New Moon In Libra: Changes In Relationships

Published

on

We are having a New Moon in Libra on October 19th at 7:12pm Universal Time. This marks a new wave of energy influencing the upcoming lunar month, yet the astrological configurations at this time will be the strongest over the following two weeks leading up to the Full Moon on November 3rd/4th.

Libra energies have been present for the last month — since the previous Equinox, which is when the Sun always enters this sign. As an air sign, it is social and intellectual. Libra is about all types of relationships, as well as balance, fairness, equality, and diplomacy. Consideration of others’ needs is also a theme, as well as anything to do with beauty, aesthetics, and even creativity and the love of art.

New Moon Opposite Uranus, Conjunct Jupiter in Scorpio

However, the Libra-related needs may be at odds with the opposing Uranus in Aries if both sides are not integrated. This is something that we have already been experiencing on and off since late last year, and also in recent months, during Jupiter’s opposition with Uranus in the same signs. Uranus in Aries is about freedom, breaking free, independence, rebellion, and separations, but in some cases it may even bring new ways of applying ourselves within relationships/partnerships.

This aspect with Uranus may also bring some surprises and sudden changes throughout this Moon cycle, which may be disruptive. This effect will be particularly strong at the time of the New Moon and potentially the day before.

Although this New Moon is in Libra, along with Venus and Mars later on, Scorpio energy will be very prevalent throughout this month, as Jupiter entered this sign nine days prior. Mercury also recently joined. The Sun will be there as well, three and a half days after this New Moon (on October 23rd), as it does every year at this time, but this time it will be joining Jupiter there.

While Libra is associated with relating and relationships, Scorpio represents the deeper aspects of these things, such as deep bonding, sex, and shared values/resources, along with deep desires, fears, intensity, investments, taxes, debts, secrets, hidden matters, suspicions, and mysteries. Negative Scorpio traits include jealousy, possessiveness, power, control, and manipulation over others. It is raw, primal, powerful, complex, and can even be profound and transformative.

Jupiter, along with being triggered by the Sun, is highlighting these themes. An example of this is what is being talked about in the media regarding sexual harassment in Hollywood. On a more positive note, we may also experience an expansive energy related to Scorpio themes. Jupiter is about learning and growing, so this can be a great time to apply this toward the Scorpio themes mentioned above. It can also be related to deep studies and deeper understanding of certain subjects and how things work, which can be done in a way that is penetrating and even obsessive.

Mars Entering Libra, Mercury Trine Neptune, and Venus Square Pluto

Mars is going into Libra on October 22nd and will be extending some of the Libra themes for a while, as it will stay there until December 9th. Traditionally, this is viewed as a poor pairing with Mars, which likes to be direct and assertive. Libra can be indecisive and likes to take things into consideration before acting so it can make both sides happy. Throughout this period, we may find that our actions require more deliberation, which can be more challenging for highly assertive people.

Mercury in Scorpio is moving toward a trine with Neptune that will be exact on October 24th. Mercury represents how we process thoughts and communicate, and when in Scorpio, can allow for deeper communication. Its trine with Neptune can deepen intuition and connection to the unseen and unconscious, as well as the thoughts of others. This can also be great for creative Mercurial communicative pursuits such as poetry, music, and visual arts such as photography and video.

Venus returned home to Libra five days prior to this New Moon and will stay there until November 7th. Despite the New Moon’s opposition with Uranus mentioned above, and some upcoming challenging aspects that Venus is making, this can still bring some harmony to our relationships and our social lives.

However, as we approach October 27th-28th, Venus will be moving toward a square with Pluto, which could trigger already existing Scorpio themes of jealousy, possessiveness, fears, as well as passionate intensity and obsessiveness in relationships. It could also bring challenging or hidden issues to the surface as well, and we may display compulsive behaviours toward loved ones. In some cases, financial issues, or anything to do with aesthetics, might become problematic in some of the same ways. Mercury will also be in an aspect with Pluto at the same time, which can reinforce some of things already mentioned but can also help us look at the issues from a deeper perspective, as it is also in Scorpio.

Making Intentions and Things to Consider

In what new ways can or should you express yourself in your relationships? What themes are being triggered at this New Moon now that are related to what has unfolded over the last few months, and what can you do to take a new step forward? What are the deep underlying issues at play here and how can you use this awareness to facilitate changes, transformations, and better decisions? What considerations do you need to make to ensure that you are taking a balanced approach in your actions? What is the root cause of your fears, obsessions, or compulsive behaviours?

These are just some examples of what your intentions can be oriented around, but they don’t need to be limited to them. The exact time of this New Moon will be at 7:12pm Universal Time on October 19th. You can click here to find out what that is in your time zone. It is best to make your intentions as close to the New Moon is possible, but they can even be done within the first 24 hours following. However, the best time for making intentions would be within the first half hour following or just prior.

19 One-Sentence Reminders To Help You With Your Depression

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

9 of these statements apply to each and every one of us.

  • Reflect On:

Nobody has all of the answers, but we can continue to share information and thoughts that have helped us in our own life, in hopes that they may resonate with another.

Life undoubtedly features its fair share of hardship. And given the strength and sudden speed with which these challenges can strike, it can be easy to put greater focus on the more negative aspects of our existence than the positive.

But no matter who you are or what your current situation is, there are always things to be grateful for and to appreciate in life. In an attempt to remind you of just how wonderful your life has been thus far and will continue to be, I’ve put together a list of 19 one-sentence reminders I feel we can all benefit from being told.

I truly believe that all 19 of these statements apply to each and every one of us, but even if only a handful of them resonate with you, let them inspire you to strengthen the love you have for this blessing that we call life.

(Note: I’ve compiled this list in both written and video format to give you the option to process it via whichever medium you prefer.)

1. You’ve been through a lot and you’re still here.

As I mentioned off the top, we’ve all been through hardship in life. Whether your life has been relatively easy on you or has been a constant struggle, we’ve all been through things that could have laid us low. But we are still standing here today, and that is something to be proud of.

2. Being different is a blessing, not a curse.

Even if you’re among those who make a point of modelling themselves after people they admire, we are all unique in this world. And that uniqueness, whether or not your traits adhere to the currently praised ones in pop culture, is something to embrace and celebrate.

3. You’re as young right now as you’re ever going to be.

No matter how old you currently are, you are never going to be as young as you are right now in this moment. So if not now, when?

4. You’re your own biggest critic in life.

This may sound negative to some, but it can also be quite empowering to remind yourself that if you learn to reel in your self-criticism, you’re bound to face less criticism overall each day. It’s important to be reflective, but it’s unhealthy to take that introspection to the point of self-hatred.

5. You always have at least 10 things to be grateful for in life instantaneously.

Don’t believe me? Try it out! Be broad (ex. I am thankful to be alive) or be specific (ex. I am thankful for the way my dog Sparky looks at me when I get home from work) and you’ll hit 10 quite easily.

Want to make gratitude a part of your regular life? I recommend The Five Minute Journal: A Happier You in 5 Minutes a Day.

6. You have many skills and talents that others wish they had mastered.

While you may not be a gifted painter or a pro basketball player, we all have skill sets and talents that we’ve mastered either by choice or by circumstance. Successfully running a household, cooking well, and being a great listener are three easy examples of things to be proud of that most of us give little or no credit to.

7. You’ve smiled and laughed a countless number of times.

Even if you consider yourself a serious person, we’ve all cracked a smile and broken out in laughter countless times in our lives. Each of those moments, whether they were triggered by an experience, a comedian, or a funny movie, deserve to be cherished, and there are plenty more to come.

8. Relationships are an extension of your happiness, not the basis of it.

Because of how stimulating relationships can be in a number of ways, many of us allow our happiness to be dictated by the quality of the ones we have in our life, especially when it comes to our significant others. When you remind yourself that happiness starts from within, you remember that relationships only offer opportunities to extend your happiness — they don’t determine it.

9. You are loved and admired.

Most can agree to this one easily, and as a result, it is a heartwarming reminder of how valued we are. But for those of you that genuinely feel unloved and un-admired, dig a little deeper. We all have people in our lives that are grateful for our existence in theirs, and we also all boast characteristics that others admire.

10. Every day you come to understand yourself better and better, and care less and less about whether or not anyone approves of that.

It’s one of the naturally occurring benefits of aging, and it’s something we should all be really happy about. The older you get, the less likely you are to get caught up in a lot of the things that previously pulled you away from being yourself.

If you’re looking to understand yourself even better and expedite your journey to this point, I highly recommend Get a PhD in YOU: A Course in Miraculous Self-Discovery.

11. You’ve learned something from every failure in your life.

They may have sucked to go through, but I can guarantee you’ve learned a hell of a lot from every experience that you perceived as a failure in life. To be beyond that experience and to have that understanding under your belt is a wonderful thing.

12. You have so many wonderful memories and are going to create even more of them.

Whether it be the birth of a child, a fun trip with your partner, graduating from school, or anything else of that nature, we all have wonderful memories in life. Take some time regularly to reflect on how wonderful those moments are and let them inspire you to fall in love with the reality that you are bound to create more of them moving forward.

13. You may not be able to control what happens to you, but you can always control your reaction to it.

The exact same experience could happen to three separate individuals, all with identical repercussions, yet affect each one differently. While one may find themselves enraged and another annoyed, the third might have no reaction at all. You are always in control of your reaction to every circumstance, so you choose how long to be upset or down about things.

To further explore this theory, I suggest listening to the audio from Tony Robbins on The Power to Shape Your Destiny: Seven Strategies for Massive Results.

14. A lot of the greatest things in our life came from our biggest challenges.

Along the same lines of number 11, you can persist through tough times by keeping in mind that great things often result from these experiences. Remembering this can be integral to loving all aspects of life once again.

15. You’re the biggest thing holding you back from pursuing your dreams.

It may seem like your commitments and obligations are your biggest hurdles to pursuing your dreams, but it’s actually your mindset that rises above them all. If we want to go after a goal, we all have optional things we can take time from to make that possible. Believe it or not, the countless hours you spend watching Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead can actually be put to better use.

Looking for some motivation and clarity to go after your dreams? I highly recommend Awaken the Giant Within : How to Take Immediate Control of Your Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial Destiny!

16. You care about personal development.

This article undoubtedly falls under the category of personal development, so the fact that you found it interesting enough to not only click but also read this far shows some definite signs of commitment to improving yourself.

17. You have and are connected to so many people in this world.

Thanks in large part to the wonderful world of social media, we can all connect to hundreds, if not thousands, of people pretty well effortlessly. This is a truly special time to be alive, and the connectivity we have access to is an element to our daily life that is always available for us to love and appreciate.

18. You have the courage to do so much that others are scared to do.

Doing pretty well everything in life requires a level of courage that many others shy away from. Whether your comfort zone is narrow or broad, it’s certainly bigger than it was when you were born, and every time that it got bigger was a clear sign of courage.

19. You actively look for positive reminders about life.

You made it to the bottom of this list! That clearly suggests that you not only know deep down that life is beautiful, but you are actively looking to remind yourself of this fact.

Remember This When You Forget How ‘Powerful’ You Are

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

We all feel down at some point in our lives. Sometimes just a simple reminder of our true essence can bring everything into perspective, like the 28 quotes below.

  • Reflect On:

Sometimes we simply need to change our perspective. If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Easier said than done, but what action steps are you taking to feel better?

We all feel down at some point in our lives, and some of us more than others. Sometimes we feel defeated, depressed, and unworthy. If you are anything like me, you may have spent a lot of time feeling broken, ashamed, and guilty, too. These are some of the most difficult emotions to feel about yourself.

This was at a time in my life, where, although I had woken up to a conscious understanding, and had learned about many spiritual concepts — how to overcome challenging experiences, the idea that everything happens for a reason, etc. — for the life of me, I could not implement this knowledge and understanding into my life. I felt as though there was actually something wrong with me, that maybe my mind worked differently, or maybe something in me was blocking me from progressing. I was trapped, and I felt truly broken. I compared myself to others around me and just thought they had it easier. I was stuck in this victim mentality.

There were, however, a few pieces of writing and wisdom that I had collected over the years that truly helped me through these hard times. A simple reminder of how powerful we truly are really touched me because, deep down, despite these low feelings, I knew that like everyone else, I was a part of source — everything that is, God, whatever you want to call it. Yes, I realized that I just I said am God, but it’s okay because so are you!

Sometimes just a simple reminder of our true essence can bring everything into perspective. I hope that you can find some solace in the following quotes when you are going through tough times, and don’t forget, “If you are going through hell, keep going.”

  1. “I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness the astonishing light of your own being.” — Hafiz
  2. “Within you is the light of a thousand suns.” – Robert Adams
  3. “A beautiful day begins with a beautiful mindset. When you wake up, take a second to realize what a privilege it is to be alive and be healthy. The moment you start acting like life is a blessing, I assure you it will start feeling like one. Time spent appreciating is time worth living.” — Anonymous
  4. “You’re so hard on yourself. Take a moment, sit back, marvel at your life;
At the grief that softened you
At the heartache that wizened you,
At the suffering that strengthened you.
    Despite everything,
    You still grow.
Be proud of this.” — Unknown
  5. “There is no reason to doubt yourself. If you know what your intentions are you will always give yourself guidance, and if you momentarily seem to get off track, which isn’t really even possible –then you will always allow yourself to know that there is something you will learn from it in a positive way and know that you haven’t really left the track at all. You have simply expanded the track wider.” – Bashar
  6. “Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life. Because you become what you believe.” – Oprah Winfrey
  7. “Change can be scary, but you know what’s scarier? Allowing fear to stop you from growing, evolving and progressing.” – Mandy Hale
  8. “We are travellers on a cosmic journey, stardust swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share this is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.” – Paulo Coelho
  9. “Tear off the mask. Your face is glorious.” – Rumi
  10. “You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one.”
  11. “We are all made of stars.”– Moby
  12. “Don’t worry, don’t be afraid ever, because this is just a ride.” – Bill Hicks
  13. “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” – Albert Einstein
  14. “But without the darkness, we’d never see the stars.” —Anonymous
  15. “Do not feel lonely, the entire Universe is inside you.” – Rumi
  16. “A lot of the pain that we are dealing with are really only thoughts.” — Anonymous
  17. “Never compare your journey with anyone else’s. Your journey is YOUR journey, it’s not a competition.” — Anonymous
  18. “You were given this life because you were strong enough to live it.” — Anonymous
  19. “Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment.” – Eckhart Tolle
  20. “Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.” –Eckhart Tolle
  21. “The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love, and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you, the world is transformed.” – Jiddu Krishnamurti

Retired American Bishop Believes The Church Invented Hell & Is In The “Control Business”

Published

on

In Brief

  • The Facts:

Below is a video of Jon Shelby Spong, a retired American bishop of the Episcopal Church explaining that religion is a business and it is used as a control mechanism.

  • Reflect On:

Is religion an invention of man used for sinister purposes? A form of brainwashing? Is there some truth within religion? Is that way it resonates with so many? Is religion different today from what it was many years ago?

Religion is a controversial topic, and I’d like to preface this article by saying that it is not my aim to belittle or diminish anyone’s beliefs. My problem is not with faith but with religion as an organization, which has been used as a means of control, to pit people against each other, and to incite terror and war. Religion in this context serves the purposes of many various global elitist agendas.

Religion is also confusing, to say the least; within several different religions exist different ‘sects,’ each with their own teachings and version of the ‘truth’ and how to live one’s life. Within Christianity alone, there are multiple versions of the Bible, and teachings that contradict one another. What one religion says in one part of the world may directly oppose what another says in a different part of the world. This alone is a recipe for feelings of confusion and isolation for anybody who is seeking ‘the truth.’ If various religions preach different ways of life and truths, they all can’t be correct, can they? I guess that’s why they call it faith.

Below is a video of Jon Shelby Spong, a retired American bishop of the Episcopal Church, discussing these problems. He argues that religion is a business and it is used as a control mechanism (and he’s not the first insider to do so). We can see this happening most clearly in the rise of Islamophobia. Islam has been turned into a scapegoat, a target at which we can direct all our fears and anger, and an excuse to invade other countries and create a more intense global national security state. But the truth is, Islam has nothing to do with violence or terrorism. These manufactured fears are all part and parcel of ‘false flag’ terrorism, which you can read more about here if you are unfamiliar with the concept.

In the video, Spong affirms that “religion is always in the control business, and that’s something people don’t really understand. It’s in the guilt producing control business.”

Every church I know claims that we are the true church, and they have some ultimate authority. . . . The idea that the truth of God can be bound in any human system by any human creed by any human book, is almost beyond imagination for me. God is not a Christian, God is not a Jew or a Muslim or a Hindu a Buddhist; all of those are human systems which human beings have created to try to help us walk into the mystery of God.

He is describing the difference between faith and religion. I myself have explored multiple religions, and have discovered teachings within all of them that deeply resonate with me. I’ve also found teachings that don’t resonate at all. I don’t believe one religion has all the answers.

Using fear to coax people into a certain way of life or belief system, just like the Bishop mentions above, seems to be common practice in nearly every religion, and that certainly doesn’t resonate with me.

The history of the church itself is problematic. Whether it be the church’s role in the First Nations Genocide here in Canada, or the European crusades, the church has a history of forcing their views upon others and of condemning science and new discoveries.

Furthermore, as the Bishop says above, people need to accept responsibility for the world. If we simply leave global change in the hands of God, we remove our own responsibility and agency in this world. If we want to change the world, WE have to do it. After the Paris terrorist attacks, the Dalai Lamai expressed this as well, arguing that it’s not enough to just pray. We must take responsibility for our planet.

We are also dealing with texts that are very old, and considering there are multiple versions of various texts, all of which have likely been manipulated, changed, and distorted over the years, I find it difficult to accept any one without question.

Another point that turns me away from religion is hypocrisy. Many people claim ties to their faith yet know very little about its tenets, and fail to follow what they claim to believe in. This is commonly seen within the ‘spiritual’ movement as well, which can be seen as another form of religion in itself.

When it comes to religion, I believe you have to do your own research; you have to read the books and examine the teachings for yourself. Use your own head and find what resonates with you instead of allowing yourself to be indoctrinated and letting someone else do your thinking for you. These texts are open to interpretation; it’s up to you to find meaning in them and apply it to your life. You can still believe in God and not be religious. Religion is a manmade construct, and I think if God were to suddenly appear somewhere, he or she would have no idea what religion even was.

Religions as organizations are going to have to change. New discoveries are constantly being made that are challenging long-held belief systems. We cannot grow if we refuse to have an open mind and accept new possibilities about the nature of reality, and it’s childish to hold on to old belief systems just because they are familiar.

I personally believe in the soul and other non-material phenomena, as well the idea that life does not end here on Earth, and I believe there is enough evidence in various forms, aside from my own intuition and gut feeling, to support this stance.

What about you? What do you believe? What it all boils down to, for me, is respect. We must learn to respect each other’s viewpoints about ‘what is.’ We need to work with each other and accept our differences so we can focus on helping the planet, our shared home.

“It’s a mark of an educated person to be able to entertain an idea without accepting it.”

What do you think about religion and what Spong is saying in this video?
