlets.”

Glenn’s statements show a very clear intention at The Intercept to protect Joe Biden, and in essence, mislead people. A problem that has long existed in media, and has intensified with a Trump presidency. This doesn’t mean we’re saying journalists should be protecting Trump instead, it means all truth should emerge through a free press. I have often stated that most people are not voting for politicians from a place of knowing what is going on in the world, they are voting for politicians from the standpoint of believing in an illusionary world that does not exist. This goes for both sides of political spectrums based on bias media being consumed. This is why the first step in our mission here at CE is to provide information that helps people “Break The Illusion” that their perception is built on. This way, we can begin seeing something that more closely resembles the truth, and start making sense of the world.

In the article that Glenn intended to have published on the Intercept he writes:

“Publication by the New York Post two weeks ago of emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop, relating to Vice President Joe Biden’s work in Ukraine, and subsequent articles from other outlets concerning the Biden family’s pursuit of business opportunities in China, provoked extraordinary efforts by a de facto union of media outlets, Silicon Valley giants and the intelligence community to suppress these stories.

One outcome is that the Biden campaign concluded, rationally, that there is no need for the front-running presidential candidate to address even the most basic and relevant questions raised by these materials. Rather than condemn Biden for ignoring these questions — the natural instinct of a healthy press when it comes to a presidential election — journalists have instead led the way in concocting excuses to justify his silence.”

As stated by Greenwald, the only article The Intercept published on the recent Hunter Biden laptop story was that the information likely came from a Russian disinformation plot, likely to again pass on the idea that Russia is meddling in the US election. That, instead of just telling the American people the truth, that there is more to this story and that there is no evidence at all that it came from any Russian involvement. Simply, it’s likely that Joe Biden and his family have many skeletons – just like most other politicians.

Greenwald was appalled by the US media vastly claiming this story was a nothing burger, a distraction from Russia and stated:

“Second, the often-repeated claim from news outlets and CIA operatives that the published emails and texts were “Russian disinformation” was, from the start, obviously baseless and reckless. No evidence — literally none — has been presented to suggest involvement by any Russians in the dissemination of these materials, let alone that it was part of some official plot by Moscow. As always, anything is possible — when one does not know for certain what the provenance of materials is, nothing can be ruled out — but in journalism, evidence is required before news outlets can validly start blaming some foreign government for the release of information. And none has ever been presented. Yet the claim that this was “Russian disinformation” was published in countless news outlets, television broadcasts, and the social media accounts of journalists, typically by pointing to the evidence-free claims of ex-CIA officials.”

Greenwald has no current plans for what he will do next or where he will go with his journalism. But his new website will do for now. I imagine it will be easier to see where cards fall after the upcoming US election results are publicized.

A New Kind of Media

It almost begs the question, are we ready as a society to truly create and disseminate journalism that is honest, integral and bi-partisan? Why is it that these types of organizations fail or struggle? How did Intercept fail? Well, they are no longer staying true to their mission. They fell to the pressure of politics and fell into ideology. How many other times did ideology change what they reported or coloured their stories? Yes, it’s almost impossible to have zero bias, but how close can we get to zero?

I look at what has happened here with CE, we struggle to stay funded because we stick to a completely bi-partisan position, and ask deeper questions that explore what about us as humans right now makes the world the way it is, and what can we do to change that. We know our style is ahead of its time in many ways, but it feels right, so we do it. Fact checkers have hit us hard, not because our statements or reporting is false, but because we simply are not ‘allowed’ to say certain things. The exact type of behaviour we are seeing from the Intercept. It’s not that Glenn’s reporting was wrong, it’s that he wasn’t ‘allowed’ to say it.

Just the other day, Julian Walker from the Conspirituality podcast, refused to come on our network and engage in a debate/discussion about some topics he was misrepresenting because he believes I am a ‘conspiracy theorist and ‘flat earther’ and doesn’t want to associate. Where would he get such an idea? I have only ever spoken about flat earth in that I think it’s a practical joke being played on people, so where would this come from? Did this man even do his research? Did he fall for the false fact checking that has damaged our brand? Can we trust his research on his own podcast when he has such false positions like that of what he stated about my character? I don’t know. But I can see the damage that has been done to people who have committed their lives to making the world a better place and reporting on things you’re ‘not allowed’ to talk about.

It has long been my feeling that media, especially alternative media, is going through the stages of maturing. Dropping behind as much bias as possible, dropping the emotional and manipulative tilts, the protection of government and powerful interests, and engaging the BIG questions of who we are, why we are here and where we want to go. Those trailblazing this change are having a tough time right now as the old paradigm dies out, but it’s a change that needs to happen.

I feel what Glenn has done here is inspiring and truly the takeaway here. Times are changing. As much as you might feel a bit down to hear of more censorship, truly look at how these events play as another indication that things are changing and people are making decisive choices in a direction towards freedom – inner and outer. Every even gives us something to look at, reflect upon and take new action from. This is how we learn about who we are from current events.

Vancouver Council Votes Against Mandatory Mask Mandate: They’re Not Required

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

Vancouver, Canada will not have a required mask policy in civic facilities, and instead will simply recommend that people wear them.

  • Reflect On:

Should governments recommend what they feel we should do and present the science instead of forcing certain measures on the population that many people and health professionals clearly disagree with?

What Happened: The city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada will not mandate masks inside city buildings and will “strongly encourage” people to wear them instead. This is a bold move as many cities across the globe have mandatory mask measures in place.

The proposal by Counc. Sarah Kirby-Yung, which would have required masks inside city buildings, was opposed by more than a dozen speakers who pleaded with the city council to vote against it.

“Please consider our forefathers fought for our freedom, and if we release that choice, it’s the first step towards a dictatorship,” said one speaker according to City News. “Masks are used as weapons and they have certainly been used as weapons against me and others to silence and marginalize us and it’s not fair.”

According to Coun. Christine Boyle, public health experts encourage wearing masks, but a mandatory policy is not needed.
